I saw on the net that Jerry's ex, Stacy "The Kat" Carter had tweeted on her Twitter site that Jerry had a stint and a balloon put in and was still heavily medicated. Wonder if Jim Ross will fill in on commentary until Jerry can come back?

After what has happened to Owen Hart, Ricky Steamboat, and other similar real-life incidents in "worked situations", you really think McMahon would stoop low enough to "work" a heart attack? Hell, why not just kill 'em off? Afterall, McMahon did "work" his own death (exploding limo) at least once. Man, I don't think so … he's not that sick in the head. Sent via Proboards Mobile App

Of course Vince was telling him what to say, he was the one who knew what was going on. I don't think any of the lines Cole said about being emotional and hoping for Lawler's recovery were fed to him, but would not be surprised at all if the information and how to present that was. It is BECAUSE of things like Owen Hart, Eddie Guerrero and Chris Benoit that they have to walk a fine line in reporting these kinds of incidents. Honestly when they came back from commercial after the initial noting of the situation and Cole didn't talk I was starting to feel the worst was going to come myself. I am glad to hear that he is recovering and wish him a speedy recovery. May he draw strength from whatever source he finds suits him.

To be fair to Phoenix, we've heard for years that Vince McMahon can terrorize announcers from the gorilla position so Vince feeding lines was nothing new.
I read his post as Phoenix suggesting that last night McMahon was able to keep his composure and help Cole through the night as Cole was obviously distraught. Arda Ocal's phone photo of Cole slumped over obviously shows that.
If anything I admire Vince and Cole for being able to work together to finish the night. Somebody is going to make the argument that they should have canceled the show, but I'm sure Lawler himself will defend WWE and Cole for being able to carry on without him.

As read the posts following mine at 3:46pm, I will back-off the harshness of my comments and redirect. The possibility of McMahon or anyone keeping Cole updated is very plausible.
I do hope that those who don't follow this genre of sports/enteraiment don't jump to the conclusion that this is all a work.

I've long been impressed with Michael Cole's work in WWE. Last night viewers got to see the same grace under extreme pressure that Sean Coulthard exhibited years ago covering the seize in Waco and the horrific civil war in Yugoslavia. It's a credit to WWE to have him on staff for the past 15 years, doing everything from color to straight man to heat magnet to ad man and even occasional bump taker. If you can perform up to Vince's exacting standards for that long of a tenure, you're golden!
