Been reading on a few sites: TMZ for one that Spike Television has informed Dixie Carter and TNA that they won't be renewing the current Television Deal which is set to expire sometime in October. This is a sad day for all the Talent, Agents and production staff who are still with TNA. From TMZ: TNA Wrestling's flagship show "Impact Wrestling" could soon be without a home -- Spike TV quietly let the league know it's not renewing their TV contract … TMZ has learned. Multiple sources with direct knowledge of the deal ... tell us Spike execs contacted TNA President Dixie Carter late last week to break the news -- and the following day Carter informed members of her inner circle. TNA's current deal with Spike reportedly runs through October. It's unclear at this point when "Impact Wrestling" will stop airing on Spike. We're told there's no bad blood, and Spike gave TNA such advance notice so it would have time to shop for a new TV deal. TNA's show debuted on Spike TV in October 2005 -- and helped the league rise to #2 on the wrestling scene … behind the WWE. We've called TNA and Spike for comment ... so far, no word back. Once you get over the initial shock, is anyone really surprised by this? Ratings have been awful for quite some time and they are lacking the star power necessary to bring the viewers back. Live crowds are not what they were either. Hate to see this happen, but I would be a liar if I didn't say the time is NOW for Ring of Honor to make their all-out push to become #2.

It is not surprising. I read on LoP of an "emergency" meeting of TNA big wigs, and figured this was probably the cause. I hope Spike considers ROH. Sadly, I am not sure another network will want to give TNA a shot given its poor ratings over the years.

I doubt ROH is an option for Spike, SBG and all. If Spike wants to keep wrestling in their stable of programs, GFW would seem to be the leading candidate.

Good point on SBG. I really hope Spike does not pick up GFW. Based on GFW "announcements" to date, GFW will be another failed promotion in no time.

Can't say I'm surprised by this. Could be good for ROH, as there are rumors of them being sold by SBG. Not sure Spike will be picking up more wrestling right away, although they probably should given the numbers they get from wrestling.

Saw this coming a looooooooong time ago. They named their company after Tits N Asses for God's sake. That's bad for business unless you're a strip club. They never had a chance.
Tried telling everyone that back on Ingersol's board. Not to be a dick but because it was obvious and inevitable.
Only reason it lasted more than a few years is because of Daddy Carter and his money.
Hopefully some of the better wrestlers get work in WWE and in the indies. Good luck to them. Hopefully the writers and bookers don't.

I doubt ROH is an option for Spike, SBG and all. If Spike wants to keep wrestling in their stable of programs, GFW would seem to be the leading candidate. Part of Jarrett's buyout agreement was that he wouldn't negotiate with Spike. I would have to imagine that, even with Spike no longer interested in TNA, that the deal would still be in place. I would be really curious to find out what kind of ratings Spike gets from their other shows compared to what they get from TNA and/or Bellator. TNA wasn't doing good but I've heard in the past that Spike doesn't exactly pull huge numbers from a lot of their shows. Wrestling does seem to be a perfect fit for Spike though. I bet they could find an indy league who would take a lot less money than TNA did and would probably be able to pull similar numbers.

9 years of a continuously running television show is a pretty amazing achievement, regardless of the content. If this is the end, congratulations to TNA for hitting a that benchmark.

The only thing surprising about this is how long it took. Carter's father's money and probably the signing of Hogan helped prolong its life on Spike.
I'm hoping this opens the door for ROH but I'm not holding my breath. I don't think they're ready for the jump to weekly TV programming which will always be compared to McMahon's product. Although if ROH gets some of their alums back, Aries, Kenny King, Wolves, maybe they would be able to compete better.
The name TNA was a huge strike against it and they realized it late by trying to call it Impact Wrestling. The 6 sided ring was a horrible idea but ultimately the horrible storylines, bad match concepts (reverse battle royal), etc are really to blame for this.
Gotta give Jarrett credit for getting another wrestling show on TV post WCW purchase by Vince. I'm hoping the wrestlers strengthen the indy scene because that's always a good thing.
