Former WWE talent Harry Smith will be among the troupe of wrestlers traveling to Mumbia, India this week to tape the first footage for TNA Wrestling's planned debut on the television network Colors.
California based independent wrestler Joey Ryan announced Monday on Facebook that he will participate in the project. He wrote, "Beginning this week, I will be working for TNA Impact Wrestling on their upcoming India project. I want to publicly thank David Lagana and Jeff Jarrett for the opportunity."
Canadian based independent tag team Bollywood Lions—Gurv Sihra and Harv Sihra—have also signed on for the project. Gurv wrote on Facebook, "Excited to announce that my brother Harv and I have been signed on to take part in TNA Wrestling's upcoming project in Mumbai, India! Very blessed and fortunate for this opportunity!"
Other talent reportedly scheduled for the project include Abyss, Alissa Flash, Arya Daivari, Chris Masters, Chavo Guerrero, Cliff Compton, Jimmy Rave, Luke Gallows, Matt Morgan, Nick Dinsmore, Shawn Daivari, Sonjay Dutt and Zema Ion.

sounds interesting. Good talent on board, but it's still TNA.

For all the company's faults, in recent years TNA has done a standout job in monetizing their presence abroad. Overseas television contracts in markets like India, South Korea, Thailand and Turkey have been pure profit ventures. Even their occasional tours do respectable business. This is an area where Dixie has legitimately done well.

sounds interesting. Good talent on board, but it's still TNA. Dave Lagana, who used to write for Smackdown and ECW, is in charge of this brand so I'd give it more hope than I would to Bruce Pritchard, Vince Russo & Co. in the Florida Impact Zone.

I've been reading feedback from Indian fans/residents about this and all of them predict certain failure for TNA.
According to these fans, India has never really been a huge market for pro-wrestling. There are very few people above the age of 20 who follow it regularly.
The roster TNA is sending over is not what you would think. Here is the current line up: Harry Smith, Joey Ryan, Canadian based independent tag team Bollywood Lions, Abyss, Alissa Flash, Arya Daivari, Chris Masters, Chavo Guerrero, Cliff Compton, Jimmy Rave, Luke Gallows, Matt Morgan, Nick Dinsmore, Shawn Daivari, Sonjay Dutt and Zema Ion.
Furthermore, it seems as if India fans associate ALL wrestling with WWF. Not WWE but WWF. Doesn't matter who is wrestling. Weird, I know. But that's what they're saying. Here is a quote:
Most of the people here at-least know what a pro-wrestling show is about (though mostly kids and a very few adults watch it regularly). But for them prowrestling means WWE (with many still calling it as WWF). No one even cares what show is going on TV. If couple of guys fighting in the squared circle seen on TV.. Its WWE/F. The biggest problem TNA will face is, make themselves aware to the people of India that they are a different promotion. Dont be surprised if people go to their seats having Cena, HHH and Undertaker posters in their hand!
Lastly, it seems like TNA has timed this poorly. TNA is supposed to be airing these shows in January. Also, the India-Australia cricket series is being played in Jan-Feb, which is a HUGE deal. TNA(and for that matter WWE), cannot even think about competing with cricket(that too such an important series) in India.
another quote from what I've been reading:
Why TNA india is a bad idea? because wrestling is synonymous with WWE, everybody knows what professional wrestling is in India. People know that it is fake, apart from the kids.
Until and unless you have big names like Cena, Orton, Taker, etc.. wrestling would never work in India. When WWE did their tour around ten years back, the tickets had the picture of The Big Show.. he wasn't even in WWE at that time.
People out here have the sensibility and buying power to know what to watch, kids also wouldn't be forcing their parents to go and watch a show they have never heard about.

Colors TV has put the first episode up on youtube. It looks good. In fact, it kind of irritates me that they can't put on a show this slick looking for fans in the United States. Maybe being in front of an actual live audience instead of that life-sucking "Impact Zone" in Orlando is part of it, but there's no denying the production looks way better.
Here's part 2 of 5. Part one is just a song and dance number type thing to get things warmed up. This is where they introduce the participants in the title tournament and the awesomely cartoonish looking commissioner character (check him out at about 10 minutes 15 seconds in if you don't want to watch it all). Part 3 starts the wrestling. Most of the Indian wrestlers are very raw since they had to train them from the ground up for this show, but Dinsmore does an okay job at leading his opponent through an "A,B,C" basic type of match.
