Upon further review, if this is not a "work", I'm going to venture a guess that him posting that is NOT going to help matters

First, I don't believe this is a work. I wouldn't mind being wrong, though.
It's apparent Elgin, on his part, is through with ROH. He wants out.
He deliberately posted that letter to show how they were trying to strong arm him.
So he'll be forced to make this last appearance and then he'll be gone again. I doubt they can sweet talk him back.
Highspots released a video today of him discussing the situation. I may have to get it.

Maybe I'm wrong but this just reaks of a work. I don't think his visa issues or whatever were a work but now ROH seems to be trying to make a story out of it all. Maybe I'm wrong but it just feels like them trying to make the best of a bad situation.
Honestly, if Elgin tries to separate himself from ROH, he's an idiot. ROH is the biggest organization that actually wants him working for them. He's had tryouts with WWE and they weren't interested. TNA would have likely shown interest in him by now if they were ever going to.

He posted this on facebook earlier: This is what I just received. I was threatened with legal action.
Hey,
We already have the flight bought (which you should have gotten already). No room to eat the costs. It will all be fine and you can come back and get back to normal. There is really no choice because if you are not in Florida it will get messy and we don't want that.
We want to finish this out and then we can see what to do next.
In Florida we will do a match and an interview. In the interview you need to apologize and be sure to reference Kalamazoo by name since it is a TV market. Do NOT mention the visa situation. Just say that you have had personal issues that kept you away. Reference the World Title and say you respect Jay Briscoe. It doesn't need to be long but we need to make sure you talk about your remorse for missing events, etc.
Lets just do this the easy way and get through the tapings starting fresh. You have been great here for the last couple years and it is in all of our best interests to keep it going like it was before. I don't want to see you make another mistake so it is best to listen to us in this regard.
ThanksIn other words... It's all a work. Yeah because ROH is famous for doing angles via social media.

He did everything ROH asked him to do and then out of the blue they punish him. To be honest I'd be upset at that treatment too.

What did ROH do to punish him out of the blue?
They had to have him drop the title in Canada because he allowed his visa to expire and wasn't allowed to enter the US. This screwed over ROH fans, AIW & their fans who had him booked to defend his AIW title the Sunday after the Canada ROH show & any other American indie promotion he was booked for because he didn't bother renewing his work visa.
ROH then helped him get his visa issue taken care of & he decides he doesn't want to go to ROHs Michigan show that he was advertised for.
ROH is advertising him because he's under contract to work for them.

ROH then helped him get his visa issue taken care of & he decides he doesn't want to go to ROHs Michigan show that he was advertised for. ROH is advertising him because he's under contract to work for them. 1. The visa issue was cleared up relatively quickly. At the most he'd have missed a couple of ROH shows, Austin Aries missed more ROH cards then that during his first title reign when he was defending the title abroad. 2. The visa thing is a bureaucratic problem, the details of which we don't actually know. It would seem logical that he did try to renew his work visa and something went wrong, because he clearly expected to be able to work the shows in question. A person should not be punished for circumstances beyond their control. 3. For reasons we currently do not know, Elgin has chosen to part ways with ROH. He has made this very clear and yet they're trying to make him appear despite his wishes. This is a very scummy thing to do. 4. People have had issues which have caused them to miss shows before. Some of them held titles in ROH, why haven't any of them been treated like Michael Elgin?
