In the MMA rules set:
When given the option to Roll one of two levels, How do you go about making your choice?

I always look at the fighter in control of the fight. If it is Cyper, for example, he would keep the fight on the ground & try to submit you. If it is Shylock, he would stand up & try to knock you the f**k out. That is how I play.

How did you come to those determinations? Is there something on their cards that indicate that to you or are you going on "Personality" issues.

They are judgements based upon character descriptions, Cyper is the best grappler in the game, Shylock has the fiercest fists. Also their cards tell you where they prefer to fight:
Cypher +3 in Off. Grappling Power & Shylock +3 in Off. Striking Power. Saboteur is good in both areas (+2 Off. Grappling Power & +2 Off. Striking Power) but not as good as either top man.
Plus, I believe that when the game first premiered that Shylock was meant to be the best striker, Cypher was meant to be the best grappler.
Hope that helps.

Eliath has it down. The reason we gave certain of the better fighters the option to choose the level is because they're specialists at a certain type of fighting. Now, if a guy like Shylock is going against someone who's decent at striking but lousy on the ground, he might decide to go to the ground, since Shylock's pretty good on the mat himself. But only the best fighters are going to have the choice (not counting the charts, that is).
