What can you say when the best game fans in the galaxy get together?
We had a great time, too many memories to keep track of but I'll try a few: Friday night at Labyrinth was a hit and we played our first BLACK DEATH 2129 tournament won by Endgame!
We did our usual traditions on Saturday but filmmaker Paul Schermerhorn also at the con and he was filming footage for a Filsinger Games documentary which is the brainchild of loyal promoter Jeff Gutherz. Keep watching for updates!
The evening highlight was recording the VIEW FROM FED HQ podcast along with Wiggy and Gavin Loudspeaker. There was plenty of fan interaction and you'll LOVE hearing the spontaneous reaction of game fans to the huge announcement that RANDY SAVAGE, LANNY POFFO, and ANGELO POFFO are getting game cards in August!
Speaking of Gavin Loudspeaker, he won the coveted GalactiCon Cup with a thrilling final match victory where Matador of M83 defeated the GWF's latest and greatest superstar, Shayne (Dayton Dave)!
I invite other attendees to share their thoughts, they'll do better than me!
THANKS EVERYONE AND KEEP IN MIND NEXT YEAR IS THE 25TH ANNIVERSARY OF GALACTICON! START PLANNING NOW, THAT'S A HUGE MILESTONE FOR OUR AWESOME GAME COMMUNITY!!!

Thanks for the quick announcement on Galacticon 25. I may have just enough time to find room with an employee discount for then.

Thanks to Tom and the gang for a great weekend! It was fun from the word go. My highlights:
* Winning the Friday night tournament with Endgame * Losing a brutal indy tag match when Leva Bates took three consecutive powerbombs from Michael Elgin. (Her tag partner, Allison Danger, made the pin save the first two times, much to Leva's chagrin) * Winning the Legends tournament with Strangler Lewis * Making the Galacticup finals with Shayne * Hearing the announcement of MACHO MAN entering Legends! * As always, renewing acquaintances with all the great people of Galacticon- Tom, Todd, JMello, Mike Fortune, the Melesky brothers, Smoke & Jauron, Troy & Lisa, Kevin W., Jeff & Josh from Wisconsin, and making some new friends as well.
For those of you who took my feuds and foreign objects survey- I compiled everything on the plane and have it all in Excel format. Ultimately, I will incorporate this into my HTML tables and I will post them here on the board in a new & improved 2013 version. Thanks to everybody who pitched in!

I was originally not going to go, but things worked out in the end to go. I realized that one reason more than anything to go is that for three days a year, I can forget all my other problems. It was a lot of fun, and winning Jimmyface's new trivia was great. Tournaments abandoned me this year, but it will just mean practicing up for next year and plotting out new strategies. Great to see everyone and meeting new people like Chris. Plus the look on Todd's face on Friday made it all worthwhile.

Where to begin...
Came in on Friday night, and went over to The Labyrinth to meet up with the crew, and to get my greedy little mitts on some vegan cuisine and 2129 swag. Neither disappointed. From the artwork to the storylines, the new set is easily misinterpreted as a connecting set to the next story chapter. If you believe that, you are false. There is a very definitive line in the sand being drawn, and Shayne draws a line like no other.
The events of Friday night after the party are not allowed to be placed into print per the NSA. Sorry all!
Saturday was a lot of fun tournaments and meeting up with friends new (Wiggy and Parisel come to mind right off the bat!) and old (to list them all would risk leaving one out, and to describe their awesomeness would crash the boards). I had some great success in the tournaments with Anarchy (do not confront him in a Barbed Wire Cosmic Cage match and expect not to bleed!), Nicole Matthews (an amazing competitor, and future SHIMMER champion in my fed), and Bex (not to keep pimping the new set, but Bex vs. Shayne was one of the most intense matchups ever). But the most success I had was with "The Prodigy" Mike Bennett, who carried me to my first tournament final. Ever. I've been coming here for a very long time, and never did it before. Quite exciting!
Early on, I was interviewed about my experiences with Galacticon and with Filsinger Games. A documentary of sorts is in the works, and it was an honor to get to share my experiences with everyone. I can't wait to see the finished product!
Midway through the day, I ran the Trivia Contest. It was more fun and more brutal than ever before. I received a lot of positive feedback for the format changes, and plan to use all the feedback to improve upon the contest next year. It was a real honor to host it, and I'm glad to see a lot of smile throughout the game. And I would be remiss to not congratulate Chris and Todd for making the final round, and double the congratulations to Troy for winning his 4th Trivia Contest. Side note: Troy, your prize is being worked on as we speak, and is on it's way!
End of the day started off great with a delicious dinner by the lovely and talented Leslie. Without exaggeration, her brownies are the best I've ever had, and I gladly travel 140 miles for them. After dinner came the auction. I walked away with the original art for the 2118 Tauran and a copy of "Songs In The Key of The GWF". Then came the podcast. Wiggy is awesome, Tom is awesome, Gavin is awesome, and Mike is our Phenom. The four of them had a great podcast and the Q and A portion was a lot of fun. And to be practically ringside when it was announced that Lanny Poffo, Angelo Poffo, and Randy Savage were coming to Legends was amazing... and loud! I think it will be one of the best pops in Galacticon history. As the evening came to a close, tournaments came back in full swing as we enjoyed the evening at Sheldon House.
Taking a break here to express my thanks to the staff at The Sheldon House. I am glad to have Galacticon back here this year. I love having it at JCC, and it is a great venue as well. But there is something about Sheldon that is truly unique. I have never known a convention venue like it before, and will probably never know one like it again. Being there made the experience very special, and I am glad to experience it.
The events of the Saturday after party are best left un-disclosed. However, I can share with you the following information. From Friday through Sunday, I had eight hours sleep total. That would have been a higher number if a certain Canadian Hitman hadn't of had the front desk of the hotel we were staying at give me a 6 am wake up call. I promise you, payback is coming my friend!
Sunday saw the final rounds of the tournaments. In the Indy tournament, it was me as Mike Bennett taking on Gavin as Bryan Danielson. We started the match with a hug, as both Gavin and I have been coming to Galacticon for years, and neither of us have ever been in the Galacticon Cup finals before. We knew we in the moment, and hugged like men. Then came a great match. Danielson had the technical edge, Bennett had the ability to absorb punishment while looking for an opportunity to cheat. Using a headbutt off the top rope, Danielson caught Bennett for the win, as the crowd went wild. From there, it was seeing him win against David in the finals that led to a rousing cheer. It was a feel-good as a moment gets, to see a longtime friend to all win their first ever championship. I liken it to when fans saw the late Eddie Guerrero win his first ever title match. We were so glad for Gavin, and seeing him hold the trophy aloft was the perfect end to this years Galacticon.
And everything I wrote in this post is not even the complete picture of the great times we had. If you have never gone to one or it's been a while since you went, start saving your money for the 25th Galacticon coming in 2014. I'll most assuredly see you there!

Most fun I ever had a G-Con despite a lousy weekend of tournaments. Got into Pittsburgh nearly on time despite the bus starting off an hour late (thank you long layover and bus driver who made up 40 minutes) We might have been on time but Pittsburgh's traffic sucks *laughs* From there rode up with Kevin W. and had a lot of fun as usual. Got to the hotel which got off to a lousy start by not having our room ready. Luckily we weren't delayed too long. Met Chuck and Jim later after they arrived and went to the coffee shop. Not my thing really, so we went somewhere for food but missed our turn so we ended up getting a bit from Tim Horton's (great for breakfast but not so much any other meal) Missed the Friday night tourney, but we had a lot of fun back at the hotel
Saturday was more fun. Wiggy is awesome. Loved her enthusiasm. Didn't care much for the comic guy, but ahh well. Tom was more active this year which was great. Winning trivia was great. Almost blew my chance when I couldn't think of Fight Without Honor until I stopped thinking game and switched to thinking of the fed itself. Then two of my three questions in the final round (Hector's personalities and Legends Vintage) couldn't have been better. Great job by TM and Chris (pleasure to meet you btw) Also great seeing old friends as well as the new ones.
Sunday, ran my first tourney there (King of Hardcore) dice still hated me, but the tourney itself ran smoothly which was good after all the trouble we had Saturday (NEVER do a 32 tag tournament again.) We had to cut it short because of wanting to get on the road with plenty of time. We made it back and had a smooth trip home. Best traveling since I flew (back when that was affordable)
Already making plans for 25 and winning the cup for a 5th time. Maybe my dice didn't like me this year, but there's always next, and Jimmy, I am definitely looking forward to my prize.
If you can make G-Con, do yourself a favor and go. It's not just friends, it's a family.

That is a GREAT story, Jimmyface. And no surprise that Mr. Fortune would have been the culprit, lol. If you can make G-Con, do yourself a favor and go. It's not just friends, it's a family. Amen.
