Huge victory by The Patriot dethroning Harley Race to become the new USWA World Heavyweight champion in Lexington. I, like others, did not see that coming. Race loses his championship and unbeaten streak all in one night.
Bob Armstrong suffered a tough loss to Baron Von Raschke, but it took some outside assistance. I have faith that "The Bullet" will rebound and get his revenge. Speaking of revenge, I am seriously pumped for the Seven Levels of Hate series between Colt Cabana and Adam Pearce.

Thanks to Victory Roll and Crue Fan for the comments!
March 19, 2018 Card #538: Municipal Auditorium in Nashville
1) Tyler Black made short work of George South in the opening match. “The Monday Night Messiah” came out strong against South at the bell and hit a reverse STO into the turnbuckles to score the pinfall in about 45 seconds. Black, flanked by bodyguard Luke Harper, continues to impress with his new look and persona! DUD
2) Hugh Morrus scored a pinfall on Nashville native Jake “The Milkman” Milliman. As typically happens in the “Music City,” Milliman got a big ovation from his hometown fans. He put up a good fight against Morrus but the laughing man prevailed. He pinned Milliman in about three minutes after a back suplex. Morrus looks ready to challenge Pepper Gomez for the Mid-America Heavyweight title next week in Jackson! ¼*
3) “Exotic” Adrian Street triumphed over “The Anarchist” Arik Cannon in a competitive 11-minute match. The PBR drinker Cannon came very close to a huge upset over the two-time former Southern champion. He executed a brainbuster on Street about midway through the match for a near fall. Cannon whipped Street and went for a clothesline. Street ducked the clothesline and surprised Cannon with the crucifix to score the pinfall. Jim Cornette was glad that his men got the win in the end! **¾
4) Ray “The Crippler” Stevens and Greg “The Hammer” Valentine kept up their winning ways with a victory over Roy Rodgers and David McGee. McGee hails from Louisville but didn’t see action tonight in his first USWA match, as the First Family team kept Nashville native Rodgers in the ring for the entire bout. After several tags, Valentine put Rodgers down for the three-count after an atomic drop in about four minutes. DUD
5) Mr. Hughes dominated Cousin Luke. Jim Cornette’s bodyguard seemed content to inflict pain on the hillbilly rather than get the win. He hit a power bomb and later three backbreakers in a row, without releasing Luke but wouldn’t go for the pin. He finally did score the pin after the spike slam in about 12 minutes. As Hughes got his hand raised, Jim Cornette indicated that Hughes would bring the Southern Heavyweight title back to him after Hughes’s bout with Bryan Danielson next week in Jackson! ¼*
6) In an amazing bout, Ivan Koloff and Mr. Saito gave The Uptown Boys their first loss in a 30-minute match. The House of Humperdink team kept Ric McCord in the ring for much of the match and wore him down. They hit a double back suplex and then Koloff executed a falling face slam out of their corner. He went for a pin but Marty Jannetty broke up the pin attempt. McCord came up bleeding from the face slam. Saito tagged back in and went for the Scorpion Leglock but McCord made the ropes. A few minutes later, Saito hit his suplex but again McCord kicked out. McCord finally made a hot tag a few moments later and Jannetty ran wild on “The Russian Bear.” He executed the Rocker Dropper and went for a pin but the former World champion kicked out. Later, Jannetty blasted Koloff with a stiff superkick. He went for another pin but Saito jumped in for a save. McCord came in as well and pounded away on the Japanese Olympian. Scott Bowden broke them up and ordered McCord back to the Uptown Boys’ corner. This allowed Saito to head butt Jannetty and allow Koloff to take over. Koloff tagged Saito back in and Saito hit the Oriental leg sweep for a near fall. Saito tossed Jannetty over the top rope but Jannetty grabbed the rope and flipped backward into the ring. He then booted Saito in the stomach and surprised him with a DDT for a two-count. A bloodied McCord tagged back in and ran wild on Saito. He hit a side saddle suplex and made a cover but Saito kicked out. Koloff came into the ring but Jannetty cut him off with a dropkick. He then pounded away on Koloff in one corner of the ring. McCord went up the ropes, possibly for the flying body press. Before he could leap, Sir Oliver Humperdink got up on the apron and smashed McCord in the back with his cane! McCord hit the mat and Saito went for a cover. Bowden turned around to see the pin attempt and counted the pinfall. Jannetty turned around and realized what had just happened. The Nashville fans were not happy about this, as the House of Humperdink returned to the locker room! *****
7) Harley Race scored a dominant victory over Tommy Gilbert, who was substituting for the injured “Gamesmaster” Kevin Sullivan. Gilbert hit Race with some big forearms at the bell but Race took control with some shots of his own. He hit the piledriver and then for good measure, went up the ropes and hit the diving head butt. He covered Gilbert and scored the pinfall in impressive fashion in two minutes. Race looked determined to win back the World Heavyweight title! neg*
8) “The Boogie Woogie Man” “Handsome” Jimmy Valiant returned from injury and with “Superstar” Bill Dundee and the debuting “Wildfire” Tommy Rich on his side scored an impressive victory over “Classy” Freddie Blassie and The Tolos Brothers! The fan favorites got a big reaction from the Nashville, particularly Rich, hailing from nearby Hendersonville. They charged the ring and Valiant went right after Chris Tolos. Joe Wheeler called for the bell to start the match and deemed Valiant and Chris as the legal men. Valiant worked over Chris with some big roundhouse punches before tagging to the “Superstar.” Chris cut Dundee off and gave him a hard running stomp before tagging his brother John. John initially had control but Dundee cut him off before tagging to Rich. The fans erupted as he entered a USWA ring for the first time. He sent John into the ropes and hit one of his finishers—the Thesz Press (the same move used by four-time former USWA champion Lou Thesz). Rich and John landed near the ropes, which may have saved John from a pinfall. Rich followed up with a vertical suplex on John and then tagged “The Boy from New York City,” who immediately hit the Boogie Woogie elbow, landing right across John’s nose and busting him open! Valiant went for a cover but Chris broke it up with a stomp to the head. Interestingly enough, “The King of Men” did not attempt the save and seemed content staying in his corner. Rich tagged back in a few moments later and caught John in his other finisher—the sleeper. Blassie finally entered the ring but Valiant saw him coming and chased him off; in fact, Blassie took off up the aisle! Chris came in to save his brother but was met with some big right hands from Dundee. A bloodied John started to drop to the mat. Wheeler checked John’s arm and it dropped three times, so he called for the bell after nine minutes and awarded the bout via submission to Rich, Valiant, and Dundee! The fans went wild for the fan favorites’ win! Blassie never did enter the match legally! **¾
9) In the first match of the Seven Levels of Hate Best-of-Seven Series, Colt “Boom Boom” Cabana got off to an early lead with a very impressive win over “Scrap Iron” Adam Pearce in a 2-out-of-3 Falls Match, winning in two straight falls! Cabana was very aggressive in this one, wanting to gain some momentum in this epic battle. He hit a folding Thesz Press on Pearce a few minutes into the first fall for a two-count. He set up for the Colt .45 but Jim Cornette jumped up on the ring apron, distracting Scott Bowden and Cabana before he could hit the move. He later hit a second folding Thesz Press but the two landed near the ropes, where Cornette reached in and jabbed the tennis racquet into the Chicago native’s throat, unseen by Bowden, who was checking Pearce’s shoulders for a potential pin. Pearce recovered and hit a hangman’s neckbreaker for a two-count. The former Mid-America champ had control for several minutes until he tossed Cabana outside. He followed his rival and attempted to run him into the ring post but Cabana reversed and sent Pearce in head-first, which busted him open! He tossed Pearce back inside and stayed in control. He blasted Pearce with a Bionic Elbow and then hit the Colt .45 to score take the first fall after 14 minutes.
After the 60-second rest period, fall #2 started. Cabana stayed aggressive, hitting a flying hip attack for a near fall. He continued to work over Pearce and hit the Cabanarama and then for good measure, another Colt .45 to score the pinfall and win the match in four minutes of the second fall. It was an impressive night for the host of The Art of Wrestling, as he took the initial lead in the Seven Levels of Hate! ***¼
10) The main event featured two of the most popular tag teams in the USWA today, battling it out for the USWA World Tag Team championship. The new champions Brad and Brian Armstrong put the titles on the line against The Flying Redheads. The Armstrongs captured the belts last month in Tupelo from the Heavenly Bodies after nearly a year’s worth of battles with them. After having feuded, Red Bastien and Billy Red Lyons reformed their team at Independence Day Bash 2017. While the Redheads were an impressive tag team in the USWA in 2007 and ’08, this would be their first ever shot at the titles together.
All four men shook hands before the match in a great show of sportsmanship and respect. The fans were split in their support of the teams and all four kept the action relatively clean. After a few minutes of back-and-forth action, Bastien hit the airplane spin into the atomic drop on “The Road Dogg” for a very near fall. Lyons tagged back in and hit a crossbody block and went for a pin but only got a two as well. Lyons went for one of his finishers, and an Armstrong favorite—the sleeper. Brian quickly made the ropes, knowing the efficacy of the move. Brian tagged his brother a few moments later and Brad executed a two-handed bulldog on Bastien to score a near fall. A few minutes later, Brian and Lyons were the legal men when Brian hit the pump handle slam on the Canadian. Lyons managed to get a foot on the bottom rope for the break. Bastien tagged in but the Armstrongs took over on him. Brian got Bastien down on the mat and went up to the second turnbuckle. He leapt off with a knee drop but Bastien rolled out of the way and Brian landed on his knee hard. Bastien applied a Boston Crab. Brian was in a lot of pain but made the ropes for a break. Bastien was near the Redheads’ corner and immediately tagged Lyons, who slapped on the figure-four leglock in the center of the ring. Brad attempted to save his brother but Bastien stopped him with a flying head scissors. Brian was in a lot of pain and forced to tap out after 16 minutes. Paul Morton called for the bell and awarded the Redheads the USWA World Tag Team titles! The Nashville fans popped at seeing history made! The Redheads were joined in the ring by “The Boogie Woogie Man” “Handsome” Jimmy Valiant, “Wildfire” Tommy Rich, “Superstar” Bill Dundee, and several other fan favorites! Lyons helped Brian to his feet and made sure he was alright. Brian indicated that he was and was the first to offer a handshake to the new champions. Brad joined in as well and the “Music City” fans applauded for the sign of sportsmanship! ***¼

Exceptional squash victory for Handsome Harley... Gotta think that regaining the heavyweight title is number one on his priority list... And woe to anyone who stands in his way.
Seven Levels of Hate kicks off in ferocious fashion... Hopefully, Pearce manages to even the score in stage two.
Unfortunate the Armstrongs had such a short run with the gold... But, it's very cool that a seasoned team like the Redheads are finally getting a turn with those USWA tag belts... Awesome sauce!

Your USWA is rocking Cory love the write-ups!
I'm sad the Armstrongs also lost the tag gold so quick but maybe down the line they can get them again!

Thanks to Troy, Pariah, and Victory Roll for the comments!
Highlights from USWA Championship Wrestling on March 24: • Commissioner Teddy Long announced some big matches for the coming weeks. First of all, the new USWA World Tag Team champions The Flying Redheads will defend the belts against the former champions The Heavenly Bodies in the main event on April 16 at the Earl Belle Community Center in Jonesboro! The new champions were interviewed in studio. Lance Russell congratulated them on their win. They thanked Lance and the fans for their support. They said that Brad and Brian Armstrong are great wrestlers and they are welcome to a rematch at any time. They have never wrestled the Bodies and said that they are skilled athletes but that they (the Redheads) are better technical wrestlers. They said they will have their eye on Jim Cornette and Mr. Hughes at ringside! • “The Boogie Woogie Man” “Handsome” Jimmy Valiant and “Superstar” Bill Dundee introduced Lance Russell to “Wildfire” Tommy Rich! Lance congratulated the fan favorite on their victory over “Classy” Freddie Blassie and The Toloses last week in Nashville. Valiant said it was good to be back but he still needs to get his hands on that “rascal” Blassie, who didn’t even tag into the match. Rich said it was great to be wrestling in his home area for the first time and he looks forward to more matches in the USWA. He wants to help Valiant and Dundee succeed and concluded by saying that he’s “fired up” to win USWA gold! Rich will have his first singles match on April 9 at the Civic Coliseum in Knoxville, when he takes on Chris Tolos! • Commissioner Long announced other matches for the Knoxville card: o “Bullet” Bob Armstrong will get a chance for revenge when he goes one-on-one with “The Clawmaster” Baron Von Raschke! The German grappler scored a countout win over Armstrong two weeks ago in Lexington when Doctor X hit Armstrong with a loaded head butt. Armstrong hopes to right the wrong! o Another grudge match will see “The Boogie Woogie Man” “Handsome” Jimmy Valiant take on John Tolos! Tolos scored an impressive win on the two-time former World champion in January in this same arena and then went on to injure Valiant along with his brother Chris and “Classy” Freddie Blassie. Valiant hopes to knock out Tolos in Knoxville! o The second match in the Seven Levels of Hate series between Colt “Boom Boom” Cabana and “Scrap Iron” Adam Pearce will take place on this card. Commission Long announced that this will be a Knoxville Street Fight! Both wrestlers will come dressed as they are and there will be no disqualifications and no countouts!
The USWA returns to the Oman Arena in Jackson on March 26! • “Superstar” Bill Dundee will take on “Exotic” Adrian Street! These two international superstars battled last month at the Mid-South Coliseum. Jim Cornette interfered, sweeping Dundee’s leg and holding him down while the former Southern champ scored the pin. Dundee has had problems with Cornette and his men as of late. Can the Aussie “Superstar” defeat the British glam rocker? • In a tag team rematch, The Uptown Boys will take on John and Chris Tolos! Marty Jannetty and Ric McCord scored a big win on the Toloses last month in Memphis, not even allowing John to tag into the match, which made them happy after the Toloses put Tommy Rogers out of action back in December. But the Uptown Boys just suffered their first loss in a controversial ending to Ivan Koloff and Mr. Saito last week in “Music City” and want to get back on track. The Toloses are coming to come out fighting, wanting to avenge the Memphis loss! Which team will leave Jackson the winners? • “Bullet” Bob Armstrong wants to get his hands on the masked Doctor X after X interfered in Armstrong’s match with Baron Von Raschke two weeks ago in Lexington! He will get his chance this week! Can the Armstrong patriarch beat the former Southern Heavyweight champion? • “Classy” Freddie Blassie managed to stay out of the ring last week in the big six-man tag team match in Nashville. But he won’t be able to hide this week when he goes one-on-one with “The Boogie Woogie Man” “Handsome” Jimmy Valiant! Can Valiant avenge the attack from January in Knoxville? • In the first of two title matches, “The Man with The Cast Iron Stomach” Pepper Gomez will defend the USWA Mid-America Heavyweight title against Hugh Morrus! The laughing man Morrus has been impressive since debuting in December and goes into this bout undefeated. Gomez too has built up an impressive win-loss record since his surprise return in September. It will be interesting to see if Morrus can hit the No Laughing Matter if the move will affect Gomez with his cast iron stomach! Will Gomez retain the gold and give Morrus his first loss or will Morrus bring the Mid-America title to the House of Humperdink? • The main event will be for the USWA Southern Heavyweight championship. Current and two-time champion “American Dragon” Bryan Danielson will defend the title against Mr. Hughes! Hughes has scored two pinfalls on Danielson in the last few months. He definitely has the power and size advantage against the champion but Danielson can adapt his style to any opponent. As in many of his men’s matches, Jim Cornette could be the difference-maker! Can Cornette’s bodyguard capture the gold or will “Dragon” knock down the big man?
All these bouts, as well as a rematch from two weeks ago in Lexington, when Billy Gunn battles King Kong Bundy! Plus, The Heavenly Bodies, the team of Ray “The Crippler” Stevens and Greg “The Hammer” Valentine, “The Monday Night Messiah” Tyler Black, and more superstars in action!

Cabana was lucky enough to win the opening stage of the Seven Levels of Hate... But, I'm predicting that Pearce will even things up in Knoxville... Nothing like a good ol' street fight to get the blood pumping... Literally!

Thanks to Pariah, Victory Roll, and Spider Kid for the comments!March 26, 2018 Card #539: Oman Arena in Jackson, TN1) “The Monday Night Messiah” Tyler Black defeated S.T. Jones in the opener. Black dominated “Soul Train” Jones from the opening bell and scored the pinfall in about three minutes after a flying forearm in the corner. Black continues to impress! DUD 2) “Dastardly” Danny Doring and The Amish RoadKill picked up a surprise win via disqualification over Ray “The Crippler” Stevens and Greg “The Hammer” Valentine. Stevens started off the bout for his team and had control of Doring but Doring surprised him by reversing a whip into the buckles and sending Stevens crashing in hard. Doring seemed surprised by his own actions! He tagged to RoadKill who worked over “The Crippler” and then tagged back to Doring. The bizarre duo hit the Buggy Bang. The Jackson fans went wild as Doring went for a cover. Valentine came in for a save but Sam Platania saw “The Hammer” coming. Jimmy Hart came into the ring and nailed Doring with the megaphone. Platania turned around in time to see this and called for the bell after four minutes. Doring and RoadKill were declared the winners, while “The Mouth of The South” was shocked! neg* 3) “Bullet” Bob Armstrong gained a measure of revenge with a pinfall over Doctor X in a competitive match-up. This was a physical bout with the advantage going back-and-forth. Armstrong hit the masked man with some stiff karate chops and scored a near fall. X was knocked out of the ring but grabbed Armstrong’s legs from the outside and then rammed his left leg into the ring post. He clamped on the figure-four leglock in the center of the ring. “Bullet” Bob was trapped for over a minute and looked like he might tap. Armstrong started to fade and his shoulders went to the mat. Tommy Marlin went to count and X almost scored a pinfall but Armstrong got his shoulder up at the last possible moment! With the fans rooting him on, Armstrong managed to pull himself to the ropes finally for a break. Armstrong rallied back and hit the Georgia jawjacker. X was shaken up but got back to his feet. Armstrong hit a body slam and then covered the former Southern champion to score the pinfall after 14 minutes. The Jackson fans gave “Bullet” Bob a big ovation, as “Bad to The Bone” played. Armstrong hopes to have similar success against Baron Von Raschke on April 9 in Knoxville! ****¼ 4) The Heavenly Bodies defeated Jake “The Milkman” Milliman and “Sodbuster” Kenny Jay in about five minutes. Tom Prichard had the initial advantage against Milliman and tagged to Chris Candido. Milliman capitalized on a mistake by “The Suicide Blonde” and tagged to the “Sodbuster.” Jay ran wild on Candido and it looked like he and Milliman might score a huge upset over the former World Tag Team champions. Candido took control and tagged back to Prichard. The Bodies hit the Prima Donna Plunge and Prichard covered Jay to score the pinfall. Jim Cornette was relieved that his men came out the victors! ½* 5) King Kong Bundy picked up an impressive submission win over Billy Gunn in six minutes. Gunn had the early advantage but the New Jersey giant cut him off. He locked on a bear hug in the middle of the ring. Sam Platania checked Gunn’s arm and it dropped twice but popped back up on the third. He tried to punch out of the hold but Bundy sinched up the hold tighter. Gunn was hurting and Platania checked his arm again. This time it dropped three times and Platania called for the bell. It was an impressive win for the First Family of Wrestling member! * 6) John and Chris Tolos were victorious over their rivals The Uptown Boys in a wild tag team match. It looked like Marty Jannetty and Ric McCord would score another win over the Canadian brothers but John battled back against Jannetty and slowed down the pace. He hit the solo version of the flying knee drop and went for a cover but McCord made a save. Chris ran in, grabbed McCord, and rammed his head into the turnbuckle, then tossed him out of the ring. Chris returned to the Toloses’ corner and John tagged him back in. Chris hit two running boots to Jannetty’s face and made the cover to score the pinfall in about six minutes. The Tolos Brothers looked impressive tonight! *½ 7) “Exotic” Adrian Street scored a very controversial win over “Superstar” Bill Dundee via countout. The Aussie was fired up in this one. He hit a flying fist drop a few minutes into the bout for a near fall. He continued the onslaught and hit a jumping knee drop for another two-count. Street fought back but couldn’t maintain the momentum and Dundee regained control. Dundee went up to the top rope, possibly for the Superstar Bomb. Before he could leave, Jim Cornette jumped up on the ring apron. Dundee got off the turnbuckles and went after “The Louisville Slugger.” Street recovered and went to hit Dundee with a jumping knee smash but Dundee saw him coming and Street collided with his own manager! Dundee stayed in control for a few minutes. He and Street were slugging it out. Dundee landed a big fist that knocked Street down but sent himself backward toward the ropes. Cornette was still recovering from colliding with Street but Mr. Hughes grabbed the top rope and pulled it down, causing Dundee to flip over the top rope and crash on the floor. Tom Branch turned around and saw Dundee out of the ring. Street was woozy but managed to get to his feet by using the ropes. Branch put the count on Dundee and he hit 10, giving Street a countout win after 14minutes. The Jackson fans were irate by this! Cornette, Street, and Hughes looked ready to attack but “The Boogie Woogie Man” “Handsome” Jimmy Valiant came down to the ring with a steel chair in hand and chased off the three. Several USWA officials, as well as Mid-America champion Pepper Gomez, came down to help Dundee in the back, as Valiant stayed in the ring for his bout. ***½ 8) “Classy” Freddie Blassie scored a pinfall win over “The Boogie Woogie Man” “Handsome” Jimmy Valiant. Valiant might have been distracted by concern for his tag team partner “Superstar” Bill Dundee, as Blassie had most of the offense in this one. He bit Valiant once and then choked away at him. He stomped on Valiant’s stomach and then applied a stomach claw. Valiant fought hard for the ropes but couldn’t get there. Blassie kept the pressure on and pinned Valiant’s shoulders to the mat after six minutes. You can bet that these two will battle again! ¾* 9) Pepper Gomez retained the USWA Mid-America Heavyweight title and gave Hugh Morrus his first loss in a competitive 10-minute match. The challenger had control for several minutes and looked like he might take the title home. He hit a No Joke (a reverse spinning neckbreaker). He came off the top rope with an impressive senton across Gomez’ face and scored another two-count. Gomez battled back and the fans fired up. Morrus cut him off and knocked Gomez out of the ring. Gomez crawled underneath the ring and confused the often-confused challenger. Sir Oliver Humperdink went looking for the champion as well. Tommy Marlin held up his count, looking for Gomez. Suddenly, Gomez emerged on the side of the ring by Lance Russell and Dave Brown, surprising the announcers, and came in the ring behind Morrus. He swept his legs and hit the Mexican cradle to score the pinfall out of nowhere! The fans erupted and Morrus and Humperdink were outraged but the decision stood and Gomez remained the champion! ***½ 10) The main event was for the USWA Southern Heavyweight championship. “American Dragon” Bryan Danielson put the title on the line against Mr. Hughes. Hughes was coming into this match with two victories over the champion and had a lot of momentum on his side. The challenger came out strong at the start, pounding on the champion. He hit three backbreakers in a row, without releasing Danielson and went for a cover but Danielson kicked out. Hughes sent “Dragon” into the ropes and caught him on the rebound with the spike slam. He went for a cover three minutes into the bout but Danielson kicked out. Danielson got back to his feet a few moments later and surprised Hughes by taking him down to the mat and locking on the LeBell Lock. Hughes was near the ropes and quickly the bottom rope for a break. Danielson released him but then clamped on the guillotine choke in the center of the ring. Hughes started to fade and looked ready to tap. Jim Cornette jumped up on the ring apron and distracted Tom Branch, just as Hughes tapped out! Danielson released the choke to get Branch’s attention and then threatened “The Louisville Slugger.” The distraction allowed Cornette’s bodyguard to recover and Hughes ambushed Danielson. He whipped the champion into the ropes and telegraphed a body drop. Danielson booted him in the face which cracked his sunglass and drew blood on him! Danielson immediately hit the ropes and hit a running sunset flip to score a near fall. Danielson locked on the LeBell Lock again. Once again, Cornette got up on the ring apron and stopped Branch from seeing a tap out! The fans were irate by this, as Danielson went after Cornette. Hughes recovered and went after “Dragon” to protect his employer. Branch separated the two wrestlers but in doing so, Cornette was freed and cracked Danielson in the back with the tennis racquet! Hughes took control and hit a released gut wrench. He covered Danielson and scored the pinfall after 10 minutes to become the new Southern Heavyweight champion! The fans were shocked but Cornette was ecstatic! They were joined in celebrating by the Heavenly Bodies and former Southern champion “Exotic” Adrian Street. Cornette and his men looked ready to attack Danielson but “Bullet” Bob Armstrong came down to the ring before they could. As they continued their celebration on the way back to the locker room, Armstrong checked on Danielson and helped him to the back. ***
