hi i am just starting out again with the new beginnings and am thinking of having color commentators . Has anyone else done this and if so did they make up their own characters or have retired superstars do the job for them .

I used my own guys that were really based upon other great (or not) announcers of the past...
Rackmanninoff - mostly Gorilla Monsoon Jay Winkle The Bull- Sort of a cross between Heenan and Lawler (former wrestler but not in GWF) Johnny "Beastman" Lobo - hmm...maybe Costos. Rocky De Skwerl - Todd Pentengill or any of the backstage...really green interviewers WWF has used. Howard Coattails - Howard Cosell Missy Hogbottom - an aged (but still perky) Misty Hyatt Eric Pistoff - Bishoff

This is an example of Rocky De Skwerl and Missy Hogbottom from a WGX developmental fed re-cap show...
Bi-Weekly Card #14 February 11th, 2084 Desert Area Prayer House and Merchant Plaza, Yildun Att: 3,048
In Studio: Rocky de Skwerl & Missy Hogbottom (Missy is setting on the left. she wants to get her good side.) RS: Welcome to V2W Roundup. I’m Rocky de Skwerl here with “the wrestling vixen”, Missy Hogbottom. MH: Call me Missy. K? RS: Missy and I will give you news, updates, and match highlights from the happenings in V2W, ‘see the stars before they are’. For new signees…let’s go to Missy. MH: Well, Rock, straight off their finals loss in the WGX Battlezone Invitational, V2W has signed The Aethrians…Maul and Reckless! RS: Wow, that’s great news. Any female signings? MH: Yes…a real sleeper. RS: Oh…hmm…Carmilla? MH: No. RS: Shatterstar? MH: No. RS: Who then? MH: Insomnia! RS: Oh! Well, let’s go to the action.
Poison v Vortex (7) Highlights: - Vortex slaps Poison in a figure-four but too near the ropes - Poison hits Vortex with a cane from a member of the audience and follows with CROSSBONES - Vortex hits a Jackknife Dive - Poison, on the outside, dives from the apron into Vortex - Vortex is thrown into the ring steps and Poison follows with a CROSSBONES Poison wins by Pin (CROSSBONES) Vortex suffers a Moderate (4 week) injury
RS: Some action! Poison picks up a much needed win. MH: Who cares about him…dirty peeping tom. RS: Err…let’s go to our next battle…V2W’s favorite son, Star Warrior, versus the veteran, Marcus Diablo Star Warrior v Marcus Diablo (6) Star Warrior hits: - CETUS SLEEPER (breaks hold) - Flying knee from turnbuckle - Flying body press (kick out) - Another flying knee - Throws Marcus Diablo from the ring - Marcus turns the tables on Star Warrior and slaps him in a DIABLO’S DREAM Later, Marcus hits: - Spanish slam - Dropkick - Karate kick Marcus Diablo wins by Pin (karate kick)
RS: Star Warrior is still struggling. MH: Yes, but doesn’t he look good? I mean, sometimes it’s better to look good than to be good, isn’t it? RS: Umm?!? MH: I’m just saying…I know I look good…and I’m not always ‘good’, you know? Sometimes, I can be downright ba… RS: Let’s go to a very special Missy Moment interview…we have fans that wanted to see Drake receive more airtime….if you’re one of those fans…this interview is just for you.
(Missy Moment music hits.) (Missy with Drake) MH: V2W Galaxian Champion, Drake…thanks for talking with me Dr: No problem, Ms. Hogbottom. MH: Call me Missy, k? Now, Drake, you have not been hesitant to voice your opinion that you should be in the WGX not the V2W. Dr: That’s right. MH: Why do you make such statements? Dr: Because it’s true. I mean it should be obvious to anyone with half a brain. I have demolished everyone in V2W. Thirteen straight wins. Why I was sent here to begin with…well it has to be political. MH: Political…like Republican and Democrat? Dr: Uhh…no. MH: …I just love those little elephants and donkeys…they’re so cute… Dr: Ms. Hogbottom? MH: Call me Missy, k? Anyway, why are you not in the WGX? Dr: As I was saying…I didn’t have Alcor behind me…or the ‘great’ Fear or Omega. Basically, I’m out here on my own…so Pistoff sent me here…to V2W. Then, when I get here…I don’t get the air time I need…All the time goes to the pretty boys…like Energy Express…Well, I resent being sent to a league that only has rookies who don’t know what their doing…this is where they send everyone that’s not ready for the ‘big time’…like you… (Missy begins to pout…as she realizes what Drake is saying) …well, I’m better than that…I am big time…so WGX…hear this… (Missy begins to sniffle) …I’ve played by your rules…well, my contract is up this month…and I’m coming WGX…I have demolished everyone I have faced…WGX, here I come! (Drake throws down his earpiece and microphone…Missy begins to cry….she sobs as Drake stomps out.)
RS: Tough interview, Missy. MH: (she begins to ‘cloud up’ again) It’s not true is it, Rock? RS: Umm…what, Missy? MH: That I’m here because I can’t cut it in the ‘big time’. (sobs) RS: Umm…of course not Missy…you here…mmm…to help me. MH: Help you? RS: Uhhh…yeah…I’m the one that’s…mmm...not ready. MH: Really?!? Than I should be telling you what to do? RS: Well, I didn’t… MH: Well, first of all, that tie does not go with that shirt…and… RA: Let’s go to our next match
Poison Dragon v Pistol Dawn© (3) Zoftic Title Match Poison Dragon hits: - Chinese Cobra - Rams Pistol Dawn into the railing - Slingshots Pistol Dawn into the railing - POISON THE DRAGON (kick out) - POISON THE DRAGON (pin) Poison Dragon wins by Pin (POISON THE DRAGON) Poison Dragon regains the Zoftic title
MH: …and your diction is terrible…are you chewing on marbles…I had an aunt… RS: Another turnover in the Zoftic Title…It seems that Pistol Dawn and Poison Dragon keep passing it back and forth like a bad cold. MH: …and her bursitis was killing her...anyway, she had this problem with… RS: (sighs) MH: …she’s the one that used to tell me about… RS: Be sure to join Missy and me in two weeks for the next V2W Roundup. And, be sure to see the “stars before they are”. MH: …been there done that…if you know what I mean…but… RS: HEY MISSY!…you look great.

hi i am just starting out again with the new beginnings and am thinking of having color commentators . Has anyone else done this and if so did they make up their own characters or have retired superstars do the job for them . For color commentators, I've used Iron Mane, Exo-King, Killer Queen, Trainer Jim, Dragonmaster, and Frenzy at different times. For play-by-play, I've made up my own characters. For interviewers, I've used Qualitar and used to use Rocket, but I've mostly made up my pwn.

Johnny Rocket, Reynard B. Guile, Billy Joe Boxer and Killer Queen are my regulars, and every once in a while Maxine Babe and Morpheus make the call.

When the booklets were more "press conference oriented," Tom had DragonMaster and Vanity as the official announce team.
IIRC, there was even a bootleg card floating around for a while that was put out by TournamentMaster (I could be wrong..I have about a billion boots and it's hard to keep track).
If you send him a PM, he might be able to hook you up. Pretty cool chart on back.

I started using tv announcers right after I finished Early Classics and started with 2087. At that time and for quite awhile there after, I was using Torin Caelum and Blacklash as my announcers.
I'm currently in 2118 and using Drangon Master and Reynard B. Guile for my announcerss. I was just recently using Vanity too but according to the official storyline he is off making another movie about himself in 2118. Amazing Badger is another guy I've used as an announcer in the past.

The mechanic was similar to Vidtek's current mechanic, with comments from both guys thrown in.
