Oh, yeah!!!
I was in Rhode Island for the last 5 days without internet.
I come home to find this news and a random envelope from Chikara thanking me and reminding me to be there 5-25-14.

I think the announcement is purposely coy about not talking about any names or numbers. Great news though!

Unbelievably excited for this. There are so many characters I desperately want to add to my collection that this could cover (the Wrecking Crew, the Baltic Siege/Bloc Party, Xtreme Force, the newly crowned WORKER ANT II, and even the possibility of Wrestling Is guys like Jervis Cottonbelly and Heidi Lovelace) that I can't wait to see what's included.
Which leads me to wonder--is this going to be a whole new starter set, or an expansion (or series of expansions)? And if it's a starter, does that mean it'll include a lot of overlap of cards of wrestlers who haven't changed much from the last set (Dasher and the Colony, Worker excepted, both come to mind)? Not that that'll keep me from buying it on 5/25, and not that that's a bad thing AT ALL if it IS a starter, but it's good to know, y'know?

In terms of the starter sets, both Dasher and Green Ant are in need of updating - Green has his more recent card, but as that's part of a separate pack, not everyone will have it, and Dasher's card is heavily based around acting in a tag team with Sugar, while he's since become more of a solo wrestler (and the tag moves he does have are with Touchdown).
I'd be up for either a new starter set or an expansion pack, though really I'm just most keen for whatever gets the most roster members issued in card form. The mention of lots of different cards kind of suggests to me that it won't be all wrestlers - maybe we're looking at some cards being included which are based around people like Bakabella or Veronica (though we don't know yet if she's coming back).

A new starter with 16 cards would be cool. I'd rather have that than a 6 pack, at least.

Good points. I agree with you 100% in terms of just wanting as many current characters represented as possible, and a starter set obviously accomplishes a lot in that regard. Plus, it gives new players a great jumping on point in the same way the 5/25 Chikara show is being held up as a great jumping on point for new fans. Like I said, super super excited to see this news. |
