I am a big fan of weaving away from the canon GWF story whenever possible...
Although I am a ways from the Martial Law era in my fed, here is my what if...
What if Sly Drury had NOT been Iron Hand? Who else would you have chosen to be the behind the metal visage? And how might this have impacted the next few years for Drury?

I was going for U.S. patriot, augmented suit looking for redemption kind of thing. Alas it was Sly. What do you do?

I'd have just preferred a new guy. I think Sly's time was done, Tom wanting AOM to be the main heel, so he had to get rid of Drury.

Going off just the idea of Hand as an authority figure it could have been interesting if it had been Endgame. Taking law and order to the extreme. Maybe even as a split personality where he does not realize he is doing it.

Not original as it has been done in literature including comics but has lot of potential. Does he start off going after the extreme rule breakers and after being successful with them start going after lesser "rule breakers" trying to form GWF in his image of how it should be. Maybe he gets drunk with power and it corrupts him. As far as AOM's name, since you are changing story line a bit why not name. I myself LOVE Tom's story but when it comes time to play I go my own way and have since the beginning. That includes renaming guys pretty much from the start. It all began with Star Warrior getting his upgrade. I thought that was cool but felt bad I lost a card to use. So I renamed the first Star Warrior as Shooting Star who was Star Warriors cousin.

At first, I thought this wouldn't be a feasible idea because I only play online and there is no option to change a character's name. But, then I figured I could give him a name and use Aethran Overmaster as more of a moniker (much like most people are doing with Minister of War and Prime Colonizer in 2130 by referring to them as Vengeance and Mandrill). Many thanks! I will probably do that!

I liked Drury as Iron Hand, but I think the thing that left fans wanting more was that the big reveal didn't come with a new game card.
As for Endgame, I had him begin to show cracks in his goody good guy imagine by partnering w types he always loathed: Wolf, Payback, Valour and American Guy. All of a sudden Endgame was leading the charge against the villains with a team of dark heroes unlike himself. Was cool.
