With the age of social media, online dating has become big business. Below is an infographic on 'looking for love' online. Among the guys I know who use sites like Plenty of Fish, men who have mastered it for their purposes, they aren't using it to find a future wife or soul mate. Courtesy of MBA Programs.org The Truth About Online Dating and the Business of Love"It turns out people like to lie and online dating profiles are no exception. On average women claim to be 8.5 pounds lighter and have profile pictures about 1.5 years old. Men on average claim to be 2 pounds lighter and use profile pictures taken about 6 months ago. People’s need to find a significant other has turned out to quite profitable for online dating sites.
Even though people lie on their profile pages the amount of people using or visiting online dating sites has doubled in the past five years. Today’s infographic claims couples who meet via an online dating site are much quicker to get to the alter, dating an average of 18.5 months before getting married. Where as couples who met in the “real world” take about 42 months to get married. Makes me wonder what the personality differences are between people meeting online and in the real world."

Very interesting article Paint. I think I've previously mentioned that I own a mobile DJ company and about 90% of our events are weddings. Over the past few years I've noticed these common traits about couples that met online (and if you read this and met your spouse online, please do not take offense; I'm just stating my findings)...
-Like the article mentioned, most online couples get engaged quickly and/or have a very short engagement. I recently met with a couple who had only known each other for 3 months before getting engaged.
-Most of these couples are on the picky side when it comes to the details of their wedding reception (song choices, "do not play" this or that, 217 dedications to people, etc.). The term "Bridezilla" gets tossed around a lot, LOL.
When a couple tells me they met online, that's a red flag for me. Now don't get me wrong, I've had a few online couples as clients that were great to work for, but most tend to be a little tricky to deal with.
