Awesome Kong / Dewey / Gorilla / Meat / The Viking" Dwayne McCullough, Who was a professional wrestler for the USWA, Global, and WCW, where he was a member of the tag team "Colassal Kongs" with partner "King Kong" Scott Thompson and they were managed by Harley Race, passed away on November 17, 2012 at the age of 54

Yes, maybe a headline like "original Awesome Kong...." would be less shocking. Colossal Kongs were kind of a throwback to a different time in wrestling; a 60s or 70s attraction team in early 90s WCW. Unfortunately it didn't really work out for them.

I remember him/them quite well. In fact, when the female wrestler took that name I was like "Hey! That name has already been used!" LOL.
