GALAXIAN WRESTLING FEDERATION HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPIONSHIP

There is no doubt as to who is the greatest GWF champion of all-time. Thantos dominated the sport like no other.

He is a former 7-time Galaxian champion. He owns the mark for longest title reign, defending the strap 20 times over a period of 250 cards.

Thantos is also the longest reigning Interplanetary champion ever with 14 title defenses. Thantos also held the GWF Steel Cage title, most of the time jointly with the GWF title. Teaming with Bishop Hell and the Exo-King, Thantos held the Six-Man titles for 136 cards and eight defenses.

Notes:
1. This was a 16-man tournament final to determine the first GWF champion.
2. Thantos lost a federation exile match and was stripped of the title. A tournament was held to fill the vacancy.
3. This was a 16-man tournament final.
4. During this title reign, Thantos unified the GWF title with the Steel Cage championship in the 32-man tournament final over Chaos.
5. Thantos reclaimed the GWF title, and once again held it in unison with the Steel Cage title. It would remain unified until the King of the Ring. Following the conclusion of that tournament the heavyweight title was once again joined with the cage belt. It remained that way until SuperBrawl III (#685) when Bishop Hell took the GWF title from Chaos.
6. After King Lear won the unified GWF Cage Title and retained his Interplanetary belt in a Torture Chamber match, he retired from wrestling and vacated all three titles. A 64-man Steel Cage tournament was held to fill all three vacancies.
7. Spike won a 64-man Steel Cage Tournament to earn the GWF and Steel Cage titles.
8. During the course of the King of the Ring, Chaos won the TV title, then lost both the TV and GWF belts to Splatter in the finals. The finals were 2/3 falls, and Chaos won both straps back. He then vacated the TV title.
9. After Pulsar won the GWF title from Wolf, it was held up due to various controversies surrounding it. Blazing Skull held a non-title win over Wolf on Brymstone, but was not allowed to be ranked in the GWF. The vacant championship was filled at Galacticmania IV in a 60-man three ring battle royal.
10. Pegasus won a 60-man three ring battle royal to fill the vacant GWF heavyweight championship.
11. Pegasus won a three-way dance against Thantos and Chaos to get a title shot later in the night against Janus. He then won the belt back once again.
12. Nefarus took the GWF title from Pegasus during the Cosmic Cage Carnage tournament. Wraith then beat him for the belt and exited the competition with the gold.
13. Heracles defeated Pegasus in a Ladder Match to win the GWF and CPC heavyweight titles and unify them. He then was forced to vacate the Interplanetary title.
14. The GWF was closed down by President Cordanus and the UFSP. All operations were halted, and Vengeance was the last Galaxian Heavyweight Champion.

Superb history! Very enjoyable read. Just wondering... Approximately how many years does this cover (in game time)?

I would have to check I stopped playing just before the color cards started coming out by a year, maybe two. 2122, 2123, around there. Only 8 or so more titles to do this for. I have grand plans of also posting all my tournament results, and there's tons of those, and possibly every major card I played.

You can see when I first started playing I had the title defended on every card. That increased the number of changes.

Added 2 defenses for Thunder at the very end of the list. Looks like I was just going to start using 2119 when I hung it up at card #1,097.

Love the format and it's so cool to see such a long fed history. Did Thantos really hold the title for over 200 cards?

Yes, that long run by Thantos was awesome. When I get other titles posted you'll see him and other big names like Star Warrior holding other belts. Maybe I wouldn't let that happen or not as much if I played again but it's not totally a bad thing. I'm slowly working on the Interplanetary title history.

GWF INTERPLANETARY HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPIONSHIP

One of the great I-P champs of all-time is Wolf. Six-times he has worn the I-P gold. Twice he won a tournament to fill the vacant title.
Wolf only had seven title defenses of the I-P strap, with three of his reigns ending in his first defense of it.

He beat the likes of Exo-King, Mesmer, Matador and Thantos to win it. He lost the belt to the likes of Exo-King, Bounty Hunter (twice), Krakan, Mayhem and Splatter. Wolf is truly a GWF legend.

11. Grogan defeated Alpha Force in the 3rd round of the loser's bracket in the King of the Ring tournament.
12. Spike won a title for title match to gain the I-P belt. He then vacated the that and the TV strap and retired.
13. Chaos won a tournament to fill the vacant I-P title.
14. Rising Sun won the I-P title from Heracles in the first round of the 1998 King of the Ring.
15. Chaos beat Rising Sun in the 1998 King of the Ring's 2nd round to win the I-P title. He then vacated it after winning the KOTR.
16. Mandrill lost in the 1998 King of the Ring finals. He was awarded the vacant I-P title.
17. Malice won a tournament to fill the vacant Interplanetary title. Heracles unified the GWF and CPC heavyweight belts at Galaxian Bash: War Games and vacated the I-P title, ending the third longest reign ever. GWF TELEVISION TITLE

The GWF's television title has been one of the most hotly contested championships in the history of the federation. Spike has worn this particular title six times, defending it 21 times.
He holds the second longest TV title reign behind only Bishop Hell. He defeated Wolf twice, Star Warrior, Raven, Splatter and Pulsar for the belt.
