I would like to second everything chewey mentioned above.
I think this is an incredible opportunity not just for Filsinger Games, but also for its fans. Tom and crew have consistently managed to up the quantity and quality of their products. In the last few years they've introduced additional ways to get engaged with their games to fit everyone's preferences, including online and downloadable PDFs. Color cards! Revolutionized the Promoter. Allowed me to give you the Encyclopedias. Locked in exclusive deals with six indy federations (and more to come). And in the last half year alone gave you Randy Savage, Roddy Piper and AJ Styles. And I'm sure I am missing about 100 other incredible things they have done lately.
As a comic book fan, witnessing the recent super hero movie fad has been amazing. To take it a step further, Marvel is now starting "Live Events" as well. My son really wants to go and the little (big?) kid inside me is more than happy to take him. To me, the COTG Live Event is even more impressive. Every fan of this game should have their own little (big?) kid inside jumping up and down, marking out at the idea of these iconic characters that helped you pass the time, were there with you growing up, maybe even helped you get through some rough patches are going to come to life for one night and make our sci-fi dreams a reality.
Pricing-wise... if you stop and think about it... $50 from everyone would probably be more than enough to put this thing over the top. That may sound like a lot, but what do you get for your $50? A DVD of the Live Event and a DVD of the COTG documentary plus a full color, printed game edition. Is it reasonable to think that a typical Filsinger game edition would cost $20 and two DVDs would cost $30... at least? And that is not even all you get. That also includes a poster, a digital copy of the Live Event, an exclusive game card, your name in the credits on the video and a bunch of exclusive first looks at how things are shaping up for the event! That is actually quite a haul for $50. Even if you were thinking you might buy the DVD later on, it would probably be the same price anyway... so why not preorder? Plus... if not enough people contribute, there is no DVD to buy later
My kids wanted Frozen on DVD and Disney charged me $30 for that alone... and while it is actually a good movie, it is no COTG! How much does the new Madden game for insert-your-favorite-console-here cost these days? Or a night out at the bar?
Anyone going to GCon should want to chip in to be a part of this historic event... and you're going to be there anyway right? Refer back to my cost of a night of drinking question. Even if you can't go, you get to see the whole thing on DVD... and this isn't Tom's neighbor recording the event with a flip cam, it's Smart Mark Video! You get real, legit indy talent (Chuck Taylor? CZW Tag Champion, Alex Reynolds? And that is just to start with!), a real, legit announcer (maybe he will throw in a guitar solo?), and a team that you know will bust their asses to bring you something truly awesome and memorable! (and I'm not just saying that because I would be helping them out and making sure it IS really awesome)
I'll even up the ante personally. Not that it is anything major, but Todd can give me a list of everyone that donates $50 or more and I will make each of them a Mini of their choosing... a real-world wrestler (past or present) that isn't signed by FG yet (you want Zack Ryder? Woo woo woo! You know it!), yourself as a fan, or a COTG bootleg that you use or created.
As a thank you to FG, as a thank you to all of your fellow promoters out there, and most importantly as a thank you to that little (big?) kid inside of you... please pitch in and help make all of our dreams become a reality!
