The New Year had come and gone.
2119 had started with a whimper.
Hordes of wrestlers had been forced into early retirements due to cost-cutting measures installed by the Galactic Commission, a group of behind-the-scenes types who had assumed control over the Galactic Wrestling Federation just as the fabled New Beginning was taking root inside the GWF.
Old feuds were finished or forgotten.
New rivalries were threatening to boil over.
One man sat at the epicenter of it all.
One man had the job of bringing the GWF back to it’s former prominence.
That man was Massif, commissioner of the Galactic Wrestling Federation.
The first showings of gray hair nipped at his temples as he tried his mightiest to fulfill his job commitment while keeping the Galactic Commission out of his hair, keeping the Gamemasters under constant supervision, and stopping the Gladiators of Aerthra from turning his beloved GWF into their own personal battleground.
The hulking former wrestler knew that with a streamlined and younger roster of wrestlers he was going to be dealing with a heaping helping of egotistical grapplers testing both himself and the Galactic Code that he was sworn to uphold.
The question was, could he do it...?
Or, would the GWF be the death of him?
There could be only one way to find out...

[Deimos.]
[Federation HQ.]
[Most specifically, the office of Commissioner Massif.]
Massif: *ahem*
[As was becoming the norm, there were live cameras recording the GWF Commissioner. He was of course dressed as usual in a beige suit with black beneath it. His chiseled features carried a practiced and easy smile onto holo-vision screens across the Multiverse.]
Massif: Welcome, ladies and gentlemen, to the New Beginning of GWF!
[He pauses, smiling his smile.]
Massif: With all of the changes taking place recently in the GWF I wanted to personally invite each and every wrestling fan across the cosmos to jump aboard the bandwagon as we begin the newest and the greatest age of wrestling here in the GWF!
[He winks as he gives the camera a thumbs up.]
Massif: For starters, we’ll be broadcasting weekly right here on the Universal Broadcasting Corporation episodes of our brand new holo-vision show GWF Conflict! Each event will take place from the arena right here on Deimos, and when the action gets hot enough and the feuds start boiling over, we’ll also be broadcasting huge Uber-cards when warranted.
[Applause is piped in over the broadcast.]
Massif: As far as the Championships go, both the Galactic Heavyweight Champion Endgame and the GWF Tag Team Champions the Gladiators of Aertha will retain their titles and continue defending them through 2119 and beyond.
The Women’s Championship, currently held by Lorelei, will be held up for the time being. As it stands the Galactic Commission doesn’t believe that GWF has enough contracted female talent to give the proper respect to the lineage of the division.
And that brings me to the vacant Interplanetary Championship. That title will be decided this week on the first edition of GWF Conflict in the MAIN EVENT when Switchblade, Sly Drury, Swarm, and Kill Prey face each other in a Double Elimination Guantlet match! Each wrestler will face the other, alternating in and out as pinfalls are scored. A wrestler is eliminated once he has been defeated for two falls, and the Guantlet will go on until there is only one man remaining, the Interplanetary Champion!
[The giant former wrestler takes a moment straighten his tie as all of that information sets in. With a broad smile he continues.]
Massif: Now, as far as the Tag Team division is concerned, what I want is to see more competition! I want to see the Tag Titles as more than stepping stones to singles success in the future! As such, the GWF will be moving to a points-based structure for the Tag Team division. As such, teams will have to accrue three points in order challenge for the titles. Points are earned for any win in a tag team match. However, any loss will send that team’s point total back down to zero and they’ll have to start over!
I am especially excited about this new addition in the Tag Team division, and I hope the GWF fans will love it as much as I do!
[Another thumbs up.]
Massif: Well folks, that’s all the news for today! Expect the rest of the lineup for the first edition of Conflict to be announced in the coming days. We’ll see you at the matches, folks!
[With a broad smile, the broadcast comes to a close.]
[Seconds later, after he’s sure he’s no longer being recorded, Massif slumps back in his chair.]
Massif: [muttering to himself.] Christ, I hope I can keep this together...
[End.]

Sounds like a cool idea for a first event. Double Elimination Gauntlet match. Might only need to be the only match on the card! Looking forward to the result.
