I went to Graphouse last night in downtown Las Vegas. In some ways Graphouse is my favorite fed in Las Vegas. One of the people who run it is Sandra Moone who is a former student who went to the high school I teach at. Graphouse does not run often but when they do they fly in some good names. It was Graphouse's 1 year Anniversary show last night and the card was more stacked than usual.
Before the show, at the Nerd Bar, I met up with Tournament Master and his friends who are here in Las Vegas for their annual Fantasy Football Draft. Human Tornado, who is often at the Nerd Bar, was there too. We went to the Nerd Bar, the Toy Shack, and then to dinner at Magnolia's inside the Four Queens. I had just eaten on my way home from work but if I knew we were going to Magnolia's then I would have waited. Tournament Master and most of his friends ordered the prime rib which I recommended since Magnolia's is known for their prime rib (and also known for their breakfast menu too) which they have been serving since the 1960s.
I left during dinner to go to Graphouse which was just down the street on Fremont. Before the show I got to give cards to Dark Sheik and she signed my copy of her card. Also, before the show, current GCW Extreme Champion Cole Radrick stuck his head out and I waved to him and he came out and I was able to give him copies of his card and he signed my copy of his card. It was great to get to talk to Cole again, I am glad he is in the game!
At the show, I met up with some other friends. One of my friends brought a cooler full of beer which he kept in his trunk and we went out to get some cans, but he got caught on one of his trips back into the venue. "sir, you can't bring that in here" lol. But they did not catch me though as I put the cans in my pocket.
Graphouse has an awesome vibe and it is an outdoor show in downtown Las Vegas, some of their shows have been on IWTV. I am not sure if last night's Graphouse show was on IWTV or not, but if so you can probably see me drinking my smuggled-in Bud Light as I was standing at the ring apron as it is just like Bar Wrestling in that it is standing room and front row is the actual ring apron itself.
In the opening match, the Naturday Saints (who pulled off some moves I have not seen before) defeated Los Suavecitos.
In the second match, Starboy Charlie defeated BYP (Sinn Bodhi's son.) Starboy Charlie was a heel last night. Starboy Charlie is about 20 and BYP is about 15 and Starboy Charlie told BYP before the match that BYP was him 5 years ago.
In the third match, one could argue that the game's Indy hometown advantage rules came into effect as Lazarus (Sandra Moone's brother) defeated Sonico. As the wrestlers were being introduced by J Rose (who flew in from Indianapolis,) I set one of my smuggled-in Bud Light cans on the ring apron to take a photo of Sonico to send to Will who knows Sonico a little in the Seattle area, but Sonico started the match off quickly and hit Lazarus with a shotgun dropkick that knocked over my beer. But most of my beer was still there and the little that spilled I just quickly swept under the ring apron as the match was happening.
I unforunately had to leave after the third match but I had a great time while I was there. On my way out, one of my friends gave me another smuggled-in can of Bud Light to drink while I was walking down Freemont Street (it is legal to do that here in Las Vegas on Fremont Street) and I walked to Backstage Bar and Billiards to see Buck O-Nine and then I went next door to see Marky Ramone. It was a late night for me (I got home about 5 AM) but a fun night. Tonight I am going to see Off With Their Heads play at the Dive Bar and then tomorrow morning I am going to meet Tournament Master and his friends at the Rio where they have some tables reserved in the sportsbook to watch the NFL and then I am going to Sam's Town to watch NJPW Strong.
Graphouse was Show #45 for me in 2022. Show #46 will be New Japan tomorrow and then Show #47 will be Prestige in California next Saturday.
