Richmond's Chikara

So this is my first fed in a long time, so I figured I'd start with Chikara, a fed I spend a lot of time watching nowadays. I've done a random draw of the eight participants that will be in the tournament for the Grand Championship. As I'm typing this, I still haven't looked at the entrants, so this should be interesting. Here we go...

Well that turned out a lot better than expected. Below are the random draw pairings:

Year 1 - January - Week 1

Tim Donst vs. Frightmare

Tim Donst maintained control for the entire match, but it was Frightmare smartly rolling out of the ring after a Donstitution that turned the tides. Frightmare reversed a whip into the ring post, sending Donst into the steel. Frightmare rolled Donst back into the ring and hit a pair of Fright Crushers to upset Tim Donst in the opening round of the Grand Championship Tournament.

Winner: Frightmare

Obariyon vs. Fire Ant

Obariyon made quick work of Fire Ant, hitting him with an Argentine Enzu Knee Strike, followd by a flying DDT. Fire Ant never really had a chance.

Winner: Obariyon

Ultramantis Black vs. Delirious

Delirious caught UMB with a nasty shadows over heck on the outside, slamming UMB’s head between his knee and the ring post. Delirious rolled Ultramantis back into the ring and hit him with the Bizzarro Driver for the win, and a ticket to the semi-finals of the Grand Championship tournament.

Winner: Delirious

Soldier Ant vs. Hallowicked

Delirious did not return to the back after his match, as he wanted to scout his opponent for the next round. His presence served as a major distraction to former tag team partner, Hallowicked. With Hallowicked’s back turned, Soldier Ant spun him around and hit him with a TKO for the win. Once Soldier Ant made his way to the back, Delirious slid into the ring and just stood over Hallowicked chanting, “Bah, Bah, Bah”

Winner: Soldier Ant.

Frightmare vs. Obariyon

Obariyon went for a flying DDT on a recovering Frightmare, but Frightmare ducked out of the way, sending Obariyon to the mat. Frightmare hit a vicious combo of Fright Crusher, followed by a Kneecolepsy to advance to the Grand Championship finals.

Winner: Frightmare

Delirious vs. Soldier Ant

Delirious’ “scouting” seems to have paid off, with Delirious defeating Soldier Ant after a Shadows Over Heck/Bizzaro Driver combination. Delirious advances to the Grand Championship finals against Frightmare.

Grand Championship Title Match
Delirious vs. Frightmare
(One Fall to a Finish)

Delirious took advantage of his much smaller opponent at the start of the match, having him down early, but Frightmare was able to turn it around, hitting Delirious with a crucifix bomb. Delirious quickly rolled out of the ring, to catch his bearings. However, Hallowicked was standing at the top of the ramp to return the distraction that cost him the opportunity to fight for the title. Frightmare snuck up behind Delirious and rammed him into the ringpost, then rolled Delirious back in to the ring. Frightmare hit Kneecolepsy for the win.

Winner and First Chikara Grand Champion: FRIGHTMARE

Hallowicked came down to the ring to celebrate with Frightmare, but took a moment to stand over Delirious, pointing and babbling in his face. Hallowicked threw Delirious out of the ring to allow Frightmare to properly celebrate his Grand Championship.

Wow, I'd have picked a Donst/Hallowicked final. Frightmare provides a nice surprise and upsets his way through the tournament. Nice.
