Based on past events, I have a feeling whomever we're helping in Syria, we'll be at war with in 20 years, facing our own weapons.

Syria conflict and gas attacks . Should the world get involved ? The situation in Syria is complex. Unfortunately, whether power is in the hands of Bashar Assad or an amalgamation involving the Nusra Front, there isn't likely to be much of a positive outcome from a human rights/dignity standpoint. A great deal of money has already been spent in support of the insurgency (arms funneling, propaganda campaigns) but it hasn't brought about the intended result, so it now comes to this. Turkey, Saudi Arabia , Israel and Qatar all stand to gain from a decisive U.S. military action that results in regime change. Iran and Russia both stand to lose from a security standpoint. As an American, I would prefer that my tax money/share of the debt burden go into domestic infrastructure (roads, bridges, power grid, wifi accessibility) instead of these perpetual war projects, but it is what it is.
