www.thephinsider.com/2012/3/2/2840054/nfl-news-new-orleans-saints-busted-for-bounty-fundSaints - Fucked. Greg Williams - Fucked. Could be out of the NFL when this smoke clears... Brees? He won't want to go down with this sinking ship...he'll instead join Washington, Miami or Cleveland and probably double screw the Rams (who stand to lose their DC and their trade leverage if/when Brees becomes a FA) Draft picks being taken away, suspensions, fines...wow With how serious the NFL takes concussions, evidence showing the Saints intentionally paid players to give concussions is cause for MAJOR lawsuits...Peyton Manning, Kurt Warner could easily sue the NFL for millions...because of that the NFL will probably give the Aints the death penalty. Get your popcorn ready fans!

Williams is the mastermind behind this and did reportably the same thing in Washington. So what death penalty did the Skins get?

My immediate thoughts (okay, not that immediate...I posted this elsewhere yesterday).
1. I hope Gregg Williams never coaches another down in football, on any level.
2. If Roger Goodell wants to put his money where his mouth is regarding player safety, he'll make an example out of the Saints and Williams. Williams gets the unilateral Pete Rose/Dexter Manley treatment, ASAP. No kidding around with this one.
3. Sean Payton needs to be suspended (if Tom Benson doesn't fire him, which he probably won't). For how long, I don't know, but it needs to be at least the equal of any personal conduct policy suspension accrued by a player. Blatant approval of, or denial about, paid bounties needs to be dealt with right now. It is long, long, LONG overdue for the NFL to be looking at coaching techniques and encouragement and disciplining on THAT level, if they want to be serious about player safety.
4. GM Mickey Loomis was reportedly directed by Tom Benson to end the bounty pot and didn't do so. This blatant act of insubordination needs to result in his firing.
5. I don't want to frigging hear, "Everybody does it." It was a stupid argument during Spygate and it's a stupid argument now.
6. I don't know how to begin carrying out discipline with the players themselves, though something needs to happen. I'm a hardliner on this topic and even I will admit that suspending all of them at once probably isn't the right move. Goodell will have to figure that out.
7. The organization needs to lose some amount of draft picks--a bigger penalty than what the Patriots got or even what the T-Wolves got some years ago. I'd say the entirety of this year's draft, all 7 picks, would work. Let them stock the team the same way they did when they expanded in 1967. Maybe that will force Benson's hand into firing his GM.
This is a flagrant violation of a league rule that's issued in a memo every year, and it's gone way past the line of physical tough defense into playing with intent to injure. Examples need to be made from this situation, and I hope Roger Goodell and Tom Benson both have the guts to do it despite how good at acquiring talent Mr. Loomis might be.

They have no 1st rounder to take (traded away last year to the Patriots to move back into 1st and select Mark Ingram). Stripping them of all of their 2012 picks (2-7) and next year's 1st is a realistic probability.

Ok......... I have to defend my team. If that's possible here? :/ 1. Again I ask, what happened to the Redskins for the same exact thing with Williams. 1. ...and why are the Saints being the ones crucified for Williams gross neglect of the rules and none of his other teams? 2. How many and who was injured in games against the Saint's in 09?
.....That's all I got but two really legit questions.

Ok......... I have to defend my team. If that's possible here? 1. Again I ask, what happened to the Redskins for the same exact thing with Williams. Redskins never got caught buddy. And Williams only admitted to it in New Orleans. Already Joe Gibbs is coming out to defend himself and say he knew nothing about it. I suppose this could reach out farther and nip teams like the Skins or guys like Jeff Fisher, but ultimately it's going to take giant bite out of New Orleans. 2. ...and why are the Saints being the ones crucified for Williams gross neglect of the rules and none of his other teams? 2. How many and who was injured in games against the Saint's in 09? Same answer as number one. And it doesn't matter who was injured or how severely once the attempt to injure is obvious, and Williams admitted to it so it doesn't get anymore black and white than that.

Dear NFL. I have no idea why everyone thinks it is a bad thing to have bounties put out on opposing players. Sincerely. Tonya Harding.

Plot thickens as now both Washington and Buffalo (Dennis Holmes uh oh) are being investigated for bounties while Williams coached there. If the investigation uncovers any higher-ups being aware of this look for some serious heads to roll. If this goes deep in Buffalo the Bills could find themselves in Toronto pronto. Wouldn't that just be the perfect excuse for Goodell to move them? I really wonder how hard (if at all) the NFL will come down on the players involved. If they try, the players union will surely attack, threatening to expose other teams who have probably at once time practiced similar violations. I think in the end it will be the coaches, GM's and overall franchises who will suffer the most. profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2012/03/04/report-bills-had-bounty-system-under-gregg-williams/
