THas there been ANY direct evidence that this "bonus" system has caused an illegal hit? Has any player come out and said, "I took out his knees for the extra $1500?" If so, I apologize. However, I do not think that is the case. ya bro the coach fessed up and admitted to everything. Same with the HC, GM etc..etc...blown wide open.

I understand that he admitted to the bounty system, but I dont not think we will every see any evidence that a player intentionally caused an injury via an illegal hit.

Quite the punishment, but I admit it's probably what had to be done.

Great job by Goodell. He absolutely had to do this. I'm surprised they didn't permanently ban Gregg Williams from ever coaching again.
The thing about this is that it's still not over. With reports that Vilma and other players put money into the "bounty pot" for knockout shots, I'm waiting to see what happens to the players. They need to face heavy fines & suspensions.
I couldn't stand when one of the ESPN guys interviewed Goodell and he said, "What do you say to the people who say you are taking $6 million off the table for Sean Payton?"
Why a reporter needs to ask that question nowadays is ridiculous. Here's what you do -- tell whatever idiotic fan that said that that Payton took the money out of his own pocket when he condoned this activity and then lied about it and told his coaching staff to lie about it?
Don't just ask questions because some fans will ask that question.
Big black eye for the league but I think Goodell did a good job of lowering the boom and sending a message that this won't be tolerated.

The appeal has no chance now! Released audio taken prior to the Saints playoff game versus the 49ers includes instructions from Williams to his defense to deliver head shots to Alex Smith and Frank Gore and to twist Vernon Davis' ankle at the bottom of the pile. That's dirty football no matter how you spin it. Audio link here: www.sports790.com/player/?mid=21971195

Anything that is breaking news that comes from ESPN immediately gets the "wait and see if it is true or just ESPN making crap up to get ratingss" treatment. sports.yahoo.com/news/saints-deny-espn-report-alleging-214116095--nfl.htmlIf this "anonymous source" turns out to be bullshit, it might be ESPN being the ones needing attorneys. Saints spokesman Greg Bensel called the report ''1,000 percent false.'' ''We asked ESPN to provide us evidence to support their allegations and they refused,'' Bensel said. ''The team and Mickey are seeking all legal recourse regarding these false allegations.''
