I went with Evan Lewis, feud with Ed Lewis or maybe a Stranglers tag team.

I went with Pesek due to his tie in with Ed Lewis. This next set must be pretty spectacular if we only get to pick 1 out of these 3.
I love the vintage guys.

Another cool thing about getting a Pesek card would be the awesome drawing he could have if done right. Look at pics of that guy, especially the "grizzled vet" ones from later in his career. That face screams "I like to hurt people" without even trying.

Yeah, with the tie to Strangler Lewis, I went with Pesek. Already creating stories in my head.

John Pesek a million times over. People who have been around for a few years might remember that I've been a huge fan of his for a while now, and had been running off a John Pesek bootleg that I pushed pretty hard when I played a lot of legends three years ago. This guy really sounded like a tough dude, pinning professional boxers and submitting Olympic wrestlers so that Ed "Strangler" Lewis and Joe Stecher wouldn't have to face him.
In fact, I remember hearing a story about one of the few title matches he got against Joe Stecher. Supposedly the match was fixed in advance with Stecher to take the victory, so Pesek "shot" on him and won the first fall. In the second fall, Pesek had Stecher pinned on multiple occasions, but the referee kept refusing to count the pinfalls, so Stecher shot on him again and forced Stecher into submission... but then the next day they ruled it a disqualification because they decided that Pesek "strangled" Stecher... thereby keeping the title on Joe Stecher.
Ever since then, both Ed "Strangler" Lewis and Joe Stecher ducked "Tiger Man" John Pesek every single chance that they had.

With no video footage to work with how do you come up with stats for guys from the pioneer days of wrestling ? just curious A lot of the info comes from newspaper articles, books and other written materials. The library at the Dan Gable International Wrestling Institute & Museum in Waterloo, IA has been a great resource. Many times we can find a good number of moves the wrestlers used. Sometimes we update the terminology a little to conform with modern wrestling/MMA verbage. To fill in the blanks, we'll use moves and holds described in " Lessons in Wrestling & Physical Culture" written by Farmer Burns in 1914.

I voted for Muldoon. I would love all three, but...we need faces, and Muldoon seems like the most natural face...

I voted for Muldoon. I would love all three, but...we need faces, and Muldoon seems like the most natural face... I voted for Muldoon. I would like to use him as a face in my Legends fed and his police force background also could set up some pretty cool storylines. Pesek is currently leading the poll though and I'll still of course definitely be really happy if he is the one chosen. I can see Pesek and Lewis together possibly being one of the entries in next year's 4th Annual Sammartino Invitational. Because they're all listed as options on the poll, I'm guessing there is a good chance we'll see all 3 of these wrestlers in LOW at some point. Sometimes Lewis and Pesek wrestled each other too. I recently finished reading Lou Thesz's autobiography "Hooker" and it talked about a match Lewis (who was Thesz's mentor) had late in his career against Pesek. Thesz wrote that Pesek was supposed to lose this best 2 out of 3 falls match to Lewis. But when Lewis got to the arena Pesek demanded that the plan be changed so that he would win the match because he thought Lewis looked too sick to be a credible winner. But Lewis got mad and in the first fall wrestled competitively against Pesek and pinned him clean in the center of the ring in about 7 minutes. Between falls when the wrestlers went back to the dressing room, Pesek sent over a note to Lewis apologizing and saying he had misjudged Lewis and asked that they perform the rest of the match according to the orginal plan of Lewis taking the win. But Lewis was still mad and sent back a reply of "Tonight we're wrestling" and then proceeded to pin Pesek even quicker in the second fall.
