I personally like this for nostalgia purposes and a collectors edition. But I don't think it makes sense to do all sets in color. Perhaps key characters from each era in further collectors packs, or as some a suggesting a classic reboot could be interesting.

A reboot could be interesting but unless there was a large demand for it, not sure it would be cost-effective for Tom.

I'd just like to see a new universal starting on point again without a cosmic battle.

Got my set today. Pretty happy overall and it does get me excited to restart my fed. I do have a couple thoughts, a wish list for what could be next and one minor complaint.
Overall I really liked the art. With a few exceptions it outshines the originals. Being in color does tend to do that. My favorite card from the original set was The Mutant, so I was really happy on how he turned out. I also thought Genghis, Pulsar and Renegade were great. But Beast Rider! Wow. That is a great card. I have so many ideas to run with that guy in my head. Sorry Omega just bums me out. I was so hoping for a old jay Strongbow looking guy. Instead I get the ripped dude who looks like a Adonis. Will probably print out the colored version from the online set I bought and use that instead.
My wish list is that they don't do up every set, but just a couple from each for at least the first six sets or so. Would love to see a new creeper and Splatter card, Spike and a real creepy looking mad jester would be awesome. But hey, I do enjoy the reboot. I plan on writing out a reboot based on how I see the characters anyway. I kind of always done that anyway.
My complaint is my Beast Master was damaged by the rubber band it has a big rub mark across the front. Any ideas how I can get that replaced? Is Tom planning on coming out to Galactical 4?
Anyway just my thoughts on the new set.

Personally, I am not in favor of a reboot. Comics have reboots in order to keep characters relevant because they do not age at regular rates. Think about it, Peter Parker was in high school when Amazing Spider-Man came out in 1963. If he aged at the regular rate, he would be in his 60s now. Bruce Wayne was a grown man when Batman started in the 30's, he would be in his 90's or maybe over 100 by now. Tom has allowed the characters in GWF to age, mature, retire, and in some cases die, at a rate consistent with the time period they are set in. As for the statement that Vlad Hammer's story should be updated because the Soviet Union fell, should we update 2001 A Space Odyssey because PanAm went out of business? Should we update films set in the future because they show the Twin Towers standing in New York after 9/11? The story/history that Tom has created in the GWF over the past 25 years does not need a reboot. It is fine, and relevant, just the way it is.
That's my 2 cents on the issue, and I'm getting off the soap box now.

I would vote no to reboot as well. This is a futuristic card game with one storyline writer. There's no need to reboot it. One primary reason for comic reboots is because there are so many writers adding layer after layer to the continuity that it gets messed up, and as stated the times change faster than the comic book world which requires writers to do something to jump forward. None of this is the case with COTG.
To me it would be no different than WWE deciding that there is no history pre-Attitude and getting different wrestlers to play the gimmicks that WWE owns from the 80's and early 90's. That era is part of history and it should stand just as it is for future generations to enjoy or to choose not to enjoy. That's why the new jumping on points are great ideas.

I got all 4 sets in today and these are Outstanding cards, I'm liking every single one. I have to say a reboot really now doesn't sound all that good, but I'd like a new set in the future of cards from 2088 and so forth. A mixed lot of guys could be good, if we're not getting a full run of 2088. Anyway, I really like the new look Original 24...
