Hey all - rather than post an entire lineage (still playing through the history), I want to share with you a rather unique title change involving two emerging stars in my GWF fed.
Kati, The Samoan Warrior is a unique star in my feds, in that he receives no real push, is involved with no feuds, and is pretty much a meat and potatoes kind of wrestler. He made some waves two years ago with both performing well in The Gauntlet Match, as well as defeating Raven for the IP Title. He held on to it for four months before losing it to Matador of M83.
Fast forward to 2102. In May, he defeated Heracles in an epic Last Man Standing Match to win the GWF Heavy Metal title. At Gauntlet 2102, he earned a shot against new IP Champion Nefarus, and became a rare two-title champion.
The way my fed works is, whoever is on the best winning streak on the card gets an IP title shot. The Heavy Metal belt is only defended when the opponent is either a feuding opponent, or a HM division contender. He had a title defense two cards later against someone who hit both criteria - The Draconian Sheik.
As usual, the HM title is defended using a randomly drawn stipulation. But in the case of a two-belt championship defense, both belts are defended at once if the opponent qualifies for that title. So, both the IP ans HM titles were up for grabs in a Battle Royal Rules Match. First wrestler to throw his opponent over the top rope (roll out of the ring, then roll pin).
To my surprise, neither man could throw the other out of the ring! Worse, with Draconian Sheik's add 1 move, Kati eventually accumulated 10 fatigue tokens. In my fed, 10 tokens warrants an automatic referee stoppage, which counts as a submission victory for the other wrestler.
So with Kati lying in a bloody mess in the ring and unable to continue the match, The Draconian Sheik was awarded the IP Championship. However, because the match ended without Kati going over the top rope, Kati is still the Heavy Metal Champ.
This was one of the more interesting title changes in my fed. We have an IP Champion in The Draconian Sheik, who did not make his opponent submit or pinned him. And we have a Heavy Metal Champion in Kati, who even though was ruled out of the match, did nothing to cause that title to change hands. We have one champion earn their belt without a pinfall of submission, and his opponent who lost the title due to referee stoppage still retained their belt.
Where do things go from here?
