How do you time your matches? I bounce between two different methods but I'm curious how everybody else is getting the time for their matches: - When rolling it out on tabletop, I mostly use the stopwatch on my mobile phone. Though when I get distracted or have to get up from the table, I sometimes forget to pause the stopwatch
- Online, I just click on the Show Log button after the match, then look at the "Total Entries". I just assume each "entry" represents 6 seconds of time ingame. It's a little bit easier to compute than it sounds: Just divide the Total Entries by 10 to get the minutes and multiply the remaining by 6. So a match that had "Total Entries: 120" would be 12:00 minutes, and a match that had 75 entries would be (75/10 = 7 r5) 7:30.

I've seen several methods but this one from Cory Olson is the one I've liked the best. Haven't tried it out yet. "I don't run a stopwatch or clock unless I'm doing an Iron Man match. I look at the starting time and ending time of the match and then double that for the storyline time. I've been playing the USWA a lot in COTGOnline lately and the log is great for looking at the time of a match quickly. (I'm actually up to June 2018 in real-time.)
In my Great Lakes Championship Wrestling as part of the WWWA, I used the same "double time" method, except I do run a clock since time limits are a part of that fed."

Virtually the same thing I do. I knew I liked Cory Olson!

I'll give anyone credit if they are able to time matches. I usually am on my laptop listening to a podcast or have a show in the background. Something will catch my attention or a kid will ask me something and I'll stop playing for a few minutes (I'm playing online) and I'll start playing again.

Exactly why I resorted to using the number of lines/Total Entries provided by the log instead of the timestamps. I frequently have to step away from my desktop too, for 10 or more minutes

I love the log in COTGOnline for the reasons mentioned! I too often get interrupted when playing online. For my WWWA, if I'm actually running a timer, if I get interrupted, I try to remember to pause the clock. If I forget, I check the log and just reset the timer to the number of minutes elapsed since I do that fed completely in Online.

This is the exact method that I used when I was into timekeeping... The one thing that I did different (for the sake of variety and realism) is that I would roll 1d6 and add that number of seconds to the final time... That way my matches were not always ending on a multiple of 6 seconds.

For my aCe fed I use the online log. It's pretty accurate to how I feel the match played out. For Rigel Rumbles I usually throw on an old Royal Rumble and have them enter as the wrestlers do on TV. That's especially fun for the Rumbles that operate on "WWE time."

I use the stopwatch on my phone times 4. Example; if a match goes 2 minutes real time, it's an 8 minute match.
