Out of respect, I don't want to clog up this thread, but I wanted to add that in honor of the up-coming Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter, I'm really hoping we get the Honest One vs Coven Black or Count Necros or vs both while teaming with Helsin. Something cool like that. Keep up the great work.

"My dream is of a place and a time where America will once again be seen as the last best hope of earth."
-Abraham LincolnHonest Effort: The Trials of LincolnCreativeIt must have been love, but its over now! Abraham Lincoln closes the circle on his bloody war with the Bobby Heenan Family, in the very last match of his tour of LEGENDSonline Series 1, as he takes on the one and only Harley Race in a Lumberjack Match!LEGENDSonline Series 1 Tour: Match 14
Abraham Lincoln vs Harley Race 'Lumberjack Match'Play by PlayBefore the two competitors enter the ring, their respective lumberjacks are announced one by one as the ring slowly fills. Representing Abraham Lincoln will be S.D. Jones, Magnum T.A. and The Road Warriors. Harley Race's trusted cohorts are Jimmy Snuka, King Kong Bundy, Bobby Heenan and Nikolai Volkoff. Before the match starts, tension fills the air. Heenan and his charges taunt The Honest One, Abe's army does likewise to Heenan and his henchmen. The ref restores order by firmly commanding the lumberjacks to take position outside. The eight men spread throughout the four corners of the ring, the bell rings, and we are underway! After a feeling out process, Abe takes control early with a front facelock. Harley deftly counters a flying mare with a wicked swinging neckbreaker, putting Abe down hard. From the outside Bundy grabs Lincoln by the ankle and pulls him to the outside. Heenan jumps on the apron, distracting the ref, as Snuka and Volkoff hold Abe in place against the steel post, allowing Bundy to connect with a sickening AVALANCHE against the steel post. A near motionless Abe is tossed back inside the ring, as Race goes for the cover, 1,2,LINCOLN KICKSOUT! Race methodically drags Abe to the center of the ring and signals, falling back into a series of Indian Deathlocks...Abe nearly passes out...but is SAVED BY S.D. JONES! Harley continues his assault with a series of vicious forearm slugs, busting Abe open hardway. A whip into the ropes sees Race connect with a flawlessly executed running knee to the head. Harley tosses Abe out to his lumberjack's side of the ring, where Snuka and Bundy lay into the Honest One, while Heenan puts the bad mouth on him. Yet while the ref is distracted by the chaos outside the ring, Magnum T.A. sneaks up from behind and drills Race with a BELLY TO BELLY SUPLEX, Harley is down as a weary Lincoln takes offense. As if on instinct alone, a bloody Abe hits the THROAT LIFT SLAM...SHOULDER UP AT 2! A dizzy somehow Lincoln locks in an arm bar hold down, but the cagey Race makes the ropes. A waistlock takedown is followed by a spectacular LINCOLNCANRANA! Bloody but unbowed, Lincoln connects with his second THROAT LIFT SLAM...1,2,FOOT ON THE ROPES. Harley in deep trouble! Now Abe returns the earlier favor, dragging Harley to the center of the ring, and then securing a hammerlock...Harley looks like he's about to tap...yet somehow Harley grinds it out and makes the ropes! Abe staggers to his feet and connects with a headlock throw, the momentum of which sends Harley over the top and into the arms of the Road Warriors, who spike piledriver Race on the concrete floor! Back inside, Lincoln again throws Race to the outside, this time into the arms of S.D. Jones, who connects with a HEAD BUTT, before rolling Harley back in. Now an exhausted Race is bleeding hardway. Abe signals...a third THROAT LIFT SLAM...1,2,3! LINCOLN SCORES THE DUKE!
After the match, a wild brawl breaks out among the lumberjacks. In the midst of the pandemonium, Abraham Lincoln corners his arch-nemesis Bobby Heenan. The Brain tries to plead and beg off, but The Honest One will hear none of it. After sending Heenan head first into the steel post, he hammers The Weasel through the announce table with a THROAT LIFT SLAM...a departing gift from the beloved ex-President! Booking The Honest OneWow, talk about dramatic shifts in momentum! Harley started off very strong, benefiting from a chart outcome that saw a lumberjack hit his finisher on Lincoln. Mere rolls into the match, Abe was in the red zone with a pin rating of 8! Somehow, between his own intestinal fortitude and the outside interference variables, he weathered the storm. In time, Abe would go on to benefit twice from the same chart mechanic that nearly did him in, and after he hit his third finisher, the great Harley Race was done! The Lumberjack Chart was a lot of fun to use. Not only does it allow for spoiler outcomes, but its a convenient device to bridge into new rivalries and connecting storylines. What we do in life, echoes in eternity. Huge win for The Honest One, who leaves the LEGENDSonline Series 1 territory with the biggest (and most satisfying) victory of his career!Lumberjack Match: The ChartThis is a 2d6 two tier chart with nine possible outcomes. No disqualifications or count outs, distractor ratings are not a factor, and outside interference can be attempted twice per match by both participants. Chart use is triggered in substitute of the out of the ring (with the opponent rolling on the enemy side tier) and (lv) scenarios (with a 1d6 roll determining which tier is used). Match can only be won by pin or submission.
This specialty match is fairly standard in pro wrestling. For the purpose of this chart, each wrestler selects four allies to stand as lumberjacks, and man an area of ringside. The concept adds a bit of discretionary color to normal game play, including the ability to designate which specific 'lumberjacks' have an influence on the action. The use of two different chart tiers adds to the unpredictability factor, and two 'free' pin saves creates an interesting spoiler element. For those interested, Filsinger Games offers two slightly different versions of this concept. If you are an LOW exclusive player, neither of the options contain any sci-fi elements. The GWF Ringside Companion contains the Hydra Lumberjack Match Chart, which is more weighted toward a no contest finish. The Legends of Wrestling Ringside Companion contains a Lumberjack Match Chart, which is more weighted toward the lumberjacks making an impact on the action. Harley Race: The ManThe role of Harley Race was played by Harley Leland Race. Legend had it that as a child he overcame a bout with polio, eventually going on to train as a teen under the guide of famous locals Stanislaus & Wladek Zbyszko. After being expelled from school due to a confrontation, Harley joined the nearby carnival circuit. He began to work odds and ends for local promoter Gust Karras, debuting in the ring by age 18 under the name Jack Long. A car accident took the life of his pregnant wife and nearly led to his leg being amputated, but Harley survived and rehabilitated his way back to health. He reemerged back on the scene in '64, beginning a run under his given name, Harley Race. Harley would work countless territories, finding success in both singles and tag competition. By '73 he was selected to transition the NWA World Title from Champion Dory Funk Jr. to future Champion Jack Brisco. Solidifying his place in the industry, Harley would once again be positioned as NWA World Champion in '77, beginning an on and off reign that would run into the better half of '83. In the later stages of his career, Harley would go on to a multi-year run in the WWF, work as an on air manager in WCW and train prospective talent at his Wrestling Academy. A respected figure throughout the world, he was inducted into the WWE HOF in 2004.
From a fan perspective, my first exposure to Harley came through the Apter mags. Often a champion or top contender, the printed page gave the impression that he was a few cuts above the rest. When I finally did get to see him on WWF television as 'The King' Harley Race, he had reached age 43 and had great deal of wear and tear on his body. It wasn't until I became older and gained access to his earlier work that I came to fully appreciate how great of a talent he was. During his career, Harley made over 70 tours of Japan, and much of his AJPW work from the 70s into early 80s has been preserved in great condition. Surprisingly, a smattering of his territorial work in a variety off places also seems to have survived in bits and pieces. The evidence shows he was a master ring general, who employed some of the highest end offense of the era. Not only did Harley have a large repertoire of moves, but he perfected the art of timing and weaving everything altogether. From great give and take battles with top technicians around the globe, to turning back popular local upstarts that needed a helping hand, to every scenario in between, Harley could work any type of match, with talent of various skill levels, and find a way to make it come off polished and professional. Among the linked viewings I would most recommend would be matches with Jumbo Tsuruta (6/11/77, match of the decade candidate), Ric Flair (2/28/82, a much better example of how they gelled than their Starrcade 83 cage match) and Kevin Von Erich (7/2/83, as NWA World Champion turning back a popular local babyface). An all time great to be sure, he was one of a kind!Harley Race vs Dory Funk, Jr. 5/24/73Harley Race vs Dick Murdoch 4/22/75Harley Race vs Terry Funk 2/6/77Harley Race vs Jumbo Tsuruta. 6/11/77Harley Race vs Giant Baba 10/31/79Harley Race vs Giant Baba 11/7/79Harley Race vs Mil Mascaras 9/11/80Harley Race vs. Ric Flair 2/28/82Harley Race vs Ricky Steamboat 12/7/82Harley Race vs Kevin Von Erich 7/2/83Harley Race WWE HOF InductionHarley Race: The Card Height: 6'1 Weight: 268 lbs. Kansas City, MO At a Rahl Rating of 36 (39) this multiple time NWA World Champion has all the makings of a main event card. His death by a thousand cuts offense is anchored by a rock solid L20 (with three move - 3 designations) and a powerful +3 static potency finisher, netting 13 total points. The thunder continues to roll with a lockdown defense, featuring five total counters, only one 'down - 3' designation and an elite PIN 5 (2). Attributes net 8 more points, while a slight touch of tag proficiency is thrown in as well. As in real life, an elite man is the architect of his own fortune, and when stats mix with the dice, Harley Race should be a force to be reckoned with!Going ForwardLand of the free, home of the brave, Abraham Lincoln bids a fond farewell to the amazing talent found with-in the confines of LEGENDSonline Series 1. Join us next time on the Trials of Lincoln for a special retrospective show, looking back on the highlights (and low lights) of the Great Emancipator's time in the territory. Plus a special look at Goth Subculture in Filsinger Games, and a preview of what comes next in the Honest One's career!

Great victory by Lincoln. Also loved the analysis of Race, who I think is one of the greats of all time. His book was quite the interesting read as well.

Throughout this tour, Abe has seen his share of peaks and valleys. The soft spoken Lincoln went in a heavy underdog against Harley, yet somehow pulled a rabbit out of a hat. Least said, soonest mended!
