We're going to be running an interactive contest this summer to break things up and create a change of pace. The goal is to provide an alternative environment that offers something new & different from the type of experience that is found in the regular Fed Forums. This will also be an interesting new way to promote the dimensions of the game and explore the depths of its characters.
If you like the idea of being forced to think on your feet and face situations which test your creativity and adaptiveness...then this might be right for you!
CotG/LOW Booking Challenge Contest
Eligibility
This contest is open to players of any & all official Filsinger Games sets (GWF, aCe, POW, GWFZ, LOW, LOTF). If you have the capacity to select and use an 18 man roster, then you're good to go!
Schedule
The CotG/LOW Booking Challenge Forum will open on Friday May 1 and the competition will close on Sunday July 26. To provide flexibility and accommodate different schedules there will be no mandates on rate of posting frequency. The various stages listed below regulate the process.
Registration
To participate, send me an 18 man roster of any Official FG wrestlers that you want to use for your brand. Your picks are binding throughout so chose wisely.
We want to make this inclusive, so while posting will open May 1st...applications will be accepted until Sunday May 24th.
The Difference Between 'Promoter' And 'Booker'
This is an interactive contest that is designed to incorporate some of the real world obstacles and complexities of booking a promotion into CotG/LOW game play. In contrast to the traditional role of being a Promoter who owns/operates a Fed outright and executes decisions from the 'top down', contestants will be placed in the role of being hired as a Booker. This means being a 'part' of an organizational environment where powers are limited...but levels of accountability are not!
Each booker will have the ability to chart an initial creative direction…but much of what ‘happens’ along the way will be outside of his/her direct control. From injuries to talent issues to finances...feet will be held to the fire!
The challenge comes in trying to find a way to make things work effectively in the face of mounting adversity.
All Star Panel of Judges
Special thanks to board members Cory Olson, Knapik, Osk, Swarm, Troy & Tournament Master. They each have specialized knowledge of the various brands and have volunteered their time to be part of the panel and act as judges.
Throughout the competition, they will be reading the threads. Their purpose is to study how each Fed is developing and help to create impediments that will test each contestants booking skills. Decisions by the panel will be reached through consensus, and judging will reward innovation, adaptiveness & creativity.
At the contest's conclusion, the panel will collectively decide who will be named the 2009 Filsinger Games Booking Challenge Champion! The Champion will be credited with a custom board title and will win an FG related prize.
Overview of Contest Stages
* Stage 1: Introduction: (Duration: opening post) This stage is similar to introducing any regular Fed. Here you map out your objectives without facing any obstacles. Explain to the readers (and judges) where you want to lead your promotion over the course of the next few months. What are your goals? Who do you consider to be the key players on your roster? How many titles will you establish? How will they be defended?
* Stage 2: Brand Development: (Duration: first four posted cards) Using the 18 man roster you have picked, you will now have the freedom to build 4 weeks worth (game time) of shows. This is a ‘honeymoon period’ where you can craft your vision and establish your base.
Keep in mind that the foundation you build for your brand during this period could very well make or break you with the judges going forward.
* Stage 3: Challenge Phase (Duration: begins after the 4th posted card and continues until conclusion): Starting in week 5 (after your 4th show post) the panel of judges that have been studying your Fed now begin to step in. When you reach this point, you no longer have control of the pace of your posts as you must react to the challenges that are issued.
‘Things will begin to happen’ that negatively effect the foundation you have built. From this point forward, every show you book will carry a creative consequence that you must find a way to adapt to. The challenges will grow progressively more difficult as time goes by.
* To keep things running smoothly, there will be a 3 day turn around time on challenges being issued. Always PM me a link after each show you run once in Stage 3 so I can easily coordinate.
* Active players are welcome to send me suggested challenges in an effort to increase the difficulty level a given booker faces. The panel will take any and all suggestions under advisement.
Upon registering if you have any questions send them in. I'll then set up a general FAQ once the forum opens.
Good luck to all who enter and have fun!
