Good to see Ted Dibiase advance and while I love the protest by Bobby Heenan I feel that Nick Bockwinkel will overcome that situation and go far in the tournament. He's too good not to, unless of course "The Brain" interferes for the dreaded DQ or Brad Armstrong pulls off a shocker.

Thanks for the comments and predictions everyone. Nick Bockwinkel (22) w/Bobby “The Brain” Heenan v. Brad Armstrong (43)
Morgan Dollar earns a huge ovation when he sends Heenan to the back before the opening bell. Another loud weasel chant follows Heenan as he leaves ringside. Back and forth counters to start. Armstrong pushes with a hip tosses and then traps Bockwinkel in a sleeper that slows the action. Fireman’s carry is countered and Bockwinkel hits a back suplex. Bockwinkel works the arm but Armstrong battles back with a hip toss and flying head scissors. Knee drops from Armstrong connect as does a dropkick. Sleeper again from Armstrong. Another knee drop sets up a third sleeper hold from Armstrong who seems intent in beating Bockwinkel with his own finisher. Bockwinkel makes the ropes (R7/P2). Running lariat connects and Armstrong goes back to the sleeper. Bockwinkel avoids a knee. Back suplex plants Armstrong and Bockwinkel applies a lengthy abdominal stretch. Bockwinkel works the leg with kicks and a butt drop. Both men trade hip tosses and then miss several moves before Armstrong manages a whip into the corner. Armstrong charges in for a monkey flip but no one is home sending Armstrong crashing knee first into the corner. Bockwinkel cover for one and half (R8/P4). Bockwinkel tosses Armstrong to the floor and then trade blows on the floor. Armstrong gets the advantage and executes a hip toss but misses an elbow drop. Bockwinkel charges into the corner but Armstrong counters with a clothesline. Bockwinkel takes a breather but Armstrong gives chase. It is a mistake as Bockwinkel gets the advantage at ringside. Back in the ring, Bockwinkel again attacks the leg with a FIGURE FOUR LEGLOCK but Armstrong turns him over after a lengthy struggle that has the fans out of their seats in support (R10/P6). Bockwinkel goes back to the hold again and this time Armstrong makes the ropes to stay alive (R9/P7). Bockwinkel executes a piledriver in the middle of the ring. 1, 2, kick out (R8/P7) and the fans explode! Another piledriver is followed by a pair of snap mares and an abdominal stretch. Back suplex knocks the wind from Armstrong’s body and Bockwinkel applies another FIGURE FOUR LEGLOCK for the win (R7/P9).
Next match . . . Magnum TA (27) v. Johnny Saint (38)
Oddly, I am really looking forward to this one. I think it might be interesting.

Nice match there as Armstrong took him to the brink. Next one is a sleeper match as Magnum runs hot & cold while Saint does run into trouble with bigger opponents. Going to choose Magnum here.

Some interesting thoughts heading into the next match. Magnum’s card seems very polarizing amongst promoters. Magnum TA (27) v. Johnny Saint (38)
Handshake starts this one off. Saint wants to keep things moving early and hits a high cross body block. Allen gets sent into the ropes and ducks under and rebounds back countering a backdrop with a piledriver. Allan off the top with an elbow and then connects with an atomic drop. Dropkicks down Saint for a one count (R8/P2). Saint regains his feet but Allen is ready with a BELLY TO BELLY SUPLEX for the win (R4/P6)
Happy that Magnum won but I was expecting a much closer, and longer, encounter.
Up next, the last match of the opening round!
Larry Hennig (6) v. Sinn Bodhi (59)
. . . . did I just hear crickets?!?
Although this might to the match where you make a trip for refreshments, do not take too long because the second round will soon be upon us. As was the tradition during the previous B & W 64 man tournaments, the second round matches will presented in double shots. Two matches per day for 8 days! We will have our final 16 before you know it.
