This coming Saturday is National Movie Day across America. I just found out about it myself but passing on for those that have not heard. Many theaters are showing movies for only $3. Not just old movies but all movies. For instance, Cinemark which is the theater near me is offering $3 movies all day on all formats including and 3D or mega screen. It is for new releases, old movies like Jaws and the recent Spiderman movie, and everything they are showing. All day. Plus, they are offering specials on snacks. Small popcorn is only $3 but for $1 more you can make it a large. Candy and medium drinks are $3 as well. So, you may want to check with your local theaters website to see what they are doing this Saturday to celebrate. My guess is this is something to both battle a slow time in theaters as they are saying, I mean back to school and football season take away from their business some, but also to battle post COVID and business lost to streaming services.

That is a good deal. If anyone has not seen Bullet Train yet, I recommend that movie, especially if you can see it for $3, as it was alot of fun. I go to a good number of movies as there is a movie theater across the street from my home and there are a couple of current movies, such as Beast and Breaking, that I will see at some point but most likely on streaming or through Red Box. I don't think I can participate in next Saturday's National Movie Day as next Saturday I plan to watch Clash at the Castle and then watch GCW's Art of War show featuring their annual deathmatch War Games (I attended last year's show in Chicago.) On a side note about the movies, this week for Current Events, one of the topics me and my students discussed was China altering the ending of Minions: The Rise of Gru. I have not seen that movie (and probably won't) but some of my students knew about it.

I had not heard about China doing that. I need to go find the story and read about it. For now, I am imagining North Korea doing the same and calling the movie Minions: The Rise of Kim Jong-un and the movie plays normally till the end which is like 5 minutes of footage of Jong-Un edited in from footage they have of him. No animation, just real stuff with no connection to the movie but done to show his "greatness".

I mean, that is even funnier and sadder than what I imagined. I actually think it would be funny to get a copy of that film. Or at least an English version as I do not read Mandarin or Cantonese. It would just be a hoot to watch the movie and then have the script pop up to read.

I just checked my Email and saw that the Regal movie theater across the street from me is also participating in next Saturday's National Movie Day:
Tickets On Sale Now! Make plans to catch that movie you've been wanting to see for just $3 this coming Saturday. Experience IMAX, RPX, interactive 4DX & immersive ScreenX at this same awesome price too at your favorite Regal theatre! Every Movie. Every Format. All day long Saturday, September 3 at all Regal locations.
If there is time between WWE's Clash at the Castle and GCW's Art of War shows next Saturday, I might go to a $3 movie on Saturday.

Did anyone take advantage of this? Sadly, I had to work and the only movie I could go to before work that would be over in time for me to get ready for work was the new Thor movie. While not too interested in seeing it for $3 I would have if it started a bit later. It was I think 10:15 AM and that was too early for me lol.

I think I am battling depression with the death of my friend this week and all I have done this weekend is watch wrestling in between sleeping at odd times (I fell asleep like at 10 last night which is really early for me, I woke up at 1:30, then slept again and missed the first hour of Clash at the Castle, and then fell asleep again and missed most of the first two matches of tonight's GCW show.) But there are some movies in the theaters right now that I will see at some point (but not necessarily in the theater.)

I am sure this is just the normal grieving process and with time it will slowly pass. However if it does not please make sure you reach out to someone. Extended periods of depression can be bad for ones health just like stress can be.

Just an FYI to everyone, National Movie Day this year is this Sunday, 8/27. Most theaters are doing $4 movies including 3D and big screens, ie no upcharge. Also many are doing discounts on concessions. Check your local theater web site for details.
