Thanks for the comments
TTX , I was prepared to have either team leave with the loser leave town stipulation in play. I was actually happy the Rock ‘n’ Roll Express came out on top as I had an easier time coming up with a new heel team then a face team (as you will read below).
I am glad you found the main event fun. I thought it was a bit of bust with the non-finish but the door is left open for a big rematch down the road.
August 25, 2019 – Card #47 – Guelph Memorial Gardens, Guelph, Ontario
Ted DiBiase bested Ron Hutchison. The fans were solidly behind Hutchinson but he was unable to capitalize on their support as DiBiase came out with a near perfect mix of science and brawling and took the win with a fist drop after it appeared he slipped something into his glove.
Red Bastien downed Wild Bill White. White was looking to continue his recent success in singles action and came to fight taking control of this encounter and really dominating most the action. Bastien had the fans behind him and managed to kick out after White executed his finisher running power slam. Bastien used his agility to gain control and applied a sleeper that was enough to put White down long enough for Morgan Dollar to call for the bell.
Chaz Taylor beat Shawn Daivari. There was a great pace to the is one as you would expect with these two in the ring. No one held a clear advantage early on but a missile dropkick from Taylor turned the momentum in his favour. Twice he was unable to put away Daviari with a Chaztizer. Daivari made a comeback after drawing his foe to the floor for a brawl leading to a WMD for a big near fall of his own. Daivari had the match in hand when he came off the top for a cross body block but Taylor rolled through and had enough to keep Daivari cradled on the mat for the three count.
Red Bastien over Lou Albano by disqualification. Morgan Dollar had strict instructions for both men before the bell. Albano made the early error of sending Lyons into the ropes which resulted in both men going for clothesline and crashing to the mat. Lyons recovered first and trapped Albano in a figure four leglock. That did not finish Albano but Lyons applied his sleeperhold which would have done job except for the fact While Bill White interfered and attacked Lyons. Dollar called for the disqualification. Red Bastien returned to the ring to ensure his partner was not injured and all four men brawled to the back.
Diamond Dallas Page shocked Blackjack Mulligan. Mulligan earned some serious heat with he used a blatant claw choke early in this one as the intensity between these two picked up from the battles earlier this year. Mulligan used his size to knock around Page for a good portion of the match. Page showed some guts when he got the best of a brawl on the floor while Dr. Mike Lano snapped cover shots. Soon Mulligan was laying the boots to Page again and the fans were becoming frantic. Mulligan landed back to back boots to the face that had Page reeling before going for a trapezius claw, but Page was read with a Diamond Cutter out of nowhere for the comeback victory.
The Vachons dominated Magnum Terry Allen & Sam Houston. Morgan Dollar appeared ready to let these two teams fight it out to a conclusive finish. The Vachons immediately cut of Houston from his corner and went to work. Mad Dog Vachon laid down a vicious assault before Butcher Vachon unleashed his power attack. Houston had the chance to go for tag but instead decided to battle back against Butcher Vachon and it was a critical error. Houston would not have the opportunity to tag out again before Mad Dog Vachon planted him with back to back piledrivers for the victory.
Bob Armstrong defeated Pampero Firpo in a Lumberjack Match. Brad Armstrong, Magnum Terry Allen, Red Bastien, Billy Red Lyons, Wild Bill White, Lou Albano, Mad Dog Vachon & Butcher Vachon are at ringside to ensure that the action stays in the ring. This one had plenty of chaotic moment. The Lumberjacks on both sides had no hesitation about getting involved in the action. Armstrong benefited early when the referee was distracted allowing Magnum T.A. to score with a dropkick. Firpo seemed to be able to control the action in the ring and had “The Bullet” beat on two occasions with his finisher El Garfio but the lumberjacks had other ideas as first Billy Red Lyons made the save and later Armstrong’s son made sure the action continued. Firpo was also assisted when his shoulders were down when White clobbered Armstrong to keep the match going. The finish came when the referee again was attempting to restore order on the floor which allowed Brad Armstrong to take out Firpo with a Russian Leg Sweep. Armstrong then landed a Georgia Jawjacker to take the win. The ring filled with bodies post match in a brawl that resembled a battle royal.
Lou Thesz pinned “Jumping” Jim Brunzell. Handshakes got this challenge match underway including an exchange with Morgan Dollar. Brunzell showed he skills to match the former Canadian Champion Thesz move for move. Thesz caught a break landing a neck breaking clothesline in the corner. Brunzell kicked out after a Greco-Roman Backdrop and then Thesz landed back to back to back Thesz Presses resulting in a pair of near falls and finally the three count. Thesz and Brunzell shakes hands out of respect after the match.
Canadian Open Tag Team Champions Valiant Brothers defeated Rock ‘n’ Roll Express by disqualification. The Express were on fire from the opening bell and Ricky Morton took the fight to Johnny Valiant to the floor. Valiant grabbed his title belt to use as a weapon, but Morton gained control of the belt and smashed Valiant in the head. Morgan Dollar called for the bell and the fans are livid as Jimmy Valiant assisted his bloodied partner to the back with the title belts in hand. Suddenly, Jim Cornette is at ringside and the Express are attacked from behind by Stan Lane and Tom Pritchard, the Heavenly Bodies. Tennis Racket shots all around before security arrives to break things up.
Jimmy Snuka downed Greg Valentine in a Steel Cage Match. The fans were buzzing as the cage was assembled and the participants came to ringside. Valentine gained an early upper hand with suplexes, forearms and chops. Snuka battled back picking up a near fall after a backbreaker. Both men took turns sending each other into the cage walls and soon both wrestlers were a bloody mess. Snuka was able to catch Valentine on the top of the corner and tossed him to the mat. Snuka dominated the balance of the contest and then mounted the corner of the cage for a Superfly Leap. Snuka was not finished as he pulled up Valentine at the count of two. Snuka mounted the corner of the cage a second time and crushed Valentine with a second Superfly Leap for the victory. Valentine is removed on a stretcher after the match.
