Crimson, I'm curious to hear how you run your fed, how it's set up, etc, because I have thought about doing something similar but wasnt sure how to go about it. I have set a roster size for each Division or Branch to not grow past 20 roster spots each, but I've also set in place not to rush my plans. At least the rushing part is working well LOL! and keeping the rosters in a decent size. You can see how I've been running my fed in the FMX FEEL THE iMPACT! thread of the Alternate Universe Fed section. You'll see that I've used Carson P.Century and time travel to bring in LOW/LOTF/ROH&CHIKARA to the future...

I used to play waaaay back when the game first came out but lost my sets and records. I quit playing until I rediscovered to game online a couple years ago. I started from scratch.
Now, I have all the physical card sets up until 2103, plus New Beginning. Im not worried about catching up to current game year, as Im meshing the sets together out of chronological order, using time travel and alternate dimensions and clones to incorporate it all together.I am having an absolute blast, but it has gotten so big that I basically run 2 different brands, Official and Bootleg under the GWF umbrella.
I love creating the history, watching it unfold before my very eyes as I play.

In my first run with COTG I played up 2087-2096 and then life happened and I got away from it. When I discovered the COTG discussion board in 2003 (real time) I was really drawn back into it because of all the house rules, homemade charts, etc. that solved a lot of my gripes (too many DQs, too many title changes, too large of a roster).
I thought "Heck, I should just start all over again and do it the "right" way". Then in 2004, Early Classics came out so I started back in 2074 and now am SLOWLY (not by choice, LOL) working my way through those years.
I think a lot of promoters get frustrated too fast and can't see things through. Half the fun of the game is booking through trouble spots in your storylines and such. Just my take on it.

I did the restart for two reasons. First was the release of Early Classics, and second was a lack of documentation showing earlier game results. Right now, I have a history going up 2103 from all the way back from 2074.
I am, however, going to do a straight jump off to 2125, because I simply cannot wait to get into the color cards any longer!

I have done restart mainly due to being off the boards for awhile due to ongoing heart problems. plus after reading other feds on here its amazing the depth that some of these feds are done by their promoter. the creativity by some is second to none and got me wanting to do a better job with mine.

Here is my 1.5 cents on the topic. Like most people on here when I reboot it is due to being away from playing for an extended period of time. Usually do to other distractions. When I come back I either forget the path I am on or am not as excited about where things were going.
The last reset was also due to the number of cards I have. Unlike most, but it seems not as many as I thought, I do not follow the true Champions history. I use it as a springboard or for ideas but I do my own thing. I mix all my cards together. Champions, LOW, RoH, cards I made my self and all the others. If I feel a card needs to be adjusted I do so. Time travel explains how this is possible as that was established in the very beginning. With all these cards I am now up to 4 feds. All with their own feel and pace. I also take out weaker cards or guys that did not resonate with me. Also I tend to take duplicate cards via upgrades and rename them. For instance I made the original Star Warrior into Shooting Star, Star Warriors cousin, when the new Star Warrior came out.

I originally began playing in the summer of 1991 (or 92?), when I was 12 (or 13?) years old. My best friend from that period and I used to play all the time. I kept some notes, but not great ones - I had a basic title history, some supercards, etc, but nothing truly definitive. I played that way for many years, losing touch around 2109 or so. I got back into the game around 2113, where I basically just "reset" from that period on, and kept much better history of everything - cards, titles, win/loss records. I had these records going through at least New Beginnings when I started to feel that twinge of nostalgia and I began to think, "I wish I had a more complete history for my fed."
I then began the looooooooong process of restarting. I began all the way back in 2074, using the early classics guys. I actually had two feds going at once - my old school fed, and my current day one. My plan was always to meld them around 2113, when my records began. I'm happy to say that after YEARS of effort, I finally got "caught up" earlier this year, so I now have a complete fed history from 2074-2129! It took a bit of fudging to combine them after 2112, but I didn't want to bring myself to replay all of those years as well.
So that was my long way of saying that I restarted because of a lack of record keeping on my part. I feel much happier with how things ended up, and I love that I have a real history to my fed now.

When I started playing in 91 I think I collected some of the sets out of order. I think I got the first 4 sets over time and then order War Games with Chaos before I had War Games with Matador so my timeline was a little messy. I continued to play up until college 99-04 when the real world got in the way. I continued to collect the sets as I kind of looked at it as a comic book, even if I wasn't playing I wanted to see what happened next. I really didn't do much with Centra and I'm sure there are probably 6 or 8 sets I've never used.
When New Beginnings came out I started from there which has a been a blast but I'm still a few years behind (Council of War) right now.

Rebooting an old thread. I ordered everything back in something like 1992. So I had every set up until Sudden Death 2095 in one go. But maybe I was a little too young as I had a tournament and started right off in 2095 with no history. And I just seemed to keep doing that. For example I missed a few sets and they ordered 4 at the same time til 2099 and then done the same thing. I wish I started properly in the first place! Anyway a few years ago I made a decision to play right from 2087 and could not dream of rebooting again as I have run so much and love the history. It's a long slog as I've only just reached 2095 now and I guess it'll take me many, many years to reach current sets at the rate I play. Too many distractions/demands in life. But it's great to have the history. I am also on and off playing classics from 2074 which I plan to stitch into my current fed when I reach 2086/87. Am only half way there though. I tend to use the game table online to play matches and obviously the classic characters aren't on there so it makes it trickier. I would like to use the PBP simulator but I noticed some glitches so I just play the matches roll by roll but just do it on the game table. It's a bit quicker than digging out the cards. And I keep the special matches booklets handy to supplement this. I run pretty religious to Tom's storylines. So much so that I won't even run a special match unless it's been officially introduced for that year. But I love it. I wish I made decision to run less cards per year though. Tom seems to average 24 a game year (more in Black Death) and that seems a good number but unfortuntely I started by doing approx 4 a month so my game years last 48 cards. For continuity sakes I stick with 48 but if I had started with a 24 card calendar i'd of been up near 2103 ish or something like that by now. Anyway that's how I roll and I love playing. I do have lengthy periods away from the game but a new set always gets me going again.
Have had quite a list of champions in that time. Belts defended at least once a month. So with a minimum 12 defenses a year it does mean a fair few title changes. Thantos is currently on his 6th reign and Star Warrior has had the strap 5 times. Still at least it's not WWE-like levels of title changes (not that I watch it but there seems to be a new champion every week which I think is a little silly). In this time though I did manage to build some decent runs with champions. Heavyweight belt - Thantos with longest reign of 73 cards, followed by Chaos (37), Spike (30), Star Warrior (27), Tag belts - Brute and Massacre managed 64, followed by Animal Pack (47), Greek Gods (38), Interplanetary - Star Warrior (68), Bounty Hunter (37), Tendron (24).
It's funny how things are though. I read everything Tom posts about his fed in great detail. Especially when he posts historic stuff/notes. I always note that Titan Power had a record tag reign in excess of 50 cards in his fed but they are just so average in my fed. They grabbed the belts once and promptly lost them immesdiately. Another one is the Matador who racked up 43 cards as the Heavyweight champ. He's a great card but with so many other, slightly stronger cards I am surprised - he has managed a couple of very brief reigns in my fed.
I guess I went slightly off topic at the end. But from my perspective I think when I have gone for so long and put so much into my fed I just cannot stomach starting over again. Or else the likes of Black Death/Future Shock etc will never see the light of day in my fed!
