I like baseball and would like to know if anyone can recommend stratomatic?
Bearing in mind I'm from England (a non-baseball kinda country) and I don't fully understand baseball stats as yet.
I'd like a game similar to GWF/LOW (dice-rolling) where you can choose your own matches.
Any suggestions?

Strat-o-matic baseball, cards or computer, is awesome. It's all up to you what teams and players to play. I do mostly different types of all-star seasons. Right now on the pc I'm playing a league I set up that uses the HOF set, the Baseball Heroes, and the Negro League set. I made two leagues like the AL and NL, 12 teams in each. I ran a draft using all of those players, 18 man rosters, 12 batters, 6 pitchers. No interleague, 154-game season.

I'm no Bill James but feel free to hit me up with a PM anytime you're looking for some clarification on baseball statistics; plus I'm sure our American friends here will be glad to help with any queries.

Tom is, himself, a Strat player, and has openly admitted to patterning the gameplay of LoW after the cards-and-dice feel of Strat.

After mulling it over for a while I decided to take the plunge last week and order Strat-o-Matic baseball. I ordered the 1982 season which appealed to me for two reasons:
1. It's the year I was born 2. All four divisions that year had very close pennant races.
Since I plan on playing out a season for every single team I will likely only run a half season as a full 162 game schedule would likely take me a few years to complete.
While I'm looking forward to receiving the game I have no bloody idea when I'll actually get it! I placed my order on September 18th and in the past 7 days it's gone between several sorting facilities in New York and New Jersey and is currently sitting in a facility in South Hackensack where "The USPS is awaiting the item." Seven days and it's only made it's way across one state line? Really!? What makes it even worse is I paid the extra money for first class international shipping.🤬🤬🤬🤬. According to Strat that shipping option means it should take 2-8 business days for me to receive the game.
The only consolation is that I get to say a fun city name, South Hackensack, when I tell people this story; Perhaps my parcel will also end up in Walla Walla, Washington before it arrives here in B.C.🤪

Love some strat. I did a replay on the computer years ago but I usually end up playing one-off games on the tabletop with my oldest son these days. I’ll usually take a Nats squad against an all-time team from whoever they are playing at the time. Keep us posted once you start it!

Finally got the game in the mail this past Thursday. Played my first game last night between the Expos and Blue Jays.
Since it was my first game I used the basic rules as I didn't want to overwhelm myself. While I had to re-read a few instructions multiple times in order to understand them overall I found the game very easy to pick up.
Anyways, the Expos ended up taking it 4-2. Among the highlights was Andre Dawson hitting a two run HR in the top of the third for Montreal and Hosken Powell going 4-4 for the Blue Jays. The game took me just over an hour to play.
I'll likely play a few more exhibition games and gradually phase in the advanced rules to see which ones I want to keep before I start my season for all 26 teams.

Hi Yeah the BB side of Strat-O is fun and fast! My buddies from high school and I had a league back then, but we never did finish the season... I recently got the FOOTBALL edition of the 2022 cards, yay! I finished Week 1 and am working my way through the entire 2022 season. This will take awhile... The only bad thing about Strat-O Football is that the SOLO version is picking the Defensive play while the dice roll picks the Offense. They came up with that system when the format changed way back in 1982. Me, I'm an OFFENSE-minded player (because I'm a big fan of the Chargers and AIR CORYELL)! Luckily for me, I found the old solo chart online! With that, the player picks the offense and the dice roll picks the D. I updated the chart and posted it online as well, so for any Strat-O Football solo players here, check out my chart: www.deviantart.com/toddtorpor/art/Strat-o-Matic-Football-Solitaire-Chart-911104361It's cool that you are into S-O Baseball! I had fun playing that back in the day! Todd C WTIC
