www.nypost.com/p/sports/college/football/he_the_manz_y9wkyNaT8F8NbCZIrOPRnKVery happy Manziel won. As a MI fan, I was offended by the revisionist history displayed by ESPN, painting Teo as "...the first exclusively defensive player..." in the Heisman race. As everyone knows, in 1997 Charles Woodson already did this. Indisputably, he was the first and is still the only primarily defensive player to win the prestigious award. As if ANYONE voted Woodson for Heisman based on his whopping 12 receptions and 2 TD's that season. Talk about bending the truth in an effort to drum up interest in this kid. Just awful, and I feel bad for Teo that he was subjected to such biased journalism. More and more, we bury the past (or ignore it) in an effort to make whatever is new and shiny the "greatest thing ever!". I don't buy into that shit. I prefer to respect and acknowledge history. Congrats to Johnny Football and here's hoping maybe my Lions draft Teo. We could use a guy like that in our locker room.
