I'm shocked to see Ice and Wolfie step up to the plate and replace the brave Armstrongs. I'm not surprised loyal son Brad rushed to his Daddy's side at the hospital.
I wouldn't want to be Superstar, Muraco, Rhino and Hart is fit and raring to go.
Hopefully he'll bring his Georgia Jawjacker to even up the playing field!

Elsewhere, as the biggest Piper mark, I was pleased to see the 'Hot Scot' pick up a victory over the Superly.

Thanks for the comments Pariah, Crimson and Joebreakdown. Being a big fan of the Dukes of Hazzard back in the day I had to get them involved in 8MW and I was happy with how it turned out. For those unfamiliar with the show the speed trap set up by Boss Hogg would always catch a country music celebrity coming through town such as Loretta Lynn or Conway Twitty and they would perform a song at Boss' bar the Boar's Nest to get out of the ticket. It was pretty funny and I just had to use it and who better than Johnny Cash and Waylon Jennings getting caught. I thought about using all of the Highwaymen but settled on those two. After I read it all back I think if I fleshed it out a little I actually could have written this as a wrestling themed episode of the show

As for the in-ring action Dude Brohan has really gotten the better of Pierre the Enormous in their feud. The Bro Up has really helped him out. The Bladeblasters vs. The Masterminds is one match I am looking forward to. I didn't think of a tag bout between The Adventurers and Blood & Slashmaster but I may have to set that up.

Joe, I am sure that "Bullet" Bob Armstrong will be raring to go against the First Family when he gets back, Georgia Jawjacker and all. He and Brad may have to recruit some help against that foursome plus Jimmy Hart as right now the odds are stacked against them. Glad to see you enjoyed the victory for Piper over Snuka and though I don't play favorites when rolling the dice I have to admit I was pleased to see the "Hot Rod" win it as well.

Match Highlights:
A wild main event closed out Volume 43 as Saraya Knight made her version four defense of the SHIMMER title against former champion Jessicka Havok. The heat between these two was evident at WrestleCade 11 when Havok made an unscheduled appearance jumping Knight after she had injured Sara Del Ray, the Heart of SHIMMER champion. Havok jumped Knight before the bell setting the tone for a bout that took place as much outside the ring as it did inside. Havok hit her finisher, the Havokiller, early but Knight kicked out of it. They eventually settled on fighting outside where Havok bashed Knight with repeated chair shots resulting in the disqualification decision. “The Mountain” Vanessa Kraven, an ally of Havok, joined her for a post-match attack on the champion. Kraven earlier scored a dominant win over Athena and was clearly looking to make a statement. SHIMMER promoter Dave Prazak ordered officials to stop the attack and when the smoke cleared it was an angry Knight demanding justice. Prazak said that he was going to give her Volume 44 off but now has decided to have her defend the title against Kraven. That announcement pleased Kraven but Havok didn’t look to happy about it.

Another unhappy camper was Trish Stratus who lost her match to the powerful Kelly Klein, the second time that she has lost to Klein. It was a great bout that included Stratus escaping End of the Match and scoring a big near fall with a counter sunset flip, Klein overpowered her in the end, though, and got the win much to the delight of her new manager, Mademoiselle Rachelle. She spoke with Amber Gertner at ringside post-match bragging about Klein “dominating” Stratus when Trish interrupted her. She cut an emotional promo saying that if she can’t beat Klein and her BRB (Blonde, Red & Bad Ass) teammates Barbi Hayden and Taeler Hendrix in a handicap match she will leave SHIMMER. Rachelle laughed and accepted the challenge but Prazak stepped in refusing to sanction such a match. Stratus stormed off angry as Rachelle and Klein laughed it up. As for Hayden and Hendrix they were very impressive earlier beating Evie & Heidi Lovelace in a hard-fought tag bout. Rachelle said after that match that BRB would be getting rid of the “trash” in SHIMMER starting with Allison Danger & Davina Rose at Volume 44.

The Canadian Ninjas (Portia Perez & Nicole Matthews) extended their record to five reigns as SHIMMER tag team champions beating Made In Sin (Allysin Kay & Taylor Made) for the titles in a No DQ Match. This was an emotionally charged match as the Ninjas for the first time at the Eagles Club heard the cheers of the fans as they battled their opponents. It was also a brutal match that featured plenty of stiff shots and battles outside the ring. Made was busted open during the bout and nearly pinned after Funky Cold Medina but Kay made the save. In the end, it was the bloody Made that went down when Matthews blasted her with a Rolling Elbow Smash to score the pin. Amber Gertner interviewed the new champions at ringside and a teary-eyed Perez got emotional talking about “heart and determination” bringing the Ninjas back to the top which drew cheers from the crowd. Perez being Perez she cut them off and said she had to thank herself first and foremost and, after a brief pause, Matthews too which drew laughs from the fans.

Thanks for the comments Pariah. I was actually going in the direction of a rematch between Knight-Havok based on the result but then I thought Kraven deserved a shot too and now that adds some heat between her and Havok. I made the decision to turn The Ninjas face due to that emotional fifth title win but of course Portia Perez will remain the same character no matter what side she is on I forgot to address the Team PAWG vs. Dobson & Rush match in the highlights. That was a really good one and unfortunate that a winner wasn't determined. I am planning to have a rematch and the winning team will likely get a shot at the Ninjas for the tag titles.

Match Highlights:
Night One of King of Trios was filled with tremendous action, intrigue and even comical moments but the most anticipated match was the collision of the Bullet Club members in the main event. “The Phenomenal” AJ Styles, coming off his PWI Invitational Cup Tournament win at WrestleCade 11, led his allies Adam Cole and “Hangman” Adam Page into action against “The Elite” Bullet Club members of “The Cleaner” Kenny Omega, the reigning LOW Junior Heavyweight champion, and the Young Bucks (Matt & Nick Jackson). The tension has been building between both sides in Kings Road United in Japan and King of Trios presented by the IWA offered them the first chance to settle their differences. The match was filled with great performances from all six men, especially Cole who survived not only the One Winged Angel by Omega but More Bang For Your Buck from the Bucks.

Both sides emptied their chambers leading to a desperate finish as Omega used the Spray Can to blind Styles and roll him up for the pin. The Elite advanced to round two leaving an angry Styles, Cole and Page in their wake. Omega basked in the victory backstage as he spoke with PWI Editor Bill Apter saying that the win was proof that The Elite run Bullet Club. He also boasted about being the only champion in the group and said that Styles will fail in his upcoming LOW World Heavyweight title match with Andre the Giant just as he has failed as the alleged leader of the Bullet Club. Those harsh words did not escape Styles who later confronted Apter and said that Omega is a “punk” who runs with two “ass kissers” and that leadership is something that “The Cleaner” knows nothing about.

The opening match of the night was a grudge match pitting the Savage Dragons (Randy Savage, Bobby Fish & Kyle O’Reilly) against The Shield (Tyler Black, Jon Moxley & Drew Galloway). The “Macho Man” has had an intense rivalry with Moxley of late that has seen both reDRagon and Black and Galloway involved. This was a heated bout highlighted by Savage hitting his trademark axe handle from the top rope to the floor on Black. Moxley later got the upper hand on Savage nearly pinning him with a piledriver. In the end, it was Moxley losing his cool and getting The Shield disqualified when he used a chair and other weapons on Savage as they fought outside the ring. IWA Commissioner David Marquez later announced that Savage will face Moxley in a Steel Cage Match in Revere, MA (Card #1119)…The match between Team Technique (Johnny Saint, Bryan Danielson & Zack Sabre Jr.) and the Pringle Dynasty (Lance Hoyt, Brodie Lee & Big Duke) was considered by many to be a show stealer. Big Duke really impressed by surviving several near falls and holding his own in the match. Sabre Jr. won it for his team when he blasted Hoyt with a Rolling Elbow much to the chagrin of manager Percy Pringle III…Fans of The Colony (Fire Ant, Soldier Ant & Green Ant) are hoping to see them get a King of Trios win and their impressive win over The Mongols (Bepo, Geeto & Bolo) gives them great momentum going into Night Two…Two of the scariest teams in the tournament – Dem Crazy Boys (Jay Briscoe, Mark Briscoe & Necro Butcher) and Team Fireball (The Sheik, Kevin Sullivan & Eddie Gilbert) – engaged in a brutal battle. Team Fireball jumped Dem Crazy Boys outside the ring before the bell leading to a huge brawl. The Briscoes later hit Doomsday Device on The Sheik leading to a pin cover by Necro but Sullivan made the save. They went back out to the floor where Necro, in full view of the referee, was disqualified for repeatedly striking The Sheik with a variety of weapons. Team Fireball advanced to Night Two where they will face the United Friends (Mike Quackenbush, Eddie Edwards & Trent Barreta). That is because the UF trio scored an impressive win over Main Event (James Morgan, Adam Pearce & Dick Justice). The finish of a hard-fought bout saw Barreta with a counter superplex on Morgan followed by the Double Foot Stomp for the pin.

Two matches with comic overtones featured The Monarchy (Chris Hero, Claudio Castagnoli & Princess Kimberlee) vs. Animal Kingdom (Dragon Dragon, Swamp Monster & Victor the Wrestling Bear) and The Walking Dead (Harker Dirge, Sam Hayne & Blind Rage) vs. 68’ Comeback Special (Larry Sweeney, Lucas Calhoun & Pelvis Pressly). In the former match, the 550-pound Victor the Wrestling Bear was chained to a neutral corner by his handler where he would be unlocked when he was tagged in. Swamp Monster wound up tagging in Victor late forcing The Monarchy trio to scramble as they frantically tagged in and out. Castagnoli worked the most against the bear using his power to his advantage although Victor took him down quite a few times. Ultimately a European Uppercut by Castagnoli on Victor felled the bear. Kimberlee then tagged in and nervously climbed on the back of the muzzled Victor applying the Alligator Clutch which led to his handler throwing in the towel giving the win to The Monarchy…The 68’ Comeback Special team was the cult favorite team of the night with the crowd eating up their Elvis inspired antics. It was perhaps fitting that Pressly, a sports entertainment star from 80’s Mania Wrestling, ended it pinning the fearsome looking Hayne with a counter running lariat out of the corner. The question now is can 68’ Comeback Special overcome The Elite in the main event of Night Two?

Tons of wicked action... But, one moment stands high above them all.. Claudio drops a BEAR with his European uppercut... HOLY SNAP! He is the Swiss Superman indeed! THat maneuver alone has me pulling for the Monarchy to go all the way and win the King of Trios tournament...

Thoroughly enjoyed watching the two Bullet Club factions go to war... Specifically enjoyed your usage of this metaphor - Both sides emptied their chambers... Nicely worded... If the Cleaner thinks for one sec this settles the escalating issues between him and Styles... He's got another thing coming... After snapping the Giant's undefeated streak to become the LOW World champion, he's gonna show Omega what it means to be PHENOMENAL!

Unfortunate that the Shield got eliminated in the opening bout on a technical decision... Although it serves as a nice building block for the Savage - Moxley feud... Putting those two inside a steel cage is going to result in absolute mayhem...

Thanks very much for the comments Crimson and Pariah. King of Trios is off to a rocking start for sure. I just finished rolling out Night Two and I had a double snake eyes situation that led to an amazing chain of events. I am taking a break from it and am going to write it up and hopefully posted later tonight. If all goes will I will finish things out and post the finals sometime tomorrow.

@crimson Cross: Thanks for commenting on the team names, especially for Savage Dragons and Team Fireball. I always try to put together different pairings each year and that Sheik, Sullivan and Gilbert trio just seemed like a natural. I love your prediction of 68' Comeback Special over The Elite, that would definitely be an upset.

Pariah: Thanks for pointing out the "Both sides emptied their chambers" line, I think I even surprised myself with that one AJ Styles got cheated out of it on Night One but there are things to look forward to from the "Phenomenal" one, especially his getting a shot at the world title. It was no surprise to see "The Cleaner" take the easy way out. Claudio dropping Victor with the European Uppercut will be on the highlight reel for eternity. After he hit it I had him tag Kimberlee and she rolled her finish immediately and that was a real mark out moment for sure. I am already liking her joining the Kings as The Monarchy and it could become permanent. I also thoroughly enjoyed using Victor the Wrestling Bear. I hope to find another reason to use him in the future. I should add that "no animals were hurt during this wrestling performance"
