One can only hope that the tragic loss of such a beloved icon will shed light & understanding on the disease that is depression, and all other mental illness for that matter. Funny, we don't bat an eye when someone has cancer or some other "physical" disease,we just feel bad for them and offer them our compassion, no questions asked. But any type of "mental" disease or addiction seems to be looked upon out of the corner of society's eyes & that truly is sad. Comedians especially seem to be tortured souls. comedians prone to depression and suicide.psychotic traits in comedians I've worked the door at a couple comedy clubs (Connextions & Chaplin's) and I've seen a lot of dark shit there. Robin Williams might have been a tortured soul but he found away to love other people in a way that touched their lives forever. He did a lot for our troops, and there are a lot of stories of him from them out there to read. I always respected him for that.
