Philadelphia, PA - House Show broadcast on local TV
Bout #1:
David Sammartino vs. Johnny Rodz
- A good opener, as David came out like a house of fire and kept pouring on the offense. Rodz answered back with a few shots, but David used his hard Powerslam to down Rodz. David has been working very hard to break out of his father's huge shadow and is looking to get a title shot down the road.
Bout #2:
Moondogs vs. The British Bulldogs
- These two teams have been battling on TV from the start of the year and the bad blood has been boiling up. Dynamite and Rex start the bout out, as Rex tried to overpower the smaller Dynamite Kid. Dynamite's speed quickly turns the bout to his favor and he tags in Davey Boy quickly. They nail a big double dropkick, which sends Rex bouncing out of the ring. Spot comes in and nails Dynamite with the bone from behind. The ref tried to get Spot and Dynamite out the ring, which gave Davey Boy an opportunity to go to the floor and start battling with Rex. Davey Boy goes to slam Rex on the floor, as Spot comes through and nails him with the bone. Dynamite, behind the ref's back gets to the top turnbuckle and dives out on Spot. The ref had no choice to throw the match out and DQ both teams.
Bout #3:
Tonga Kid vs. Ken Patera
- Tonga Kid tried to hit some fast early offense, but Patera countered with an overhand right and then a shoulder ram into the corner. A beautiful suplex set up the Swinging Full Nelson for the quick win. Patera has to be forced by the ref to break the hold, but eventually does, but not until Tonga Kid had passed out. The crowd was furious at Patera for his actions, even if he thinks nothing of it.
Bout #4: WWF World Tag Team Title Match
US Express vs. Adrian Adonis & Dick Murdoch (c)
- Adonis and Murdoch started by nailing Rotunda before the bell and isolating him in their half of the ring. Murdoch used hard punches and boots to slow down Rotunda and Adonis did the same when he tagged in. Adonis went for a bulldog, but was shoved off by Rotunda. Mike made the hot tag to Windham and Windham opened up with some great offense on Adonis, as the fans started getting really behind the US Express. Barry tagged in Mike, who delivered a beautiful standing dropkick, followed by a jumping leg drop. Barry came back in and used a huge flying forearm. Barry used his Bulldog to drive Adonis' head down hard into the mat and went for the pin. 1.....2......Murdoch is in to break it up. The ref got in Murdoch's face about coming in, which was went Murdoch slugged the ref in the stomach. Rotunda threw a great dropkick to Murdoch, knocking him out of the ring. Barry and Mike nail a double dropkick on Adonis, while the ref is getting up. Mike locks on an abdominal stretch and Adonis starts screaming from the pain. The ref calls for the bell and the crowd explodes! The US Express celebrate, as they have just won the bout. The ref takes the belts, as Howard Finkel announces that the referee has award the bout to the US Express by DQ.....so Adonis and Murdoch retain the gold! {crowd boos!}
Bout #5:
Don Muraco vs. SD Jones
- Jones is a big man, but everyone needs their knees to stand. Don used hard kicks to the legs and knees to slow down the big man. Don used a rolling neck snap to keep Jones down. Muraco used the Hawaiian Hammer to finish off the big hometown hero. Muraco got serious heat here in Philadelphia as he beat down SD Jones.
Bout #6: WWF Intercontinental Title Match
Tito Santana vs. Greg Valentine (c)
- Tito is looking to get his gold back and tonight presented a great opportunity for him to achieve his goal. Tito used some quick armdrags and dropkicks to gain an early attempted pinfall on Valentine, but could not keep Greg down. As it has been said in the past, the longer the bout goes, the better Valentine gets. This was true here as well tonight. Tito went to lock on a Figure 4 leglock, but the master of the Figure 4, Valentine was able to block it and score a near fall out of an inside cradle from that attempt. Greg used some of his pattened chops and a neckbreaker to set Tito up for the Figure 4. He got it on, but Tito got the ropes. Greg released the hold and chopped the legs out of Tito. Greg locked it on again in the middle of the ring, but Tito fought hard to reverse it. Tito was insane pain, but was trying to turn it over. Tito almost had it, but Greg cranked down hard and Tito had to give up.
Bout #7:
The Spoiler vs. Blackjack Mulligan
- This match started before the bell as both men started brawling on the floor. Spoiler nailed Mulligan with a steel chair, but caught mostly Blackjack's arm. Spoiler went low and while Mulligan was doubled over, he nailed a jumping chair shot from the apron. The ref is trying to get them in the ring to start the bout, but both men are fighting to hard to hear his instruction. The ref rings the bell and starts counting. Spoiler and Blackjack both roll in and the brawl continued. Spoiler kneed Mulligan hard to the stomach and then used a rope walk elbow smash. Spoiler tried to use his Double Underhook suplex to score the pin, but only got a 2. Mulligan battled back and nailed Spoiler with a big boot to the gut. Mulligan slapped on a choke lift to deliver a modified choke slam. Mulligan slapped on his Blackjack Claw, but Spoiler was not moving and the ref counted Spoiler's shoulders down.
Main Event
Bout #8: Special Tag Team Attraction
Andre the Giant & Hulk Hogan vs. Big John Studd & King Kong Bundy (w/ Bobby Heenan)
- Bundy and Studd try to attack Hulk and Andre, but they thwarted that attempt. Hogan ripped the shirt off and the fans exploded. Hogan started against Studd and both men felt each other out with some collar-and-elbow tie-ups and power moves. Studd drove a hard knee to Hogan's mid-section, which allowed Studd and Bundy an opportunity to cut Hogan off from his partner. Good tags by Heenan's men and a solid use of their impressive size had Hogan hurt in their corner. Bundy Avalanched Hogan in the corner and Hulk went down hard. 1.....2......NO! Hulk kicked out. Bundy started pounding Hulk, as he started firing himself up. A fast tag to Studd, but the same result. Hogan was "Hulking Up" and nothing could hurt him. Hogan landed a few big punches and Studd staggered into the wrong corner, where Andre grabs him and nails a giant headbutt. Studd stumbles into the big boot from Hogan and then the Big Leg Drop for the 1.....2.......3! (HUGE POP!) Hogan and Andre have won the main event here tonight, but nothing has been settled and we know that their will be more clashes in the future. Hogan and Andre play to the fans after the bout is over, as cheers rain down on the two victors.
