I've heard MVC mentioned a few times today. Can anyone explain what it stands for and who was in this group? I'm guessing Terry Gordy was. MVC stands for Miracle Violence Connection. It was only Gordy & Williams. The name was a play off of Baba's earlier booking of Stan Hansen & Bruiser Brody as the Miracle Power Combination. Two of the best gaijin teams in All Japan history.

Two of the best gaijin teams in All Japan history. Careful or you'll have to explain what gaijin means! I barely understand it all myself!

I've heard MVC mentioned a few times today. Can anyone explain what it stands for and who was in this group? I'm guessing Terry Gordy was. MVC= Miracle Violence Connection which is a tag team of Steve Williams and Terry Gordy. They were AJPW Unified World Tag Team Champions, WCW World Tag Team Champions, and the PWI Tag Team of the Year (1992). Even with the limited (pre-internet) knowledge I had at the time, when they came into WCW I knew it was a big deal simply because they were both awesome on their own and I'd heard tidbits that they had teamed in Japan. I loved how they handed the Steiners' butts to them. Too bad they didn't stick around for too long. If you're not familiar with the cliff notes of Japanese wresting history, that's probably why you weren't familiar with what MVC meant.

Foreigner doesn't just mean american. Its anybody from outside of Japan. The term Gaijin means "foreigner", but in pro-wrestling it's generally associated with the American/Western talent that a Japanese promotion brings in, hence me saying Foreigner/American. Not too hard to get.

I thought MVC stood for Miracle Violence Combination, not Connection.

I thought MVC stood for Miracle Violence Combination, not Connection. I've seen both names used, and not just by fans, on AJPW tapes as well.

The Miracle Violence Connection set from High Spots is outstanding - triple DVD set. They had some classic battles with Kawada & Misawa
