I saw The Wolverine today. I give it a B+/B I agree solid movie and agree with the B+ grade. Vegas did you stay and see the hidden X-Men scene in the middle of the credits? Interesting scene for what is to come in the next movie.

Last night I saw Pacific Rim.
Overall I liked it and I give the movie a B (but I give the fight scenes between the Jaeger and the Kaiju an A and that is really what I wanted to see the most in this movie on the big screen.)
If you have not seen Pacific Rim and plan to do so, stay during the credits.

Today I saw Elysium and it was awesome!
Definitely my favorite movie of the Summer. I really liked District 9, also directed by Neill Blomkamp, but I liked Elysium even more.
I give it an A for a grade, no doubt about it.

Tonight I went back to the theater across the street and saw You're Next.
Based on the hype I heard about this movie and the 95% it had yesterday at Rotten Tomatoes (it still has a respectable 80%,) I really thought this would be a much better horror movie. But there was no originality. There was also very little suspense as you constantly see one of the killers in their Wyatt Family like masks coming before the victim does. I posted a SPOILER at the end of this post to give you an example of why this movie was horrible as a horror movie which is too bad after yesterday seeing a near masterpiece of a comedy in The World's End.
I give this movie a D+, but I did really like Sharni Vinson.
Before I write my SPOILER below, some of the comments I heard from other customers tonight while leaving the theater after seeing You're Next:
"I can't believe I paid $10."
"That sh*t was horrible."
"I want my money back."
SPOILER:
To me, a horror movie is good if it has genuine suspense and is bad if it lacks suspense- sort of like a comedy is good if it makes you laugh (like The World's End.) Very little suspense in You're Next. For example, when the family comes under attack they send out a chick to run for the cars saying "she's our fastest runner" and "We'll open the doors at the last second and they'll never see her coming." Of course she got an arrow through her neck as soon as the door was opened. No suspense.
