Really surprised to see Aries win. Really thought they would keep the title on Roode longer.
Ion is a disappointment though but I understand keeping the title on a TNA vet.

As a longtime big WWE fan (for example, I am traveling next door to California next month to see Summerslam live for the 3rd year in a row,) although I personally did not like the results of the X Division match, I am giving TNA its due tonight and saying this was overall a good PPV.

Wow. What originally came off as an attempt at something new, now the whole show looks like another amateur effort cock block attempt at the WWE. With MITB one week away, it looks like TNA tried their own hand (aka stole) another idea from the WWE and threw theirs out there quickly, haphazardly, and unfinished. And the result is failed shock TV. For TNA, this is now the norm.

maybe we can get an upgraded TNA World champion Austin Aries card ;D Exactly what I just tweeted Tom about. I really enjoyed the show and that's saying something because TNA has been so off-putting to me for so long. Great to see Rubix, Cameron & Mason Andrews as well as Johnny Yuma. Wasn't fond of Ion winning, especially with that horrible finish, but cool to see Aries win. If I had paid for the show I would've probably gave it a 6/10. Since my friend paid, I'd give it a 8

TNA has actually been pretty good for the past 2 months, it's been all up hill since replacing Russo with Lagana. I agree it's been considerably better the past few months and it's giving me the itch to head back to the Impact Zone sometime soon considering I live just 15 minutes away. Hopefully they keep it up.

So I ordered the replay of this after reading positive things, and I am currently watching it. It's fine so far. I liked the opening rounds of Ultimate X, it reminded me King of the Ring, which I always liked. I'm sort of a tournament mark, I guess.
Zima Ion has regressed in the past few years. He used to be so good when he was a local Ohio guy.
Jigsaw has never done anything for me. If there was a Chikara wrestler involved, I would have rather seen Hallowicked I think, although maybe his style isn't quite what they are going for.
The product strikes me as a lot more adult than WWE. It was justt something I noticed, not something that made me think "thank the lord, finally a wrestling show for my age". Seeing Kurt Angle say what the f doesn't really do much for me.
Speaking of, I liked the Joe/Angle match more than I thought I would. I thought the finish was well booked. Sometimes, the obvious and simple answer is the correct one, and I thought that this was the best finish for all involved.
The last time I cared about Chris Daniels was when he won the super junior tournament in like 2000 and was going to be the next big thing. Since then, he has done nothing that has really interested me. AJ Styles has an awful tattoo. That spot at the end was sick though. Another really good finish.
Ultimate X was what it was. I really want to talk about the biggest misstep of the night: doing the post match promo directly in front of the worst fans ever. ion's promo was awesome, and all you heard was that guy chanting fruity pebbles and whatever else. It made me so mad. Why not do that in the ring, where a promo like that could actually get heat?
I think TNA did themselves a bit of a disservice by showing the hieght and weight difference. Because they so blatantly lied about Aries, they made the difference seem much smaller and less of a big deal than it actually was in the match.
Bobby Roode's entrance is awesome. It really makes him seem like a huge deal. Unfortunately, I found him really bland after that. Aside from the announcers saying so, Roode didn't really do anything that made it seem as though losing the belt would be a big deal for him.
The TNA crowd is the worst. they only cared about that match for like the two seconds at the end.
Anyway, that pay per view was fine. It was fun to watch, but I don't think I'll be spending another 40 anytime soon.

Here is what the promoter of Future Stars of Wrestling (FSW- the local Indy fed here in Las Vegas who still has Kenny King as a regular) posted online about Austin Aries (who last year wrestled for FSW multiple times) winning tonight: Congratulations to a man who was in FSW just over 1 year ago. Not only did Austin Aries wrestle a brilliant match, he ran a seminar with our students. Austin Aries is now the TNA Heavyweight Champion, and today proved size doesn't matter. Whether you are big or small, if you work your ass off, eventually someone will pay attention. For all the FSW students, remember practice makes perfect. Work hard, and you will get rewarded for your actions. Don't bust your ass, and you will stay right where you belong. . Speaking of FSW here on Friday night (Paul London made his FSW debut- next month here at Sam's Town it is Kendrick and London vs Reno Scum!)- Kenny King (who was not there on Friday night- but he is booked for Sam's Town next month ) was mentioned and his name rightfully got a loud ovation! Edit: on a side note, speaking of Reno Scum- I linked their entrance music video below. They are a really good tag team- I still don't understand why Hater Nation instead of Reno Scum are the current FSW Tag Team Champions. www.myspace.com/video/vid/35451241

So a ppv with no Sting, Hogan, Jarrett, etc. Works for me. Roode as Champ was one of the few reasons I watched TNA, but Aries finally got his shot.

See, I thought TNA had a great, for them at least, PPV. Aries winning, cleanly, was awesome and gives them a rematch next month with Roode using all the heel tactics he used to keep the title to try and win it back. Just for the shock of Aries winning, when they seem to be building towards another Storm vs Roode match at BFG in October, to me sends a message of that old school anything can happen feeling I used to get watching wrestling. As for Ion winning Ultimate X, look I don't like his gimmick at all, he's too wreckless in the ring and already broke a guys neck. I belive, again it's my OPINION only, that Sonjay Dutt was to win the belt(since Kenny King hasn't signed with TNA...yet), but Sonjay was legit injured(he dislocated his shoulder mid match) went to the back popped it back in and finished the match. Kudos to Sonjay for stepping up, and hopefully he comes back to TNA full time. As a side, I'm really hoping TNA sign Yuma, Scorpio Sky, Flip Kendrick, and Kenny King. I'd through BLK Jeez in there too, but only with either Joker or Ruckus to rebuild an absent tag division(Daniels/Kaz being the only team left).
