The infographic below takes a look at voting activity in the United States. While I agree that increasing participation is an admirable goal, I wonder how many Americans who are currently voting could pass a basic civics and general economics test? Courtesy of TakePart.com Infographic: Who Actually Votes In America?"With the presidential election only a few months away, presidential candidates Barak Obama and Mitt Romney are in that final stretch of trying to get the public’s votes.
It’s true that voting in America is on the lower end when compared to other countries, so my question is who actually votes in America? Who should the presidential candidates be reaching out to? Today’s infographic lists what kind of people actually get out to the ballots and vote. Turns out the very people you would expect to vote are the ones that do. I’m talking about people who are middle aged, educated and married.
America needs to devise new ways to reach out to those who do not vote. Whether it be through pledge cards, or bringing the voting to the home. Americans need to do a better job at practicing their right to vote."

I wouldn't be surprised if we saw record low turnout this time around given that the main complain I hear from people who lean Republican in the midwest is that East Coast liberals are out of touch with what America is about with their Ivy league educations and living the more affluent city life -- which is exactly what Mitt Romney also embodies.
It's saying something when the polls show that 2 in 3 Americans find little to nothing in common with Obama, and 3 in 4 Americans responded the same about Romney. I'd assume that education levels probably has a lot to do with that number.
