Well, grapple-fans, interesting events at the GWF last night!
Things got off to an interesting start when MUTANT took on PULSAR in a singles match. The match seemed pretty evenly paced until, unseen by the referee, Mutant snuck a length of chain into the ring. Wrapping it around his fist, he knocked Pulsar out cold, and got the one-two-three.
What should have been a display of top class powerhouse wrestling turned into unbridled chaos as MASSIF took on EXO-KING. After a very evenly paced match, featuring some big moves by both contenders, Massif got himself tangled in the ropes, and at the mercy of Exo-King. The referee tried to hold off Exo-King until the trapped wrestler could free himself, but the king wasn't having any of it. He shoved referee-bot DQ-123 out of the ring, leaving the poor android no option but to rule it a no-contest.
Things took a turn for the brutal when KILLER QUEEN bolted down the aisle and proceeded (with the aid of the gigantic Exo-King) to piledrive Massif onto the concrete floor. Only the interference of COMMANDER SAM and OMEGA prevented any further injury, although it took a few security droids to break up the fight completely.
Massif has suffered a pretty bad neck injury, and doctors say he could be out for some time. We wish him a speedy recovery.
Backstage, our correspondent Lovely Lily managed to grab a few words with PULSAR. He expressed extreme anger at MUTANT, and called him out for a re-match. We hope to hear Mutant's reponse very soon.
Further chaos was in hand, however, as security cameras caught footage of BRUTE & MASSACRE, sneaking into the locker rooms to steal the GWF Tag Team belts!
Attention now turned to some more organised four-man fighting as BEAST RIDER & RENEGADE took on KILLER QUEEN & VANITY. The two cyborgs totally dominated the hapless Beast Rider, and his partner Renegade didn't manage to even get inside the ring before his partner was staring up at the lights.
Backstage, OMEGA expressed extreme anger with KILLER QUEEN, and challenged the gaudily dressed one to a showdown on next week's show!
Another total squash ensued as LORD KRAKAN took PIT VIPER to the cleaners in an embarrassing defeat.
In the break, our backstage cameras caught COMRADE TERROR mouthing off to COMMANDER SAM, but the American hero was having none of it, and refused to rise to the bait.
BRUTE & MASSACRE explained to Lovely Lily why they felt they could just take the tag belts "We already are the best team." ranted Massacre, "We'll get this dumb number one contender's match out of the way, but this is just a formality. Everyone knows where these belts belong."
Everyone's favourite lunatic WOLF faced up against THE EXECUTIONER in a especially brutal match that frequently spilled out into the ringside area. Something needs to be done about the lupine one before he does himself, or someone else, a serious injury. The Executioner ended up the worse for wear tonight, and required assistance leaving the ring.
In the backstage area, OMEGA once again caught up with our TV cameras and made everyone aware of just how badly he wants a showdown with KILLER QUEEN. Only the arrival of a blood spattered EXECUTIONER stopped him. The medieval warrior suggested that he and Omega should request a match together: himself and Killer Queen against Omega and WOLF. Omega was seen nodding his agreement.
The Tag-Title Number One Contendership was up next. If BRUTE could beat ACTAGON in a singles match, then he and his tag-partner MASSACRE would be granted a Tag-Title shot (possibly moot considering the mischevious pair were already in possession of the belts). Each wrestler was accompanied to the ring by his partner, but they played fair and didn't interrupt. It was a very evenly paced match, with much back and forth, and it took no less that three Decapitators in a row, before the champion was out cold, and Brute claimed the Title Shot. Taunting the Greek Gods with their own belts, Brute and Massacre ran laughing to the back.
The headlining match for the night was supposed to be the payback for the treachery which occured last week, when THANTOS turned on his friends...but instead, it seems that that may have been merely the beginning.
Thantos and his tag-partner COMRADE TERROR took on COMMANDER SAM and STAR WARRIOR in a exciting and evenly paced tag-match. After scoring the pinfall on Sam with a Nuclear Blast, The Reptilian Rapscallion proceeded to powerbomb him through the announce table. As Star Warrior ran to his friend's aid, he was struck down from behind by a large burst of crackling, blue energy. Thantos, standing on the turnbuckle, wearing the fabled Gauntlet of the Overlord had struck his one-time friend down with a vicious blast of electricity!
Friends, after the terrible events of last week, we all wanted to believe that things could only get better. Now, with the Tag Team Belts stolen, Thantos in posession of the Gauntlet of the Overlord and Massif, Sam and Star Warrior sidelined with grievous injuries...we may be witnessing the end of the GWF as we know it...
