another great job.........I do have a philosophical question.......i'm not sure of the answer ... Can somebody use a Thesz press before Lou Thesz was born.........I suppose its a question only we can have in LOW.......the only reason I thought of it is that well watching a Lou Thesz match, he pulled off the move and they called it a "forward press".........I was not surprised.....but when did it actually become a "THESZ PRESS" ....just food for thought......great work......keep them coming...

I would call it a vertical press pre thesz but that's just my opinion

LOL, I will actually step in on this (my second post!! woohoo!!!). I originally had it listed as a "Vertical Body Press" Then had changed it to a "forward press" (coincidentally, also because of hearing it called that in a Lou Thesz match). However, EVERY person I had proof/playtest the card asked what it was, and when I explained, to a person they basically said "Oh, so it's just a Thesz Press?" So, I gave up and just called it a Thesz Press.
But yes, for historical accuracy (if such thing exists in pro-wrestling, let alone LOW, lol) I would call it a forward press or vertical body press.
Also for the record, the actual newspaper clipping I first got the move from referred to Caddock "surprising his opponent with an upright press". For some reason I never liked that name, lol

....Actually it would be a vertical press because it is listed as a standing Thesz press......... Good stuff LOL

btw, I also wanted to point out that there are 2 or 3 moves on there (if anyone is dying to know which, I can dig through my old printed bootlegs to find out which) that were taken from an Earl Caddock card i found when doing my research. The card was done originally by Aaron Chiu, and was great for filling in the couple of holes I had when I was king of at a standstill and afraid I would need to grab a couple "era appropriate" moves to finish the card. And @ Inquisitor.. where were you when I was spinning circles to name that move??? lol

I have to make my vote known for "vertical press"; it's more appropriate for the era. The Thesz Press proper is done to a running opponent----and done by Thesz----although I can allow for it being called that when Stone Cold does it, too. Tommy Rich still has to call it a vertical press, though.

Wow! I remember working on this card but couldn't remember if I had ever shared it with anyone or not. Funny too, as Tim Dalton and I were just talking about Caddock when we met up at G-Con. Earliest recorded footage of a wrestling match featured him and Joe Stecher from 1920.
Thanks for reviving this card!
