Wow.....I would figure he'd be too small for WWE's tastes.

I am sorry to see El Generico leave PWG (the fact is nobody wrestled more matches for PWG then El Generico) but I am really glad for him that he is getting this great opportunity.
Speaking of El Generico and PWG ,it was announced earlier today by PWG that despite his shoulder injury El Generico is insisting on at being at DDT4 this weekend where he will indeed be teaming up in the tournament with Kevin Steen after all!
I am wearing my El Generico shirt to PWG this weekend!

Glad to see El Generico get his shot at the big time. At the same time the wwe will waste his talent like they do with so many other talented wrestlers. If your name isnt Cena or Punk you get lost in the shuffle. He would be a perfect fit for TNA and the X Division.

This could be good for El Generico as his gimmick (if they continue to use it) could fit perfectly with the current PG rating they are going for.

This is no secret to anybody anymore but this video pretty much gives us an answer from the guy himself. I took it at tonight's BattleWar event in Montréal where he was wrestling what could possibly be his last indy wrestling match against Chuck Taylor. This was a very emotional night and one of the best wrestling show I've ever been to. All in all I'm very happy for him and cannot wait to see what the future will bring for the Generic Luchador ! By the way I was also able to get my first 3 signatures ! From the whole 3.0lé crew !

Cool video and picture djpsyko. I'll miss him on the Indies, but glad he is getting a break in WWE.

I see nothing but character mishandling from the WWE brass... Just MHO I get the skepticism, but let's not forget that he'll be making more money now than he ever could have on the indies. And also not overlook that this is the biggest opportunity of his entire career and that there is NOBODY on the planet (I defy anyone here to show me one) who deserves the opportunity more than Generico.

Agreed. I have been thinking about El Generico going to WWE and here are some of what I consider to be the pros and cons: PROS: El Generico is not as small as some people seem to think he is. Just because he plays a luchador does not automatically make him 5'4 160 lbs. He is actually quite comparable to a Dolph Ziggler, Kofi Kingston, or Chris Jericho in terms of the billed size of all involved, which is not to say that he is a huge guy, but it's not like he is the size of the Young Bucks or anything. If you have never seen El Generico perform live, you cannot fully appreciate the extent of his work on the indies. The guy barely speaks, yet his body exudes charisma with every action he takes. Whether it's slapping every high five from the fans, or the broad gesturing in his fist raise to "Ole!" the guy just gets the entire crowd to eat out of the palm of his hand. He has a natural ability to connect with the crowd, and everybody in the venue just wants to cheer for the guy each of the three times I have seen him live. The guy also has a sense of humor. When I got him to sign my Chikara card, he tried to quasi-keep kayfabe with his faux-Mexican gimmick, but ended up giving me an Asian bow, and a "thank you for comeeng!" in an accent that sounded more Asian fobby than Mexican. I told Gavin Loudspeaker about this experience at the last GalactiCon how I got a laugh out of this (being Asian myself), and Gavin also confirmed that this was El Generico's usual clowning around. If this can translate on to the WWE scene, he could make himself a lot of money. CONS El Generico can't possibly keep his gimmick. I'm sure he'll be unmasked, as I doubt WWE would understand the point of his gimmick and even if someone did explain it to Vince, WWE couldn't take their chances with the TMZ/ESPN/Huffington Post crowd, who would probably be too lazy to research the "everybody's in on the joke" aspect of the gimmick and just portray the "white guy playing Mexican stereotypes" story. Obviously this raises two questions of whether El Generico can thrive beyond a one-dimensional character, and whether El Generico can actually cut a promo. With his sense of humor described above, I think he does have the capability of reinventing himself, but time will tell. As for El Generico's in-ring work, the question I wonder is whether El Generico can adapt from indie style to TV style. Just as I will argue that you cannot fully appreciate El Generico's indie work unless you have seen him live, you can also ask the question of whether he can adapt to the television cameras. Indie workers for the most part consider their target audience to be the guy sitting in the back row of the venue that they are performing. This often leads to very exaggerated movements that WWE trainers frown upon, because WWE programming is targeted toward a television audience where exaggerated movements look goofy, and you have to connect with the audience in other ways. I don't know whether El Generico's in-ring style adapts well on television. I hope it does, especially since I don't really notice anything negative in El Generico's work in DVDs, but I wouldn't be surprised if NXT trainers felt a need to "train" the bad habits out of him. I'm sure M T and Switch-Truth will have feedback to the thoughts above. I look forward to it.
