2119.01.01 Niagara Tower of Lights, New York, USA Earth – GWF War Zone
Match 1: Havoc w/Thrash v. Reckless
A capacity crowd is on hand to witness the first card of the GWF’s New Beginning. Reckless is out to a huge ovation especially from the youngsters at ringside. Havoc is out to a mixed reaction and plays up to the fans are ringside. Thrash is not impressed and tells Havoc to focus on his opponent. Baruum Forus is the referee in the ring. Thrash’s warning must have sunk in because the Gladiator of Aethra dominates the action. The fans at ringside eat it up when Havoc sails off the top of the buckles with a dive onto Reckless at ringside leading to a near count out. Havoc taunts the crowd as the referee makes his count but Reckless regains the ring. Havoc will not be denied tonight and his punishes Reckless. At one point Havoc hits a Gothic Tomb followed by FALLEN DREAMS but only scores a two count. Later, Reckless kicks out another FALLEN DREAMS but Havoc follows up with a third for the win. Hot opener gets the fans into the action. ***
Match 2: Valour v. Encubus w/Thantos
Thantos is out to classic heat as he leads his son to the ring. Valour storms ringside and is ready for a fight dominating the opening minutes. Valour grabs a chair from ringside and decks Encubus and then makes the cover but Thantos is arguing with Phillip Haas about the chair shot and the action continues. Valour unleashes WARRIOR’S RAGE but Encubus kicks out of the cover. Encubus makes his comeback at ringside and slows down Valour with a MAFFIE MASTERLOCK but Valour powers out. Encubus tosses Valour to the floor and that Thantos attacks Valour with a MASTERLOCK and the referee calls for the bell. Thantos costs his son the match. * ½
Match 3: Thrash w/Havoc v. Lorelei
Thrash returns to ringside drawing great heat. Lorelei is well respected by the fans. Baruum Forus calls for the bell and we are underway. Lorelei knows she has to use her speed to avoid Thrash’s power moves and that is exactly what she does. Lorelei surprizes a few fans by not backing down when the action goes to the floor and actually dominating her Gladiator opponent. Lorelei’s courage pays off after both competitors exchange near falls when a Centraurus Leg Lock sets up MATERNAL RAGE and gets her the win. *
GWF War Zone
We get a panoramic view of the stadium and the place is jammed.
We are live on the Holonet as GWF War Zone returns. Commissioner Massif comes to the ring to address the fans and tells us that recent events around the Galaxy have caused him to have to make some very tough decisions but he pleased to announce that the GWF is alive and well. Massif tells us that going forward some of the competitors may have changed but what has not changed is the fact that this is the home of the best wrestling action in the Galaxy. Massif tells us that the GWF Title and GWF Tag Team Titles have been declared vacant. Massif continues explaining that new Tag Team Champions will be crowned at a tournament scheduled for Galactimania on card 2119.01.05. As for the GWF Title, a round robin tournament will start tonight. 12 competitors have been divided into two groups. Each competitor will face the other in their own group one time with points being awarded for wins. At the end of the round robin competition, the competitors with the highest point totals in each group will face in a singles match at The Great Galaxian Bash, Card 2119.01.15 to determine the new GWF Champion.
Match 4: Fighting Titans v. Society of Death w/Thantos
Solid heat for Thantos has he leads his team to the ring. The ovation for the Titans is off the charts and Tristan gives a mask to a young fan at ringside. Thantos has words for Phillip Haas before the bell even sounds. Tristan steps in against the powerhouse Tanck to start the match and actually takes the battle to his much larger opponent. The action settles down and both teams make tags. The Betrayer cuts off Payback off from his corner and hits two ALL FALL DOWNS and a BLACK FUNERAL but cannot put Payback away. Tanck tags in and Tristan is able to make the hot tag but the power of Tanck proves too much this time. A Show of Power nearly ends it but the IRON MAN VISE does as Betrayer prevents Payback from making the save. **
We are backstage with a group of legends enjoying the evening. The fans pop when the vid came pans past Wolf. Star Warrior is among them and he cuts a promo hyping the GWFZ telling the fans to watch for events featuring future GWF stars shortly.
We go to the announcers pod and they hype Galactimania telling us that the following eight teams will battle for the Tag Team Championship. The teams are Havoc & Paralyze, The Trouble Shooters, Stars & Stripes, High Stakes, Center Stage, Genesis, Ani-Men Invasion and The Society of Death.
Match 5: Galaxian Title Round Robin Title Tournament Match- Block B - Epoch w/Slave Beast v. Tauran
The announce team explains that Epoch and Tauran are part of Block B in the tournament along with Encubus, Payback, Bloodline & Paralyze. Slave Beast comes out and introduces Epoch drawing off the hook heat. Torin Caelum is our official and we are underway. The opening battle between Genesis and the Colonizers is intense from the outset. Despite Caelum’s reputation as a strict official he lets things go and Tauran busts Epoch wide open during the wild action on the floor. Only the interference of Slave Beast saves Epoch from a TAURAN SHARPSHOOTER and changes the momentum of the bout. Epoch has lost too much blood and cannot keep the advantage. The action goes back outside and Tauran sends Epoch into the ring post and this time Caelum has seen enough and makes the disqualification call. ***
As we are shown a panoramic view of the stadium the announcers tell us about one sale dates for GWF events at Ceres Amphitheatre, Titan Sportatorium and Venus Space Station Complex.
We go to the announce pod and they hype our main event as Bloodline takes on the Gladiator powerhouse Paralyze in Block B action of the Galaxian Title Tournament.
Match 6: Center Stage w/Vin Strutter v. Ani-Men Invasion w/She Devil
Vin Strutter comes to the ring and that can only mean one thing, it is time for the Greatest Show in the Galaxy. The Amazing Mann comes to the ring and shows off his skills escaping a strait jacket before Steele Freak is wheeled to ringside in a cage. All the time, the fans show their disgust. Phillip Haas is the referee assigned to the match so this one could be a wild contest. All four men see action before Haas gets taken out with a deathjump smash by Antak. With the referee down Antak has Freak beat with FORMICID and moments later it is Antak is downed by Mann’s cobra clutch but Haas is still not recovered. Haas regains his senses (10 moves) and that match is allowed to continue. Minotaur and Freak tear into each other which really hypes ringside. Minotaur is counted out after Freak runs Minotaur into his portable cage. The action does not stop at the bell as Freak rams Minotaur into the cage several more times and then uses FRENZIED HEAD SLAMS at ringside while Mann traps Antak in CONTORTION in the middle of the ring. Swarm hits ringside with steel chair in hand to break up the attack. Minotaur is a bloody mess and needs medical attention along with assistance leaving ringside. ***
We are backstage and Payback confronts Bloodline. Payback wishes Bloodline good luck tonight but warms him to save something because Payback is going to take him to the extreme when they meet at Galactimania.
Match 7: Galaxian Title Round Robin Title Tournament Match- Block A - Swarm w/She Devil v. Sly Drury w/Thantos
The Evil Gamesmaster draws heat as he returns to ringside. Swarm and She Devil looked pre-occupied after the injury to Minotaur in the last bout. The announcers tell us that the other block A competitors are Endgame, Disaster, Switchblade and Kill Prey. Torin Caelum calls for the bell. Devil quickly gets Swarm focused on the task at hand and the leader of the Ani-Men of Andromeda looks impressive. At one point Swarm dives out onto Drury at ringside in a great looking spot. After picking up several near falls, Swarm has the match won with a HORNET’S STING but Thantos enters the ring and distracts Swarm leading to near fall by a Drury roll up. Swarm will not be denied tonight and regains control without much resistance and picks up the win with another HORNET’S STING. ** ½
As we are shown a panoramic view of the stadium we get an advertisement for Galactimania at Demios Intergalactic Arena which will feature the tournament to determine the new Galaxian Tag Team Champions and Bloodline v. Payback in block B Title Tournament Action.
We go back to footage from earlier tonight with Stars & Stripes arriving at the Niagara Towers of Lights causing a frenzy at the entrance way.
Match 8: Stars & Stripes w/Latasha v. The Trouble Shooters w/Phantasy
The ovation for Stars & Stripes blows the roof of the arena. Phillip Haas draws the officiating assignment so he appears to have recovered from the bump he took earlier tonight. Phantasy works the crowd for heat as we get underway. U. S. Male steps in against Muss and scores with a dropkick. Male salutes and Stars and Stripes immediately go for DAWN’S EARLY BLIGHT and hit it for the win. The fans explode as Haas finishes the three count. The action is not done however as American Guy wants some more of the Troubleshooters. AMERICAN FIREPOWER takes out The Bomb and it is a second DAWN’S EARLY BLIGHT for Muss. Phantasy drags Muss to the floor before any more damage can be done. Muss needs to be assisted to the back. Dud
Backstage, the vid-cam is forced to pan for Paralyze who cuts a promo telling the fans that his destruction of Bloodline tonight will serve as a warning to anyone who stands in the way of the Gladiators.
Match 9: Galaxian Title Round Robin Title Tournament Match- Block A – Bloodline v. Paralyze/Thrash
Bloodline is out to cheers from ringside and he appears shocked by the fans show of support. Massif wants to make sure that this one does not get out of control and has assigned Torin Caelum to referee the match. The action starts off slow with neither man getting the advantage. The match spills to the floor and Disaster runs Bloodline into the rails at ringside and Caelum calls for the quick disqualification. The Gladiator snaps and immediately goes after the Caelum taking him out with Brutal Infliction. The fans fill the ring with trash. Medical officials arrive quickly to check on Caelum and Massif arrives as well. The Commissioner is not pleased and suspends Paralyze for 4 cards. That means Havoc has no partner for the Galaxian Tag Team Title Tournament at Galactimania. *
GWF War Zone goes off the air.
Match 10: Disaster v. Endgame
In our final dark match of the night, the fans give Endgame an huge ovation. Phillip Haas is our referee and we are underway. The action in this one is off the hook. Disaster’s power attack sets the pace early on. Somehow, Endgame is able to hang on even after back to back RAMPAGES. The crowd cannot believe that Endgame is still in the match and Endgame begins his comeback with back to back ULTIMA LEAPS that does not get the job done. The match goes back and forth. Disaster scores with a deathjump clothesline and Endgame counters with a deathjump crossbody block for a near fall. Disaster catches Endgame mounting the top of the corner and tosses him to the mat. That turns the match for the final time and the Gladiator gets the win with a RAMPAGE. *** 1/2
