Well I remember when the first 2079 card set cam out and I got the flier in the mail. I was all like "man im gonna buy this." The year was 1992...I know I know. 17 years later I got around to it and man is it awesome. I bought this along with EC and 2074 to get started. Also working on the L-FSCE kinda jump started my interest as well. I kept telling myself was all I need is one more fed I dont have time to play but COTG is always fun none the less. This will be fed number five which includes 2123, 2104, GWFZ, aCe, and now EC. To be fair Z and aCe are on hold until I order the latest sets so its three now.
Anyway I read the books, sorted the cards, and played the very first card ever in my Galactic Wrestling Federations history!!! Did it live up to the hype? @%#% yes! I even dug out my old charts from my childhood which were a little more worse for ware then I remember to keep it old school.
The card lineup was
Main Event: Guardians vs Dorado Sundown
-Torin Caelum vs Ricken Prince
-Screw vs Santon- Screws gonna be a new favorite.
-Defiance vs the Mensans
-Commander Sam vs Torpor
brief summary:
-Playing the very first card was awesome.
-Sam's debut was pretty hardcore and was kinda surreal to play his debut match.
-Screw and Santon had a wild brawl that somehow didnt end in a dq. Screw won with the first ever decapitator!(middle rope clothesline)
-Torin Caelum had a dominating debut that he easily won.
-The match I had been waiting for Omega and Morpheus vs Dorado Sundown. I dont know if my dice just liked me today but this was a five star classic that played out only to hype the feud more. Things went back and fourth with each wrestler having 2-3 fatigue tokens on them and then a frustrated Omega?!? got himself dqed. I remembered how easy it was to get disqualified on the old charts but it didnt matter to me because this was an awesome match. It had a real old school feel to it even with the ref calling the match for Omega using the steel ringpost. Haha awesome. Just thought I would share in another rant.
