Thanks to Rob, Crue Fan, Booker Bill, and Victory Roll for the comments!November 13, 2017 Card #525: Soldiers & Sailors Memorial Coliseum in Evansville1) “The Unpredictable” Johnny Rodz gave Nacho Barrera his first loss in the opener in a competitive 20-minute match. Rodz hit an Unpredictable Slam and used roundhouse right hands for a near fall. Barrera had a lot of offense but just couldn’t keep the New Yorker down. Rodz wore down Barrera and hit a clothesline to score the pinfall. The fans favored “The Unpredictable One” in this bout! ** 2) S.D. Jones pulled off a huge upset with a pinfall win on Baron Von Raschke! “Special Delivery” ran wild on the German grappler right at the start. He hit a power body slam a few minutes into the match for a near fall. “The Clawmaster” took control and surprised Jones with a back suplex for a two-count. It looked as if Von Raschke was going to pull off the win, as he hammered “Philadelphia’s Favorite Son” in the corner. Jones fought free and nailed Von Raschke with some stiff punches. He then executed a suplex on Von Raschke and made a cover to score the pin after 14 minutes. The Evansville fans went wild and S.D. was joined by tag team partner S.T. Jones to celebrate while “Living in America” played and Von Raschke had a look of shock on his face! **¾ 3) Billy Gunn pinned “Pretty Boy” Larry Sharpe in about eight minutes. While the New Jerseyan had some offense against Gunn, Gunn was very impressive in this one, coming off pinning Southern Heavyweight champion “Exotic” Adrian Street in last week’s Elimination Match. Gunn lifted Sharpe up impressively and executed a jackhammer to score the pinfall! ¾* 4) The Patriot picked up a big win over Bobby Shane in an amazing match. Shane, of course, was accompanied by manager Jimmy Hart, while the Patriot was joined by the new World Heavyweight champion “Hot Stuff” Eddie Gilbert. Gilbert lost to Shane in September in Amory, due to help from Hart, and was there to counteract “The Mouth of The South,” if needed. Shane started off the bout aggressively against the masked American, hitting a bulldog in the first minute of the match for a near fall. The Patriot rallied back and put a beating on Shane, hitting the Patriot Missile, the Uncle Slam, and a clothesline which busted open the First Family of Wrestling member, in about a three-minute span. Shane managed to kick out of each pin attempt. The Patriot went up top for a second Missile but Shane dodged the attack and the Patriot crashed to the mat. Shane seized the opportunity and immediately went for the Japanese sleeper. The Patriot managed to get to the ropes for a break. Shane took the fight to the floor and rammed the Patriot’s head into the ring post. Patriot was almost counted out but with Gilbert’s help and the fans’ support managed to roll back in by the count of nine. While the masked man was out of the ring, Shane had gone to his corner and received an object from Hart, which he slipped into his kneepad. As the Patriot entered the ring, Shane smashed him with the loaded kneepad and now the Patriot had blood coming out of his mask. Shane tried for a second sleeper. Patriot started to drop to the mat. Paul Morton checked his arm. It dropped twice but on the third check, it bounced back up and the masked man fought to his feet and elbowed his way out of the submission. The Patriot took control a few minutes later and the blood was pouring out of Shane’s head by now. He had Shane in trouble and went up top again, presumably for another Patriot Missile. Hart got up on the apron but so did Gilbert. Morton saw Gilbert first and went to warn the World champion. Patriot went after Hart but Shane recovered and grabbed Patriot’s arms from behind. Hart went to hit Patriot with the megaphone but the powerhouse broke free and Shane felt the impact of the megaphone! Gilbert ran around to the other side of the ring and pulled “The Mouth of The South” off the ring apron. Patriot grabbed Shane and hit the Uncle Slam to score the pinfall after 24 minutes of great action! ****¾ 5) Southern Heavyweight champion “Exotic” Adrian Street defeated Colt “Boom Boom” Cabana in a non-title bout. Cabana had the early advantage and looked as if he might pull off the upset but Mr. Hughes tripped Cabana when Street reversed a whip into the ropes. Street hit an elbow drop for a near fall. Cabana got to his feet but Street took him back down with the crucifix to score the pin after five minutes. Street, Jim Cornette, and Hughes retreated before the host of The Art of Wrestling could retaliate! * 6) The Flying Redheads pulled off a huge win via countout over Ivan Koloff and Mr. Saito. Red Bastien and Billy Red Lyons trapped “The Russian Bear” in the ring for the first few minutes of the bout. Lyons took Koloff down with a crossbody block for a two-count. Lyons tried for the sleeper but Koloff quickly made the ropes. Saito finally tagged in but the Redheads worked over him as well. Lyons applied the figure-four leglock on the Japanese Olympian but Saito pulled himself to the ropes for a break. Lyons tagged Bastien, who came off the ropes with an elbow smash, while Lyons held Saito, busting him open. Bastien followed up shortly thereafter with the airplane spin into the atomic drop but Saito managed to kick out. Saito got Bastien in the House of Humperdink’s corner and Koloff smashed Bastien with his chain, while Saito shielded Scott Bowden from seeing this. Koloff tagged in but a hurting Bastien managed to roll away and tag to Lyons. Lyons came in strong against the former USWA World champion but Koloff reversed a whip into the ropes and surprised Lyons on the rebound with the Russian Sickle. He covered Lyons but Lyons had landed near the ropes and managed to get a foot on the bottom rope for a break. Saito came back in a few moments later and was the legal man against Bastien. He sent Bastien into the corner but Bastien leapt to the second turnbuckle, then turned around and flattened Saito with a flying body press! He covered Saito but only got a two-count. Lyons tagged back in and nailed Saito, blinded by the blood in his eyes, from behind with a dropkick, sending him over the top rope and to the arena floor. Despite help from Koloff and Sir Oliver Humperdink, Koloff could not beat Bowden’s count, so the Redheads got the win after 24 minutes! ****¼ 7) It looked as if Harley Race’s undefeated streak was going to end tonight but he pulled off a controversial disqualification victory over Tommy Gilbert, thanks to Jimmy Hart. The World Heavyweight champion “Hot Stuff” Eddie Gilbert accompanied his father to ringside. Race motioned to Eddie that he wants a shot at the World title. Race started off strongly against Tommy. He used his three biggest tools in his vast arsenal: the piledriver, the vertical suplex, and the diving head butt—twice in a row. The second head butt busted Tommy open but he managed to kick out each time. Race tossed Tommy out of the ring and “The Mouth of The South” attempted to attack him but Eddie ran off the manager. Race came out to threaten Eddie. Eddie didn’t strike so that his father didn’t get disqualified but he didn’t need to strike, as Tommy recovered and attacked Race with fists from behind. He tossed Race back into the ring and took control. He nailed Race with two separate running knee lifts but couldn’t keep him down for the count. He blasted Race with some stiff punches, now busting him open as well. He nailed Race with a standing dropkick and went for a pin but Race kicked out. He nailed Race a few moments later with another running knee lift but Race got a foot on the ropes on the pin attempt. Eddie and the Evansville fans were going wild at Tommy’s toughness and seeing Race in trouble of losing! Tommy hit Race with another dropkick and then came off the second rope with a knee drop. Hart jumped up on the apron to distract Paul Morton and in doing so, tossed in the megaphone behind his back. Eddie ran over and pulled Hart off the apron and then delivered a big right hand! Race recovered enough to pick up the megaphone but Tommy saw him coming and the two had a tug-o-war over it. Tommy ended up with the megaphone and then somewhat instinctively clocked Race over the head with it. Unfortunately for Tommy, Morton turned around to see this. He called for the bell and disqualified Tommy after 14 minutes of intense, bloody action. The Evansville fans were not happy about this! A battered Race rolled out of the ring after getting his hand raised and grabbed Hart. The two retreated to the locker room before the Gilberts could get them! After tonight’s tainted win, Race is now 21-0 overall! **** 8) John and Chris Tolos scored a huge win over “The Boogie Woogie Man” “Handsome” Jimmy Valiant and “Superstar” Bill Dundee. This bout was back-and-forth. John went for his solo flying knee drop on the former World Heavyweight champion but Valiant rolled out of the way and John crashed hard. Valiant tried for a pin attempt but John kicked out. Dundee tagged back into the bout and took over on John. The battle went in-and-out out of the ring. The action got so wild that Valiant and Chris as the legal men were brawling in the ring as well. With John and Dundee in one corner, out of nowhere came “Classy” Freddie Blassie from the locker room in a surprise appearance, since he was not booked to wrestled on the card. John placed the “Superstar” up against the ropes, while Blassie struck him from outside the ring with a steel chair in the back. Valiant knocked down Chris with right hands and had seen Blassie’s attack. He left the ring to go after Blassie, chasing him up the aisle. Back in the ring, John tagged to Chris and the Toloses hit their double team flying knee drop. Chris covered Dundee and scored the pin after 10 minutes. The Flying Redheads came out of the back to check on Dundee. Valiant returned to the ring as well. The Redheads will get their chance again against the Toloses when they team up with “Boogie Woogie” against the Canadian brothers and “The King of Men” next week in Gore Springs! ** 9) Pepper Gomez made history by capturing his second USWA Mid-America Heavyweight championship from “Scrap Iron” Adam Pearce in a double-juice 22-minute match. Gomez was a man focused, pounding on Pearce for several minutes. He hit two Mexican Leaps and then the cradle for a near fall. Pearce capitalized on a mistake by Gomez and surprised him with a swinging neckbreaker for a near fall. He continued the focus on the neck, hitting a hangman’s neckbreaker for another two-count. Pearce knocked the challenger out of the ring. While Jim Cornette was giving the champ advice, they did not see Gomez crawl under the ring. As they looked around for “The Man with The Cast Iron Stomach,” he emerged from the other side, rolled back into the ring, and attacked “Scrap Iron” from behind. He sent him into the ropes and then bounced off the opposite ropes. The two crisscrossed a few times before Gomez stopped in the center and nailed Pearce in the head with a smash to the head, which busted him open. He went for a cover but Pearce kicked out. Gomez hit two consecutive Mexican Leaps. Pearce rolled out of the ring for a breather but Gomez followed. Cornette distracted Scott Bowden, while Mr. Hughes came around the ring and nailed Gomez from behind with a clothesline. Pearce took over and back inside the ring hit the jumping piledriver. He made a cover but Gomez got a foot on the bottom rope for a break. The champion missed a fist drop. Both men were slow to get up but when they did, Gomez sent Pearce into the ropes again and hit a second crisscross smash. As Bowden went to count, Cornette climbed into the ring right over Bowden and interrupting the count. Knowing the importance of a title match, Bowden didn’t disqualify Pearce but instead ejected Cornette from ringside! The Evansville fans went wild at Bowden’s decision! Hughes went to the back with his employer, who was outraged! The altercation allowed Pearce to take control. The champ was a bloody mess but was able to hit the jumping piledriver again. He covered Gomez but the Mexican superstar kicked out at 2¾! Pearce maintained control and hit a vertical suplex for another near fall. Pearce tried a second suplex but Gomez blocked and tossed him with a monkey flip! Gomez then executed the Mexican cradle again and scored the pinfall to win the Mid-America title! The fans went wild, as Gomez was joined in the ring by “The Boogie Woogie Man” “Handsome” Jimmy Valiant, the Flying Redheads, and “Superstar” Bill Dundee, who held up the new champion! ****½ 10) The main event was for the USWA World Tag Team titles. The current champions, The Heavenly Bodies, managed by Jim Cornette and backed up by Cornette’s bodyguard Mr. Hughes, put the titles on the line against Brad and Brian Armstrong. The feud between Cornette’s men and the Armstrongs goes back many years. In this latest version, the Armstrong Brothers last challenged Dr. Tom Prichard and Chris Candido for the belts back in May in Knoxville. The champions came out the winners that night via countout in a competitive match. The Armstrongs earned another shot with a non-title pinfall win on the champs a few weeks ago in Lexington and were also riding the wave of momentum coming off Brad surviving everyone else in the eight-man tag team Elimination Match last week also in Knoxville. The action was fast and furious in this bout. “The Doctor of Desire” and “The Road Dogg” slugged it out in the opening minutes. Prichard gained the upper hand and executed a slingshot suplex for a two-count. He also blasted Brian with the enzuigiri for a near fall. “The Suicide Blonde” tagged in and attacked Brian but he was able to tag his brother quickly. Candido cut Brad off and took him to the champions’ corner. Prichard tagged back in and the Bodies executed a Flapjack. Prichard tried for a pin but Brad kicked out. Prichard nailed Brad with a knee lift, which knocked him out of the ring. Prichard distracted Paul Morton inside the ring, while Cornette and Hughes went after Brad. Hughes hit a spike slam on Brad on the arena floor. Brian came over to confront the bodyguard but got body slammed on the floor! Morton turned around to see both Armstrongs on the floor and counted the legal man Brad out of the ring. The Bodies got the win and retained the titles after six minutes of action. Perhaps more memorable was the aftermath, as right after being declared the winners, Cornette, Hughes, and the Bodies continued the attack. They were joined by their stablemates Southern champ Adrian Street and “Scrap Iron” Adam Pearce. (Pearce was heavily bandaged from his match on the card.) They continued to attack the Armstrongs, now using chairs, for what seemed like an eternity. USWA officials came down to try to call off Cornette’s men but to no avail. Commissioner Bob Armstrong ran into the arena to save his sons. He got in Cornette's face but was decked with a right hand by Hughes! Then the entire crew attacked “Bullet” Bob! Hughes gave him a spike slam on the floor. The Bodies then hit a Flapjack on him on the floor, busting him open! The fans were irate by this point. After several minutes, World champion “Hot Stuff” Eddie Gilbert, Tommy Gilbert, Billy Gunn, Colt Cabana, Pepper Gomez, The Patriot, Jimmy Valiant, Bill Dundee, and the Flying Redheads came out from the back. Tommy was holding a pair of bolt cutters, possibly to use as a weapon. Cornette saw this army of fan favorites coming at them and called off his men. The fan favorites helped all three Armstrongs to the locker room. *

Thanks to Victory Roll and Troy for the comments!
After the melee in Evansville last week, USWA Championship Wrestling on November 18 was packed with news! • USWA Committee Chairman Jerry Jarrett gave an update on the Armstrong family after the heinous attack by Jim Cornette and his men last week in Evansville. Brad and Brian suffered some minor injures but Commissioner Bob Armstrong suffered the worse with major facial injuries due to the Flapjack on the floor by the Heavenly Bodies. Jarrett said that each of Cornette’s men was fined $25,000! With “Bullet” Bob out of action, for the time being, the USWA Committee will resume day-to-day decisions. He said that the Committee had considered suspending Cornette’s men and stripping the Bodies of the World Tag Team titles and “Exotic” Adrian Street of the Southern Heavyweight title but the Armstrongs actually convinced them not to, as they want them to get beaten in the ring for the belts! Jarrett narrated video footage from last week in the locker room area of the Soldiers & Sailors Memorial Coliseum where Street and Adam Pearce had placed a large chain and padlock around the door to the fan favorites’ locker room toward the end of the main event, knowing this attack was going to take place. World champion Eddie and Tommy Gilbert happened to be out of the locker room at the moment and after several minutes heard several of the wrestlers pounding on the door and yelling. Tommy grabbed a pair of bolt cutters to break the lock, which is why he then sprinted to the ring with them. • Cornette was interviewed later in the show and said that that amount of money was nothing to a group of stars such as he and his men. He said that he is considering contacting his mama’s high-priced lawyer Stephen P. New to sue the USWA for an official putting his hands on him! He said that he is tired of “Bullet” Bob’s “dictatorship” and that he has been in power for nearly five years. He said that the wrestling fans deserve a fair commissioner and he is calling for the resignation of Bob Armstrong! • It was announced already that the new Mid-America Heavyweight champion Pepper Gomez will defend the title against another popular wrestler—Brad Armstrong! This bout will take place on December 18 at the Louisville Gardens. Armstrong earned his title shot by last eliminating then-champion Adam Pearce in the huge eight-man tag team Elimination Match two weeks ago in Knoxville. While Brad challenged for the retired USWA Texas title in the past, this will be his first-ever shot at the Mid-America title! Gomez was interviewed in-studio and wished all the Armstrongs well in their recovery! • Another huge match signed for Louisville will see “American Dragon” Bryan Danielson battle Jim Cornette’s bodyguard Mr. Hughes! Hughes was part of the attack on Danielson back in September in this same arena after Adrian Street regained the Southern title from him. Hughes will make his in-ring debut in the USWA next week in Gore Springs. • Two more big matches were announced for the December 4 card at the Mid-South Coliseum in Memphis! o Two tag teams will battle for the first time, as The Tolos Brothers face The Uptown Boys! Both teams have had a lot of success in the USWA In 2017 and are looking to wrap up the year with some momentum! o Ray “The Crippler” Stevens will return to action from his concussion and battle his rival, the new Mid-America Heavyweight champion Pepper Gomez in a non-title bout!
The USWA makes its debut in Gore Springs, MS with a huge card on November 20 at the Gore Springs Gymnasium! • In a first-time meeting between two powerhouses, The Patriot will take on King Kong Bundy! The Patriot scored a hard-fought win over Bundy’s First Family of Wrestling teammate Bobby Shane last week in Evansville and hopes to have success again this week. Can he topple the New Jersey giant or will Bundy put him down for the five-count? • Billy Gunn will take on a long-time rival and one-half of the World Tag Team champions “The Doctor of Desire” Tom Prichard! Gunn and Brian Armstrong (then Jesse James) put Prichard out of action in 2012 with a neck injury from a spike piledriver. Gunn is looking ahead to a shot at the Southern Heavyweight title and would love to get some revenge for the heinous ambush on the Armstrongs. But you can bet Jim Cornette will have his man’s sights set on Gunn! • Two powerhouse tag teams will collide again when two-time former World Tag Team champions Steve “Dr. Death” Williams and Terry “Bamm Bamm” Gordy face Ivan Koloff and Mr. Saito of the House of Humperdink! “The Russian Bear” and the Japanese Olympian got the win the last time these teams met in September in Louisville and they would love to get another shot at the World Tag Team titles. But the former champs are going to come out fighting and would love another championship match as well. Which team will leave Gore Springs the victors? • Harley Race holds an impressive 21-0 overall record as of this moment. This week, he will face of his most unique opponents so far in Colt “Boom Boom” Cabana. While the host of The Art of Wrestling doesn’t have the record that Race does, he is a student of the game and has studied many styles. He can pull an upset if Race underestimates him. With Race’s sights focused on wanting a World title match, this could be the night for Cabana, especially after Tommy Gilbert nearly ended the winning streak last week in Evansville! Can the Chicago native pull off the huge upset or will Race go to 22-0? • “American Dragon” Bryan Danielson will return to action! He starts his quest of going through all of Jim Cornette’s men when he faces the other half of the World Tag Team champions Chris Candido! The battles between these two going back to 2010 and the Texas title have been well documented. Danielson is hoping to get a decisive win on “The Suicide Blonde.” Can he do so in the latest chapter of this epic feud? • In a huge six-man tag team battle, “Classy” Freddie Blassie and The Tolos Brothers will team up for the first time to face “The Boogie Woogie Man” “Handsome” Jimmy Valiant and The Flying Redheads! Blassie brought in the Toloses as a surprise back in August in Evansville, when they ambushed Valiant during his bout with Blassie. Last week in the same city, Blassie got involved in Valiant and Bill Dundee’s tag team match against his allies, leading to a win for John and Chris. The Redheads and the Toloses had a wild bout two weeks ago in Knoxville that saw John get disqualified for using a chair on Billy Red Lyons. There is a lot of bad blood among these six men! • The main event will feature “Exotic” Adrian Street defending the USWA Southern Heavyweight championship against “Superstar” Bill Dundee! Dundee is coming off a win over Doctor X in October in Tupelo, Baron Von Raschke two weeks later in Lexington, and a disqualification win over Mad Dog Vachon two weeks ago in Knoxville. This will be the Aussie’s second shot at the Southern title and his first in 18 months. Street has been an impressive champion as a grappler, despite his outrageous appearance and his glamorizing of the belt! He has been making waves recently with his attack on Bryan Danielson after regaining the gold and now being a part of the ambush on the Armstrongs. Can Street retain the Southern title or will the “Superstar” capture his first USWA championship?
All these bouts plus, Baron Von Raschke looks for a measure of revenge when he faces “Soul Train” Jones! As well as the in-ring debut of Mr. Hughes and more USWA stars in action at the first USWA card in Gore Springs!

The action in Evansville was just amazing, and a big congrats to Pepper Gomez on winning the Mid-America title from Adam Pearce.
Harley Race stays undefeated, albeit controversially, and sadly the "Nacho Man" suffers his first defeat against Johnny Rodz. I was really hoping for an undefeated Race-Barrera showdown. I also loved seeing S.D. Jones with the big upset win over Baron Von Raschke. You gotta love the upsets!

Thanks to Victory Roll and Crue Fan for the comments!
November 20, 2017 Card #526: Gore Springs (MS) Gymnasium
1) Jake “The Milkman” Milliman picked up a win in the opener with a pinfall on Nacho Barrera. Barrera tried to get back on track after suffering his first loss in the USWA to “The Unpredictable” Johnny Rodz last week in Evansville but Milliman had the Gore Springs fan on his side. He hit an impressive dropkick on Barrera, knocking him down, and then came off the second rope with the head butt to score the pinfall in about 2½ minutes. The fans gave “The Milkman” a big ovation! DUD
2) Baron Von Raschke picked up a small measure of revenge for his upset loss to “Special Delivery” Jones in Evansville last week with a quick pinfall on his partner “Soul Train” Jones. “The Clawmaster” stormed S.T. at the bell and hammered away on him. He scored the pinfall in about 90 seconds with a crushing atomic drop. He indicated to Jones after that he wants a rematch with S.D. and that “That is all the people need to know!” DUD
3) Jim Cornette’s bodyguard Mr. Hughes made an impactful in-ring debut with a pinfall win over Jim Powers. While Hughes removed his suitcoat and hat, he wore the rest of his gear in the ring, including his sunglasses! Powers knew he would have to come out fighting against the powerful and menacing Hughes. He started off with some good offense but got caught on a crossbody block. Hughes hit three impressive backbreakers in a row on Powers after catching him, never once releasing Powers. He went for a cover but pulled Powers up to inflict more punishment. Hughes could have probably won the match sooner but chose to beat on the New Yorker more. He showcased his athleticism by blasting Powers with a dropkick. Powers mounted a comeback and came off the top with a double sledge. Hughes saw the attack coming and blasted Powers in midair with a boot to the face! Hughes sent Powers into the corner but Powers reversed the whip and caught Hughes on the rebound with the power slam! He went for a cover but Cornette distracted Tom Branch. Powers went after “The Louisville Slugger” but Hughes recovered and did his job of protecting Cornette. He nailed Powers from behind with a clothesline and then delivered a power bomb to score the pinfall after 10 minutes. Cornette was very pleased with his bodyguard’s achievement as a wrestler! **¼
4) The Patriot defeated King Kong Bundy by disqualification after 14 minutes. Bundy had the initial advantage and looked as if he would get the win quickly by Patriot dodged out of the way of the Atlantic City Avalanche and Bundy hit the buckles hard. Patriot rolled him up for a pin attempt by Bundy kicked out. The masked American controlled much of the action, pummeling the New Jersey giant. He knocked down Bundy and hit an elbow drop off the top rope for a two-count. He went up top again and blasted Bundy with the Patriot Missile. The two knocked heads on the move and Bundy was busted open. He managed to roll out of the ring before the Patriot could make a pin attempt. With Jimmy Hart’s encouragement, Bundy rolled back into the ring so as not to be counted out. Patriot hit an amazing power slam on the 446-pounder but only got a two-count. A bloody and wounded Bundy stumbled to his feet and the Patriot set up for the Uncle Slam. Before he could hit, Hart jumped up on the apron and distracted Tommy Marlin. In doing so, he tossed in the megaphone. The Patriot went after “The Mouth of The South,” grabbing him by his colorful jacket! Bundy scooped up the megaphone and clocked Patriot from behind with it. Marlin saw Bundy’s attack and called for the bell. Bundy went to attack Patriot again but the Patriot dodged the attack and Bundy crashed into the corner and the megaphone bounced back into his face! The Patriot evaded Hart and Bundy before more damage could be done but signaled that he does want Bundy in the ring again! ***
5) World Tag Team champion Dr. Tom Prichard defeated Billy Gunn by countout. The two long-time rivals battled it out, exchanging the control, knowing each other so well. Prichard went for a clothesline but Gunn ducked, spun around, and caught Prichard with a power slam. He went for a cover but only got a two. Prichard took control in a brawl outside the ring, ramming Gunn backwards into the ring post. He tossed him back in and hit the enzuigiri for a near fall. Prichard tossed Gunn out of the ring again and distracted Sam Platania. Mr. Hughes grabbed Gunn off the arena floor and delivered a short-arm clothesline, causing the back of Gunn’s head to hit the floor. Platania turned around, as Hughes and Jim Cornette stepped away, and counted Gunn out of the ring, giving Prichard the win in six minutes. Prichard, Cornette, and Hughes looked ready to dish out more punishment but before they could, the returning Bryan Danielson, as well as Colt Cabana, came down to prevent them and to help Gunn to the back. **
6) Ivan Koloff and Mr. Saito got a submission win over Steve “Dr. Death” Williams and Terry “Bamm Bamm” Gordy in a physical, brutal 24-minute bout. The two-time former World Tag Team champions double teamed “The Russian Bear” early in the bout. Gordy hit both the Bamm Bamm slam and the power bomb for near falls on the former USWA World champion. A few minutes later, the House of Humperdink team took control on “Doc,” with Saito executing an Oriental leg sweep for a near fall. Williams rallied back and hit a belly-to-belly suplex on the Japanese Olympian for a two-count. Williams executed the Oklahoma Stampede and went for a cover but they landed near the ropes and Saito got a foot under the bottom rope for a break. Williams executed an impressive press slam on Saito but again only got a two-count. Later in the bout, Koloff blocked a slam attempt by Gordy and blasted him with the Russian Hammer to score a two-count. Saito tagged back and came off the middle rope with a knee drop to the head to score a near fall. He executed the leg sweep on “Bamm Bamm” as well for another two. Saito turned the attack to Gordy’s leg and went for the Scorpion Leglock. Gordy was in pain but managed to get to the ropes for a break. After a few minutes, Gordy managed to tag “Doc” and Williams immediately blasted Koloff with a football tackle, colliding heads with him and busting open “The Russian Bear.” Koloff rolled to the House of Humperdink’s corner and tagged Saito. Williams and Saito went back-and-forth in control. Williams gained the upper hand and tagged to “Bamm Bamm” and the fan favorites hit a double football tackle on Saito, knocking him out of the ring. Sir Oliver Humperdink ran over to check on Saito and handed him his cane. Gordy came near the ropes to go after Saito, while Koloff and Williams started brawling in the ring, which distracted Tom Branch. Saito struck Gordy’s injured leg with the cane from outside the ring, taking the big man down. He struck the leg two more times and then struck Gordy in the head, busting him open, before handing the cane back to Humperdink. Williams and Koloff took their fight to the floor, while Saito returned to the ring and clamped on the Scorpion again, in the center of the ring. With blood flowing down Gordy’s face and his leg in pain, he was forced to tap out. It was a huge win for the House of Humperdink team! ****
7) Harley Race went to 22-0 overall with a pinfall on Colt “Boom Boom” Cabana in six minutes. Cabana had a lot of offense against the former Southern Heavyweight champion and looked as if he would score a huge upset. Cabana clamped on a headlock but Race lifted him into a back suplex and took control. Race hit a backbreaker for a near fall. He executed the vertical suplex but Cabana managed to kick out. Race followed up with the piledriver and got the victory. Jimmy Hart was definitely pleased with another win for his charge! **½
8) “American Dragon” Bryan Danielson returned from injury and started his quest against Jim Cornette’s men, scoring a pinfall on World Tag Team champion and his long-time rival Chris Candido after 14 minutes. Danielson got a huge pop from the Gore Springs fans, many of whom were seeing him live for the first time but knowing his accomplishments in pro wrestling, especially in the USWA. Danielson controlled much of the match. He hit a missile dropkick a few minutes into the bout, then kipped up, and covered Candido to score a two-count. Danielson went for the guillotine choke but “The Suicide Blonde” quickly scrambled to the ropes for a break. Danielson delivered a series of roundhouse kicks to the chest and head with Candido on his knees and the fans chanting “Yes!” to each kick. One kick busted Candido open. Danielson put Candido on the top rope and attempted a huracanrana. Cornette held on to Candido’s leg to brace him, which caused Danielson to crash hard. Candido went from the sitting position to the top rope and hit a diving head butt. He took control for a few minutes but in setting up for a suplex, got blocked and Danielson surprised him with a small package. He surprised Candido to score the pin! Danielson pointed to Cornette and Mr. Hughes that that was one on his “hit list”! **¾
9) “The Boogie Woogie Man” “Handsome” Jimmy Valiant and The Flying Redheads defeated “Classy” Freddie Blassie and The Toloses in a six-man tag team match. The Redheads and Tolos Brothers all tagged in-and-out in the first two minutes, making this look like a standard four-man tag team match. John had control of Billy Red Lyons and was pounding on him on the apron. Lyons ducked a punch and surprised John with the sleeper, while standing on the apron! Tom Branch wouldn’t check for the submission with Lyons on the outside but John started to walk in and Lyons came over the top with the sleeper still applied! John started to drop but made the ropes before Lyons could apply full pressure. “Handsome” Jimmy tagged in for the first time and duked it out with John. John tagged back to his brother. (Interestingly, it appeared “The King of Men” avoided a tag, perhaps not wanting to face his rival Valiant!) Chris got overtaken by Valiant and Lyons tagged back in. Lyons worked over Chris, then went up top, and came off with a flying body press. He covered Chris, hooked the leg, and scored the pin after eight minutes. Valiant and Red Bastien kept John and Blassie at bay, as Blassie never tagged into the bout! The Gore Springs fans gave “Boogie Woogie” and the Redheads a big ovation for the win! *
10) The main event was for the USWA Southern Heavyweight championship. “Exotic” Adrian Street, accompanied by manager Jim Cornette and his bodyguard Mr. Hughes, put the title on the line against “Superstar” Bill Dundee. The Gore Springs fans were solidly behind Dundee, knowing his popularity, but also wanting to see a title change at the first USWA card in this town! Dundee went to work on the glam rocker’s leg and went for an Indian Deathlock a few minutes into the bout. Street managed to get to the ropes for a break. Street took control after a missed knee lift and attacked Dundee’s leg. He tried for his own leg submission with the London Bridge but the “Superstar” got to the ropes. The battle went to the floor and Cornette distracted Tommy Marlin, while Street held Dundee’s arms and Hughes went for a big right hand. Dundee dodged the attack and Hughes clobbered the Southern champ! Dundee dropkicked Hughes and then tossed the “Exotic One” back in the ring. Dundee took over for a few minutes and had Street in trouble. He went up to the top rope and again Cornette distracted Marlin, while Hughes climbed up on the apron, shook the rope, and crotched Dundee. Dundee rolled out of the ring for a breather but didn’t get much as Hughes blasted him with a clothesline. Dundee was down and Marlin turned to count him out but the “Superstar” returned to the ring by the count of eight. The champion controlled the bout for several minutes and it looked like that was all for Dundee. Street tossed Dundee out of the ring and then took his time in gloating and prancing. Dundee crawled back on the apron and Street went to grab him but Dundee surprised him by snapping his neck on the top rope. Dundee entered the ring and slammed Street, then went up top and hit the Superstar Bomb! The fans went wild, as Marlin dropped down to count one…two…and just before three, Marlin saw Cornette entering the ring and went to stop him! The fans were furious as Dundee popped Cornette with a big right hand. While Marlin was still tied up with “The Louisville Slugger,” Hughes pulled Dundee out of the ring on the other side. Dundee had had enough and started pounding away on the bodyguard! Marlin turned around to see Dundee outside the ring and started counting him out. Dundee was halfway up the aisle when he realized what was transpiring. He ran back to the ring but didn’t make it by 10, so Marlin called for the bell and awarded the bout via countout after 14 minutes! The Gore Springs fans were outraged! Street was handed his “glammed”-up Southern title belt. Street gloated at the Aussie, who responded with a big right hand! Street, Cornette, and Hughes gathered up themselves and returned to the locker room before the “Superstar” could unleash more punishment! ***

While I'll always enjoy Nacho Mania, can't be upset with a Milkman win. Cornette and Street use Dundee's temper against him. Race's streak continues to impress as well.
