The impression that I got from the World War Z trailer was that it is going to be very different from the excellent Max Brooks book it is based on. I haven't read the book but the movie was awesome. I really enjoyed it especially the last half of the movie. One of Brad Pitt's best films and maybe we will get a sequel.

I'm definitely up for Pacific Rim. Kaiju versus Mecha with a Lucha Libre influence. Yes please.

I saw the Lone Ranger this afternoon.
IMO not as good as I was originally hoping but definitely not as bad as I feared based on the critics who only gave it 24% at Rotten Tomatoes.
I had some issues with the movie but overall I liked it and the ending action scenes on the train were awesome.
Overall I would probably give it a grade of B or B-.
Also, overall, IMO this year's Summer movies have not been as good as last year's Summer movies which included The Avengers, The Dark Knight Rises, The Amazing Spider Man, Ted, Savages, and Prometheus all of which I really liked alot.
The next two Summer movies I want to see are The Wolverine and 300: Rise of an Empire. I might also see Pacific Rim.

Vegas I agree with your grade of a B for the movie as I thought it was way better than the critics were making it out to be. After the movie during the credits when Tonto was walking in the field did you think something was going to happen yet? A ton of people waited through all the credits and then nothing and everyone in the theatre let out a groan. If they were going to show him walking that long I thought for sure something was going to happen at the end credits. What happened at your theatre or did you leave right away?

As far as I understand based on reading about it on the Internet, that scene with Tonto walking through the desert was the very last scene (I wasn't around after that though) shown during the credits and there was no scene after the credits.

So this summer I have been really enjoying the movies coming out...and the studios have been very generous to the troops stationed here in Hawaii as we have been getting free advanced screenings of some of the big summer movies, I have seen "42", "Star Trek, Into Darkness", "Man of Steel", "World War Z", and "Pacific Rim" all a week before national release (saw Pacific Rim last night). Plus the theaters in town showed "White House Down" free for military on the 4th of July. There was even a free screening of "Iron Man 3" on the day it was released at a few of the theaters in town (was for the enlisted forces, so I couldn't participate in that one). I have really liked all of the movies...but I am still most looking forward to seeing "The Lone Ranger", which I will see next weekend (and likely "Despicable Me 2" since the daughter really wants to see it). Favorite so far I think was "Star Trek", followed by "Man of Steel". "Pacific Rim" was fun (predictable, but fun nonetheless), for some reason the AC wasn't working well in the theater and the guy sitting next to me had very bad theater etiquette (eating loudly, moving all over the place, and hogging the armrest and legroom) so the experience wasn't that good. I will say that calling the monsters Kaiju (think I spelt that right) reminded me of Kaiju Big Battle...a little personal chuckle that I got and likely no one else in the theater would have known about. Don't know when/what the next advance screening will be, but I am grateful for those who are giving those of us serving in the military the opportunity to see them in advance.

I saw White House Down today whic turned out to be another movie I liked more than alot of the critics (it only got 47% at Rotten Tomatoes and Richard Roeper gave it an F.)
I give White House Down a B/B-

I was really happy with Pacific Rim, it was a great movie. The Kaijus & Jaegers are really cool, it's a solid movie to see in my view. I was going to see The Lone Ranger, but I only know of a few people I know who liked it and more then 4 who hated it...
