From what I've read so far, THANK GODZ BJ is not a quadriplegic! And yeah, apron moves are cool, but they gotta go the way of the dodo, just like piledrivers have in all the major promotions... Sad to say, but Truth is that the pop spots are NOT worth the risk of Life & Limb... My prayers go to BJ Whitmer for a swift recovery! And Mike Bennett ~ Just be more fuckin' careful, JackAss!!

And Bennett's still employed? Was Owen Hart still employed after he nearly broke Steve Austin's neck with a sloppy piledriver? If even one of the all time great wrestlers can have something go wrong on a piledriver, then it can happen to anyone. It's called an accident, and they happen when TWO men agree to perform a very dangerous move like that one. I don't care for Mike Bennett as a wrestler all that much, but those are the facts. It's pro wrestling, not tickle fighting, and unfortunately guys get hurt. Nonsense. Mike Bennett ain't no Owen Hart. The first responsibility a wrestler has is to protect his opponent. Bennett may not be fired, but any of the big feds who might have been looking at him will see this as a major red flag to hiring a guy who would put his opponents in danger.

With all due respect, please read ALL of the words before responding. As I wrote, (to me) Owen is one of the all time greats. But he sat out on a piledriver and ended up with Austin's head sticking out several inches below him when they landed. Also, a young Steve Austin himself used a sitout piledriver in a similar spot when HE broke Chono's neck in Japan.
Should Austin have been blacklisted and never gotten a job with a major company after that very sloppy and unprotected move? If even a superior wrestler can make a mistake on a piledriver, then it can happen to anyone. Sting ended Rick Rude's career with an ill-advised and unplanned dive to the floor, Vader broke some rookie's back with a bad power bomb, Chris Masters shattered Steven Richards' nose with a sledgehammer smash. All of them were mistakes, and that very small list off the top of my head shows that it can happen to wrestlers of all skill levels. BJ has gone public stating that it was an accident and he holds no grudges. He's a class guy and his contributions to ROH will not be forgotten. But if you blacklisted every wrestler who hurt a guy on a bad move then there wouldn't be a lot of talent to go around.

Please tell me that you didn't just throw Masters breaking Stevie's nose in there with dudes suffering career ending injuries.

I managed to avoid all spoilers and I just saw through VOD where BJ Whitmer announced his retirement at Death Before Dishonor last weekend.
I am sad to see Whitmer retire. I actually had a chance to meet Whitmer last month during Intermission at a WCA show where he told me at the time he intended to return after physical therapy. I really enjoyed meeting BJ Whitmer and with his ROH card he will continue on in my Vegas universe feds.
