March 27, 1988. One of the greatest days in wrestling history. Randy Savage wins one night tournament at WrestleMania IV to win his first WWF World Title, becoming the first babyface champion since Hulk Hogan and giving fans hope that Hogan would soon fade away (yeah, right, LOL). Meanwhile, to compete with WWF, NWA puts on a free special on TBS, Clash Of The Champions, headlined by Sting going to a 45-minute draw with NWA World Champion Ric Flair. This match made Sting into a superstar. www.dailymotion.com/video/x5s359_clash-of-champions-1988-ric-flair-v_sportI will never forget this day. I was unable to watch either event that day but remember everyone talking about one or the other at school the next day. Savage and Sting were also my two favorite wrestlers at the time (Hogan could go to hell then and still today, LOL) so this day was always special to me. I own both matches on DVD and will watch both in their entirety this evening. Remember how good wrestling used to be? Now we're stuck with Twitter this, Twitter that, no new stars being properly elevated, and WrestleMania being headlined by 4 part-time wrestlers. Makes me sick. 3/27/88, thanks for the memories!

yeah it's truly unreal how the years go by. I saw that on Closed Circuit in Anaheim CA i still hated Savage from his Heel run so i was NOT happy. plus Steamboat lost in the first round. and the crowd cheered Demolition as if they were the Road Warriors.

I never saw this when it aired, but after hearing that Savage had replaced Hogan as champ, I was loving it. Too bad most of Savage's title matches ended in someone rescuing him.
