Hello,
I'm an olde tyme COTG player who's recently returned to the fold. I started playing in 1990/91 after seeing ads in PWI magazine. I bowed out around 2107/2108 for a number of reasons, mostly because I had a second child on the way (he's in trade school now) and needed to pick up a second job to make ends meet. Also I was finding myself increasingly disappointed with the art (Bendis did some good stuff, but IMO much more bad art). Anyway, I recently picked some of the original B/W sets (2087, 2090 & 91) and all the COTG starter sets (2087 color, 2119, 2125 and the Black death set) as well as everything else from 2126 to 2135, lol. What has struck me the most is how much better the art, production values, and the writing, are and how consistently good/great the art is across all the Filsinger sets. That somewhat long winded intro was all to say this. I've been admiring Darryl Banks great artwork and I noticed something... I really like Turmoils 2125 card, and I noticed he's holding something... wait is that rebar? Holy S*** he holding rebar! Only an artist the caliber of Darryl Banks could make a pic of a muscleman holding rebar look badass! :-)

I don't mean to derail my own thread (anyone wanting to talk about the awesomeness of Darryl Banks is welcome) but I'm glad I decided to take up the game again. The damndest thing was, over the years of not playing, I'd actually have dreams about the game. Not actually playing the game mind you, but I'd be having a dream about some other random thing, and then I'd be at my mailbox, checking to see if the latest flier or game edition arrived. Over the years this has happened several times. The mind works in strange ways, lol.

Glad to have you back and Daryl Banks is definitely a great artist as is Werner Mueck. Artwork is definitely a big part of this game.

Thanks for the welcone Troy. I agree Werner is very good as well. I just thought that if you described Turmoils pic without the corresponding visual "it's a drawing of a face painted muscleman, standing in front of destroyed buildings... and he's holding rebar". It takes a particularly talented artist to take that absurd description and turn it into an incredible piece of art.
