I enjoy reading the 500 but don't find it grounds to argue over. It's a snapshot in time based on very subjective standards. it's best enjoyed for what it is, and not as some kind of absolute. And I wish Wyatt made the list, but at the end of the day no one is better or worse off based on a subjective ranking or omission.

with Bray Wyatt being on the list twice, i wonder if one is supposed to be Jeremy Wyatt?

The PWI facebook page cited a few of their errors.
Tajiri is #244 not Brad Wyatt listed twice.
Cody Deaner is #204 omitted.
Tanahashi was mistakenly not included in the list, he would have been top 15 so they say.

As if you needed any more proof of the ridiculous randomness of the PWI 500, they admit CODY DEANER would have been their intended choice for #204. The only thing this guy has done is play ODB's bitch in TNA THREE years ago, but they intended to put him 40 spots ahead of Tajiri.

And I wish Wyatt made the list, but at the end of the day no one is better or worse off based on a subjective ranking or omission. This is probably the best way to put it. I could put together a thesis on how Tim Donst deserves to be in the top 250, but it would be a huge waste of time and nobody other than me and maybe Tim Donst, would care. Fact is the PWI 500 was born during an era when we had 3 legit "World Champions" from the WWF, NWA and AWA. Even later with WWF and WCW. There was always a huge debate about where the champions placed. The IC title was so important and respected back then, that champion almost always was found in the top 3-5. We had World Class Wrestling with the Von Erich's. There was always the debate about who should have been ranked higher, Kevin or Kerry. It was awesome. Now we basically have WWE and everyone else. It's not the same. Bobby Roode over John Cena? I mean, c'mon now. You could honestly stop reading right there. This list is 99% bull crap. I doubt they even try very hard putting it together and probably haven't in years.

That comment is 100% true. The 500 hasn't meant much of anything since Vince McMahon told Ted Turner he was in the entertainment business when Ted bought WCW. Even in its hayday, I remember at times thinking how some guys could be ranked ahead of others or "hey, that guy is ranked twice under two different names." The only that matters now is the top ten or maybe 25 and #500.

Easy wcw Nitro. At the end of the day the list is opinion. It doesn't impact wrestling. It's like football power rankings. Just enjoy it for what it is.

I simply mean that it means more to the wrestlers who are ranked than to the fans. I used to put a lot of stock into the list. Now I feel it should be followed by the disclaimer: For entertainment purposes only.

I'm surprised the wrestling magazines are still around

Mike Quackenbush's comments on the PWI 500 via his twitter feed:
" Let me spare you some serious work - the PWI 500 has been utterly irrelevant for years now. As much lasting meaning as a VHS."
